That call of Harry Kalas of the final out in the World Series was created at NFL films because MLB was stupid and didn’t allow the local announcers to call the game. This was why 2008 was so important. On the old Comcast Sportsnet website they used to allow you to leave comments under the article and a there were a few commenters knew Harry’s health wasn’t the best coming into that season and there was sense that this could be Harry’s last chance to call a World Series live. I’ll never forget turning up the radio as Brad Lidge got the final out and celebrating not just the victory but the fact Harry got to call it. I’ll also never forget that fateful day I had the radio on at work before the Phillies were going to take on the Nationals the next year and hearing that Harry collapsed in the booth and before any official word came out I knew the news wasn’t going to be good. I was on a job site with a friend of mine doing carpentry for my dad’s business and I made the call to wrap it early as I knew we would be too depressed to get anything else done that day. Fun fact though…the team was in Colorado the game before and Harry got to call what would be a game winning homer by Matt Stairs.

I’m 28 I don’t mean to sound 50, 3 doors down is a great band now they would have sexy red perform and shake her smelly blood smelling poop smelling ass all over this classy or at least use to be classy town. It’s disgraceful who people look up to now. It will pour into today’s game.

1:07:58 - for those who want to see Greg Maddux pitch in what turned out to be the final game of his career. This also turned out to be Jeff Kent’s final Major League game. …damn, after 2022, I’m realizing that the Phillies have a thing for sending Hall of Famers into retirement in the postseason.

Trust me, DO NOT judge this series in this 1 game. Even though its a nail biter if you dont know the outcome and for the ppl watching live, this gets better and better. To the point it cant get any better.

I grew up so close to the stadium I could hear the fans cheering for a home-run or Touchdown before it was broadcasted to TV. because there was a delay. I made a lot of money inviting people over to watch the Eagles or Phillies game and betting that the next pitch or the the next pass would be a Touchdown or a Home-run ....I would hear the cannons go off for Football Touchdowns or you could hear the liberty bell Gong for Baseball home-runs....and no one ever caught on.....I have so many stories from the building of the Vet to the demolishing... Like dropping Mustard bombs from the 700 level on unsuspecting N.Y. Giants or N.Y. Mets fans waiting in line and never getting caught...and I don't think I ever paid to get in cause either you knew someone collecting tickets or you climbed the gate to the 200 level and grabbing the Barb wire and climbing over and then run like hell...That was my Playground ....I remember I was 10 years old I went to a Phillies game that went over 25 innings and I was there till 2 am. and my Father walked down to the stadium and found me just by whistling real loud and I knew it was him and we found each other and of course I wasn't watching the game but just playing...So I have awesome memories and was sad to watch it go...You will never find another Stadium with a sitting Judge attending the game and holding court after the game was over and the suspects waiting in a jail cell next to the court room in the basement of Veterans Stadium...They should make a movie about the shit that happened at the VET in the 70's and 80's..I could keep writing but I don't think anyone would read it if it's too long...but I will say this every time I went to Veterans Stadium whether our team won or lost I still had Fun and the memories I have will last a lifetime ..

Hard to believe back in ‘80 they didn’t talk about the Phillies ever winning the whole thing (in almost 100 years?). But only winning the pennant

Tim McCarver started a great run as Mets announcer and later became announcer for the NY Yankees and became great friends with Bobby Murcer doing the games together. When I think not the Great Mets teams of the 80’s it is described by McCarver as well as the NYY of 99 through the early 21st Century. RIP Tim and Ralph.

I was at this inaugural Citizens Bank Park game, just imagine how many home runs Schmidt would have hit in citizens bank park. And some of the other homer friendly parks. we, the taxpayers of Pa sure did build that private corporation a beautiful workplace to gouge their customers, whose taxes built the stadium.
