Interestingly, the Smart Air SA600 does not meet California air cleaner regulation requirements
Its likely they haven't sent their device for approval. I know Adam Wong is currently going through the process to get his devices approved to be sold in California. As the Smart Air devices don't use any sort of ionizer so can't imagine that it's an issue with emissions. But will certainly ask them for more detail, thanks for making me aware.
One question. Something I never see people talking about.... Where should you put the purifier?!?!?! Nom chao?!? on top of a sideboard?!? In fact, where should I put it????
Typically purifiers should be placed in open area away from walls/obstacles especially depending where the intake is.
@@ZioComposite ...yes, but it doesn't respond to what was intended. In floor?? on top of something, away from the ground? on top of a sideboard? of a table?!?!?
Depends on the design but in general it won’t matter too much as it will pull air from all around the room and will clean the entire air many times in an hour. Just place in a location that won’t get in the way and is easily accessible.
@@HouseFresh Levoit 300s
@@ramosmanuel1171 Due to it's design you don't need to worry too much as it will pull in air from all around the base. I would just keep it in a location that is easy for you to access as you do need to regularly clean the pre-filter so don't want it in too awkward a location.
Still waiting for the air fanta review gov
Working on 🫡 won’t be too long promise.
What about this hepa thing? Is it hepa or not?
Levoit has now removed the term HEPA from their marketing material so we can assume the filters are not HEPA grade. Whilst this isn't a good look for Levoit, the use of non-HEPA grade can actually improve performance in air purifiers as they will allow for more airflow than what you find with HEPA grade filters so they can actually remove tiny particles faster. This guy did a great video on this: kzread.info/dash/bejne/mZWFtrurmdbPlaQ.html& So whilst it's not good for their brand reputation, this is still an effective device.
I see you have the QT3 and the Westinghouse portable filters behind you! Could you please do a review of mini portable/desktop filters like these? Maybe include the levoit pure enrichment? I have been struggling to find information on these smaller filters and I would love some data to help me decide which ones to invest in or what each one would be best to use for (public transportation, sitting on your desk in the office, on a table at a restaurant for some minimal mitigation, etc) (you may have already but so far haven’t found it on your playlists - thank you for all your content it has been amazing!)
Yes, I have plans to cover a few different portable devices, so I will make sure to do this video soon. Thanks for sharing this idea!
Same price and cadr as a honeywell hpa300 which is actually hepa much smaller, just as quiet and better looking… what’s the point really? Aftermarket hepa filters are just as cheap as hvac mervs.
It is smaller than the Honeywell HPA300 plus the Honeywell at full blast is 59.5 dBa vs 41.8 dBa that we see with the Nukit Tempest. Certainly design is in the eye of the beholder I prefer the look of this but can imagine others prefer something like the Honeywell. The other benefit of this whole approach to air purifiers is that they are much easier to repair yourself as each part is off the shelf.
@@HouseFresh but it doesn’t need to run at full blast. Usually these just run at low 24/7 and keep the room at 0ppm always. Hpa300 is only 18x22x9 but to be fair the hpa200 is a better like to like comparison and it’s only 16x19x8 and even has air quality sensor and is under $200
@@darylfortney8081 That is true but I have seen big performance drop off for most retail HEPA devices when running at lower fan speeds. I totally agree that most consumers will be best off with a standard HEPA device like those you the HPA200 you recommend but I do think the future is going to include these PC fan systems as they just get a lot more performance when you account for energy and sound usage.
@@HouseFresh someone needs to come out with a nicer looking smaller version with real hepa filter compatibility and auto air quality sensing with variable speed and off the shelf and ill bite… bonus points for homekit compatibility
@@darylfortney8081 I agree and I think we will start to see more devices that will have more of these features. I recently tested the AirFanta 3pro and its super easy to put together and has variable speed. As soon as I see interesting new devices I will grab them and do a review so you are aware :)
Hello, nice video! which one of these purifiers would you recommend for dust?
Always depends on the room size but you can't go wrong with the Levoit Vital 200S, or the Winix 5500-2.
I'd like to see a tissue test of the intake air pulling the tissue against it. Just to see if it actually pulls the air in at all.
Good idea will film this soon!
Is that a big advantage that it has pre wash filter compare to levoit 300s? Thanks bro❤
Yeah and the fan motor is more efficient compared to the core 300x.
Please can you review the Mitsubishi MAE85R Air Purifier ?… thank you 🙏🏻
Yes will look into that unit at some point! Thanks for sharing.
I actually love that it doesn't have all these unneeded wireless options. It needs to clean the air not pollute it with wireless junk. And just because others copied the round design does not mean their design is outdated :P Not fudding here or being negaive towards you. Love the review. Different people, different wishes I guess. Thanks for the review.
I agree that the simpler features can be a highlight as more and more units use smart features that don’t really add anything truly useful. A good brand to look at if you like that is smart air who just have simple buttons with no WiFi or auto mode. Thanks for your kind words and appreciate your input on this device and you are certainly not alone in wanting a device without the wireless junk!
