This flash would be soOOOoo much better if you could get your hands on it. Reflex labs customer service is sub par and the ordering system they use relies completely on being on their website for the 5 minutes the flash is available for order… AND they don’t have any pre-order options to guarantee getting one.

Fuji EF X8 is BETTER - full TTL control and a better position as its upright, less red eye, solid fit on camera. Can also be used on manual or with compenstation. Soft clear tissue can soften the output. Also cheap - so shop around folks.....

Seems like it's working pretty well for you. It's almost like the body should have included a built-in flash like seems to be less common than it used to be. 😕 You can adjust flash exposure level via ISO and aperture but not so much with shutter speed as the electronic flash burst is sort of fixed at a very short duration (shutter speeds slower than x-sync will allow increasing amounts of ambient light allowing the more distant background to show more and the image in general less flashy.

Looks like they took the Olympus FL-LM1/2 (A tiny flash for the Olympus E-M5 as it lacks an built in flash) and made it universal! Although they should copy Olympus' hotshoe locking system from the FL-LM1/2 to secure it in place.

This is very cool..but for me I just got the vintage style GODOX Lux Junior and its been great obviously the Godox is not this size..I use it on my Fuji X100VI and it pairs awesome with that, not only on the looks but performance as well..very powerful for a small compact flash can change the flash power from 1/64 to 1/1....and also tried it on my Sony A7RV..and it works well with that too as an EDC flash you can use while your out and about....I definitely recommend the Godox Lux Junior if you have a Fuji X100 body..

@@SweetLouPhotography only thing that hopefully they will improve on in a "Junior Mark II" is that they put a USB C type rechargeable battery that takes up the same space as the two AAA batteries..lol without compromising the small form factor of the body..lol but then again AAA batteries are very common and get them basically anywhere..lol so maybe thats why GODOX went with those AAA instead..lol

Nice review! (and great photos!). Good news, reflx labs is now also selling a 2x aaa battery flash not as tiny but not far off. Its a bit taller so less problem with longer lenses (less), can select 1/2 power AND it can be screwed down to the hot shoe. I've got both and very happy with them!

I wonder if a little piece of tape on the back of the flash near where it mounts to the body will help "fix" the flash falling off (a small piece of gaffer's tape maybe). It might also be a good thing it doesn't lock down as I have seen flashes get stuck in hotshoes or break off, etc). If you need the flash a bit higher to clear lenses you can buy flash extension rods which raise the flash higher up (although this does add to the bulk of the overall setup). I mean something like this for $50 is almost a no-brainer for the times when you just need a bit more light in your scene and is great for those camras that don't include built-in flashes (like some of the higher-end ML cameras). And for the $50 you could probably pick up a few of these for the same price as even a cheap manual (full-sized) hotshoe flash)

Nope, this flash only has been wired for triggering. You cannot use TTL. TTL is proprietary in 99% of the case and require a special flash to be made for every system.

@@SweetLouPhotography Sorry, I meant the long exposure flash mode for capturing streaks or motion blur. On a tripod it’ll just make the background have the same exposure as the thing exposed by flash. If you half press the shutter to let the lens focus and then press it completely it’ll take a picture instantly. People saying it has shutter drag just pressed all the way down from the start.

YT randomly decides comments are nasty and then moves them into a held for review section-- often times on my account it flags stuff that is so not offensive (and then let's through comments where people instruct me on how to end my life lol)

First time I’m seeing this. Sounds like KZread being KZread, just randomly deleting your comment. I don’t typically delete comments, even derogatory ones. One reason is that I think other people’s opinions should be heard. Another (selfish) reason is that every comment is recognized as engagement, which the all powerful algorithm favors. Looks like an overreach on YT’s part - Sorry your comment got deleted.
