This is taken from WCAU NBC10 in Philadelphia, which is 5 days after the big switch from CBS to NBC on September 10th, 1995. This is the 5th day for the WCAU to broadcast an NBC affiliation.
I started watching this game in the background while doing some work and I heard the commentators mentioned The Phils were in the wild card race this late into the season and was surprised. I was born in December of 95 so I never saw these teams but i always was told by my dad the 90s, besides 93, were a terrible time for the Phils. So hearing they were in the race so late I thought "oh wow i wonder how close the were at the end". I looked it up and they only won 3 more games the rest of the year and finished 69-75 hahaha, So yeah I'm happy i wasn't born yet to watch that happen in real time.
Sounds Like The AFL On Seven Sport Theme Song
These were the Lee Thomas days, where he would plug holes with a veteran players that were either on the outs with their former club, or just released. It was a fun time, when you could plug and play, and still be in the wildcard race. He was very underrated general manager.
Murph finally gets a 'network' gig, Cerone needs 'seasoning'... Ordonez may have been 'the best (shortstop)...ever seen' but Vizcaino had a longer career and a ring (2000). Bottle of Snapple (too sweet) on shelf in Phils dugout. Bad audio mix.