Love the review, I have 2 of these for bedrooms and i love them. My biggest complaints are that you cant use pet mode without the app, and it may be a “me” issue but my Alexa has trouble setting the modes over voice
They need to have buttons for pet moded! No got Alexa but will have to get one for testing. Thanks for your kind words, had issues with the mic so this video took longer to get published.
What do you think about shark neverchange. I was thinking about getting the Shark Neverchange for 300 dollars. It's for a house and we have a dog, 2 cats and a 5 year old. I plan on moving it between the living room and basement.
Have received a lot messages about the Shark Neverchange so will need to test soon. In all my years, most filters that’s promise that they don’t need to change usually don’t match up to expectations but will go in with an open mind. I did like the build quality of the shark hp102 but is generally too high cost for the performance to make it a device I recommend.
Have you heard of the Briiv sustainable air purifier? Would you be willing test and review their product? www.briiv.co.uk/products/briiv
Great review as always.
@@gustopherdanso thank you 🙏
Would you be interested in trying the P14 Max?
Yes got a plan to test a number of different fan and filter combos and share the results!
@@HouseFresh Awesome!
How does it compare to the Blast Mini? It has an impressive CADR and is very quiet as well.
Blast Mini has a much bigger CADR and runs quite a bit louder at full speed. But you could run the blast mini at lower fan speeds for similar level of sound. Will look at showing performance comparison with DIY devices when we do the video review for the Smart Blast Mini.
I think you should try SickleFlow Fans and a 3M Filter
I did look but I think the 3m sizes won't fit but will double check. Will test a range of fans including Sickleflow.
@@HouseFresh Oh damn. From what I have heard 3M filters are the best. If they don't fit I don't know what to choose instead

I bought it for travel in hotel rooms and now its in my bedroom. Its quiet, not very powerful but helps keep the air in a small area clean.
It’s a very easy device to travel with and I could also see it being useful in a vehicle. My concern is that using it much larger spaces will leave you very long running costs as filter need replacing so quickly. But glad you found it valuable for your use case.
What is the best air purifier that can also be used as a fan in the summer at the same time ?
It’s not the fastest air purifier but is a good fan is the Dyson TP07 - housefresh.com/dyson-purifier-cool-tp07-review/ I did try a cheaper knockoff version but was much worse as both a fan and air purifier - housefresh.com/ultty-cr-021-review/ In most cases better to have a separate powerful fan and air purifier as combo costs much more.
@@HouseFreshthank you so much for answering really appreciate it. I agree I’m going to get a separate purifier for house all year round and then a separate fan just for summer. What do you think is best for pets and pet odors, low energy consumption automatic sensor so only works when needed. Small to Medium 3 bed house will keep in lounge mostly but sometimes main bedroom (or I could get a smaller separate one for main bedroom . do you think the Winex A230 one would be ok or too small. I’m Confused. 😬 Lounge and bedroom is 30sq meters. Would prefer something on the small medium size
@@helenalovelock1030 Are you based in the UK? If so I would look at the Winix Zero SE as it has auto-mode and good performance to £ ratio. If you have a Costco membership they sell them often quite cheap there plus you get a years worth of filters with them. This also has a removal pre-filter which will make life easier with pets as you will find the pre-filter will get quite full with hair and dander. I would try just having one device and moving it to see if that helps and if you find that one useful then look into a separate unit for the bed room. Its fairly light so easy enough to move. Hope that helps but let me know if you need more info/options.
@@HouseFresh awww that’s amazing Thankyou sooo much yes o am UK
@@HouseFresh there are a few winix zero models. Can you supply a link the one you mean please ?
12:02 the putty knife (or simple dinner knife) is CRUCIAL for getting the filters in for me; I also started using a lot of black duct tape to help with sturdiness and make up for any air space I ended up with
I only realised after trying it without but it’s key.
5:48 I promise I hold the world record for slowest assembly time on one of these kits. (Yet I keep coming back for more) 😅
👏👏👏
I find it easier to turn the unit upside down to install the top lid.
Good tip will try this next time!
How does this compare to the clean air kit when it comes to performance, noise, cost and energy consumption?
Got a review coming out soon that compares. But in short the Luggable XL is quieter, better performance but uses more energy.
@@HouseFresh Hm okay then the Luggable XL sounds better to me. I would assume that the energy consumption is still amazing, even if it is a lil worse. I am a little disappointed tho, because the Tempest looks a lot nicer and I was hoping that it is also the better product in general.
@@HouseFresh Does the Luggable use different fans? If so it would be interesting to know how the Tempest performs with the cooler master fans of the Luggable XL7
@@HouseFresh Or does the 3M filter from the Luggable make a difference?
@@HouseFresh On the website of clean air kit they also compare the arctics with the cooler master ones. The one from cooler master seem to be better in general.
Bummer, we can't get this shipped to CA due to overzealous regulations
So I did hear that they are working on the California regulation requirements so will be available once that is done.
