I remember watching this game live. I was cleaning/doing menial tasks around my apartment, so initially, I had it on as background noise. By about the 6th or 7th inning, I abandoned my other tasks and was glued to my TV. RIP Roy. You were a modern classic.

Unfortunately, it came on the same night the Philadelphia Flyers played the Chicago Blackhawks in Game 1 of the Stanley Cup Finals. As a big hockey fan, I was watching that game on NBC. The opening faceoff at United Center took place an hour after the Phillies-Marlins game began, resulting in many Phillies fans to miss the perfect game in favor of the hockey game, which the Flyers lost 6-5. I came to know about the perfect game during the first intermission report.
