Brad and Bruce Williamson are brothers-- just having fun designing the best balsa gliders that are light-weight, easy to build, and fly for a very long time. Each glider is carefully hand-crafted and yet, no two gliders are ever exactly alike. We have plans to post many flights, so we hope you will enjoy watching some of our most successful catapult launched gliders (CLG) here on this channel. As always, thanks for watching, liking, and subscribing!
Enjoy flight and enjoy life, my friends!

MAGIC ...
Nice, very good
WAUW! I'm hooked... Stacking up on balsa! Many thanks from Denmark :)
How fun is that! Gotta go see one of these events.
NIGHTHAWK GD REFERENCE LIMBO FOCUS FIR IN THE HOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!111!!!111
Just ordered and downloaded the plans can I ask what sort of glue you're using please? Utter novice so appreciate the help
Gorilla brand super glue is my favorite. You can easily find that in most hardware and grocery stores. You’ll want a super glue that has a medium viscosity. “Regular” super glue is typically way too thin. You can find other brands of medium viscosity CA glue and balsa at hobby stores. Thanks for buying the plans! 😊
Many thanks appreciate you taking the time to reply.
So tiny😊
I'm wondering what Greta Thumberg think about this...🤣😂
Onde encontro plantas ?
Thanks Ross. Beautiful flight man.
I’m a beginner, and I have a question. How do you reduce the elevator of the glider? My glider was going in loops after I launched it, I tried to slightly increase nose ballast, but it still when in loops and I don’t know how to reduce the up elevator. Thank you for making this video, it really helped!
Cut 2 strips of balsa 1/8x1/32x1/32 and glue one on each underside trailing edge of left and right stabilizer next to the fuselage. This will help reduce the loopiness of the launch. I call these “trim tabs.” If still too loopy, add more until you get desired result.
Love it... I'm an older guy who has played with balsa gliders, foam gliders, plastic gliders all my life... nothing more fun.., ☺️
Are the glider kits and plans still for sale, and does anyone know how long shipping takes
When I was younger there were several companies making CO2 motors but seems to be only one now? I converted several rubber powered free flight modes to CO2 power and they flew much better. Interesting fact.. the fins on the cylinder head are to absorb heat not to cool the motor.
please anyone specify the all the things required separately..
Has Ross built battery powered electric models? Seems they would stay aloft longer than CO2 powered ships, but this one is cool.
ありがとうございます!
Thank you!
its really //////?
loved the Sandpiper, purchased all 3 plans to build with my boys. Just a quick question, what are the measurements you do for the wings leading edge when you slice at 0.37? I couldn't see them in the drawing. Again love these kits and thank you
I need a charger, not cartridges
great video does anyone know where can I purchase a charger for co2 cartridges?
Thanks for the compliment. But we cannot help you regarding CO2 cartridges. Sorry.
I recently just got finished building a 12 inch sand piper for my fleet! Its a great looking glider, but I can only get it to do about 12 second flights. I was wondering weather you could tell me where the best place is for the CG? at the moment on mine its about 40% back, but ive tried closer to the edge of the wing and more near the back. I just wanted to know if there was an average CG for the sand piper so I can use it as a good place to start. Anyway nice video, keep up the good work
Thanks! Glad you like the glider! 😊 I find the best CG is at 50-55% back from leading edge! If you glide looks good, and you’re only getting just 12s flight, I suspect glider weight might be a factor. Balsa selection is key. Try to build a 6-8g glider and fly on calm days. Wind and launching technique can also play role in flight time. Good luck!
@@NighthawkGliders ok thanks l will give that a try! I will also probably build a second one to compare the difference. Im going to a model shop soon so I will make sure to pick up a selection of different balsa sizes and see what works best, and anyway experimenting is all part of the fun! Thanks for the feedback. 😊
Oh my, the shot at 8:14 is missing how much you are tilting the tail piece to the right. It was so confusing, Isn't it possible to re-shoot that bit & give ppl a sense of how much to tilt? I love these little gliders. They work so well, but if ppl get lost at any point, they give up. Just re shoot the build section where you align the gluing on of the tail. Cheers. Great glider regardless of my b*tching & moaning!
Yeah, sorry. A failure on my part. You’ll want the tail to lean about 1/4 inch lower on one side than the other. If you are right-handed, lean tail to the right as viewed from the back. This will cause a counter-clockwise glide. Reverse the lean if you are left-handed for a clockwise turn.
I followed your videos and built the Sandpiper. It tends to dive and changing the ballast doesn’t seem to remedy. Could you do a video on other ways to trim or fix this problem.
it could be that your airfoil is comprimised...
That little motor is amazing!!!
I could totally get into these! Where can I get a kit?
where do I get full size plans for this!!
Penemuan luar biasa penerbangan dalam ruangan yang sangat indah
Ya, ini luar biasa!
Need a big bath tub to make such large sheets of microfilm! Do you use nitrate, colloidal, and castor oil?
What CA glue did you use when you put it on top of the gorrila wood glue?
That was CA Glue Accelerator. It’s a special liquid that helps the CA Glue cure almost instantly. You can find it in your local hobby store and online.
@@NighthawkGliders awesome thanks! And we need more videos, they are really good vidoes! And where is this 18inch sandpiper template?
3rd time's the charm
I was so lucky that the glider realized it was not ready and returned to me for more needed trims so it can give us a spectacular show. What an amazing flight! 😊
@@NighthawkGliders It went really well! Where can I find plans for the Sandpiper 12"?
NighthawkGliders.com/store
@@NighthawkGliders Thanks, I bought the plan. :)
you guys should make a glider with a model rocket engine to get it super high up!
watching this in January 23’ great to see a new one get air in her wings;
I had a stroke and. just found you in 2023. hope you are still flying . godbless you both.thank you. from Suffolk, England. Jan 23’
CO2 is old school!
Maybe, but turns more heads than electric 😂
Ross is the Boss !!
I used to be in the royal navy, and served on Ark Royal ; R09 takes me back . xx
I’m sure you have seen many of planes catapulted into the skies on the HMS Ark Royal Aircraft Carrier. That’s cool! 😎
just found your channel. going to build these for my grandson. respect from Suffolk, England.
Welcome aboard! We hope you have a great building experience with your grandson!
aged 64 in 23' happy new year and thank you for the video . great project for my grandson and me. here in Suffolk, England. . well done to even I can make this after a stroke took half of my brain out fair winds guys xx
Happy New Year! I hope you and your grandson have a great time with the Sandpiper. It’s an easy build and does not disappoint! 👍😊
3.4 grams really boggles the mind!
Absolutely does!
Amazing model
NighthawkGliders.com/store. Plans are available.
What are the measurements for wing and tail placement on the fuselage?
Built the kestrel 12. Very impressed with the balsa quality. Got it trimmed out in the yard. Waiting for a suitable day to try the catapult.
Thanks for buying one! 😊
Great video! You seem like a very nice person too. Greetings from Brazil.
Hi Lucas! Thanks!
Interesting that the little guy stay up longer
mine broke in the same place. I glued it back together and added 1/32 splint on each side, it flew better than ever lol
Poezja.
amazing!
... maybe you should try to start "Daddy F3" by tip launch, maybe you've already tried ... ? Great behavior of the "F3" in the air ...