Hey man, I’m very confused on what air purifier to get. I’ve DM’d you on Instagram for some help, would appreciate it if you could give your insight 🙌🏽
Hold the filter button to reset ??? Really only took me 2 hrs on the internet to figure this out !! poor service
They really should have an icon on the control panel to make this easier to understand.
Thank you! I have a compromised respiratory system and I’m moving into off-campus student housing of questionable quality (moldy), so the discovery of air purifiers is really calming my concerns. Looking forward to the Nukit review.
Glad to help. You will pleased to know that the Nukit Tempest review is live already: kzread.info/dash/bejne/eKFoladuorKfgtI.html hope you enjoy.
For anyone who doesn’t want to pay $200+ for flimsily hardboard.. look up DIY shop air cleaners most typically involve a box fan and square filter
Those DIY shop air cleaners are great but often will run much louder due to the fan they use. But certainly much cheaper to build I agree.
Also you can buy these pre assembled right cos 😅
haha I think they just come as the this, but I'm sure you get used to building them. 😅
They are available pre-assembled in the USA but not outside USA
I was really considering this before I settled on the Air fanta 3pro from Adam Wong. Glad you're comparing these. Hope we can get a head to head in the future 🙏🏾
Had the same idea, will work on this after the reviews are out.
I have both and they definitely aren’t apples to apples! I love the AirFanta 3Pro for price and ease of assembly but only plan to use it on full power in rare circumstances since it’s so loud. (Like if someone is sick or if I need to clean an unoccupied room quickly after workers have been in my house, etc.)
Is it even possible to get genuine filters from Alen here in the UK? I bough 3 x 45i air filters from Amazon a few years back before they stopped stocking them. How did the tests go with the the generic filter?
Sadly it looks like you can't get genuine anymore which is a shame. I tested our 45i with Pureburg filter and they performed just as well as genuine filters.
@@HouseFresh that’s good to know thank you.
Hi, thanks for the video. Wasn't there some sort of plastic "grill" for covering the filter faces? This was the piece I had the most trouble getting on the first time, and I am dreading changing my filters out because I will have to take those pieces off and on again without shredding the MDF.
There is a grill you can buy but it was extra and didn’t come with my kit. I did find the grill bit challenging so taped it down to make to a little easier. They do say you don’t have to use the grill if you don’t want to. I don’t think it looks bad with just the filters as the filtrete ones look pretty pro.
@@HouseFresh Ah, OK thank you!
We've expanded the slots a tad on the grill frame so new ones slip on/off easier.
@@cleanairkits Glad to hear it! Any advice for a set I already have with the very tight fit?

is it better than XIAOMI Smart Air Purifier 4 Pro EU Air Purifier? What would u choose?
It tested yet but will be soon.
@@HouseFresh in a week?
@@Christofer777 Likely not as quick as that. I did some basic desk research and the this device has higher CADR 294 cfm vs 243 for the Winix. It doesn't have a removal pre-filter but does have app support. Filters seem to be well stocked and not excessive price. Sensor looks and screen looks to be better than the Winix so depends on how much you value that and if you are willing to pay more for them. Another one to consider in the EU would be the winixeurope.eu/air-purifiers/winix-air-purifier-zero-s/ I tested it and it performed as well as the Winix 5500-2 and was much cheaper here in the UK - £149 from Costco. What price are you seeing for the Xiaomi?
@@HouseFresh Thank u so much for this information, i will look closely. Really appreciate!
Thank you. You made me decide which Levoit I wanted.
Glad to help!
I’m having a baby in September and looking for a good air purifier! We live off a dirt road and have two cats so it gets really dusty and stuffy. We have 2 small levoit air purifiers that just don’t cut it even with dusting and vacuuming. Hoping to find a purifier that’s got some power to it!😁
Congratulations on the new baby 👶 Air purifier brands don’t make it easy as they often exaggerate room sizes so makes it super confusing for consumers. One of my recent videos has some good general tips to help you choose: kzread.info/dash/bejne/oHln149rddy9XdY.htmlsi=fhZMpduulnkPQ6vs
Does it work for pet fur 😅
Should be good for pet hair. You likely find you need to clean the pre filter more often but this has a good removal pre-filter.
looking forward to the review. hope it comes out soon.
Working on this week 🫡
I am really confused when it come to this model. Some places it says it is the best budget air purifier out there. Some say it is a total scam. How can the impressions be so different? Where does the truth lie?
It’s a good device for the type but you get much better if you are open to spending more money. The only scam thing I can think is that they said it was HEPA grade filter but it wasn’t. But lower grade filters work better for small air flow devices like these . Send me the links for the scam as haven’t seen what is out there.

I’m planning to use mine as our “if someone is sick” purifier (outside of their isolation room) since it’s so loud and I’m spoiled with the quiet Clean Air Kits. I mean, I’ll continue to use it at half power on a day-to-day basis too.
The clean air kits have got great default sound level. I have made sure to test particle performance at lower voltages quieter voltages. The fact that you can travel easily is a plus but I have only tried the luggable.
