"Why would a God create people SO imperfect, then BLAME them for their own imperfections? Then send his son to be tortured and executed by those imperfect people, to make up for how imperfect people were; and how imperfect they were going to be?" -Julia Sweeney, Letting Go of God
"That may be the most important thing to understand about humans. It is the unknown that defines our existence. We are constantly searching, not just for answers to our questions, but for new questions. We are explorers." -Commander/Captain Benjamin Sisko, Star Trek: Deep Space 9
"Destroying an Empire to win a war is no victory. And ending a battle to save an Empire is no defeat." -Kahless the Unforgettable, 1st Emperor of the Klingon Empire
Every gun that is made, every warship launched, every rocket fired, signifies in the final sense a theft from those who hunger and are not fed, those who are cold and are not clothed.

Why did they change his face?
Man I don't remember seeing some of these places when I last played it. Might want to revisit it with neat developer commentary enabled
i agree
It breaks my heart this game runs so poorly on modern PCs. It was truly something special.
We want to know what happened to Enterprise E, Worf! 😐😆
Blue skies...
I remember bawling my eyes out when this aired. "I should have done this a long time ago." "You were always welcome." Ugh, I still feel it.
Why would a civilian ship be cloaked?
This had no business being in Star Trek I don't care what anyone thinks it was just forced racism in the 24th freaking century
"We don't put civilians at risk to save ourselves" Ok tell that to the Maqui, to Eddington
Hindsight so not a fair point. Also, Sisko didn’t poison a Maquis planet to save himself. He did an attempt to prevent war.
"In 1962, Black People weren't welcomed in Las Vegas"...well, not with THAT attitude!
Israeli palestine conflict be like:
I like Invisible War's simpler, more straightforward story, though I do miss the extensive lore and worldbuilding from the original game (which, let's face it, was a little TOO complicated - I'd like to see it novelised, even though it'd be about 1,000 pages long). It's a game I have VERY mixed feelings about. I don't hate it, but what does annoy me is how it self-terminates and restarts every time you load a new map or saved game (I'm not joking - IW is programmed to quit itself and then reboot itself whenever this happens - try running the PC version in a window instead of a full screen and you'll see what I mean)... I mean, why? That aside, I don't mind it, but it feels like it could have been so much more - such a lost opportunity. With that said, when we do get to hear JC speak again, it's a wonder for the ears, and that's the Deus Ex I want to remember. :)
"We don't put civilians at risk, or even potentially at risk." lol that's rich coming from you Sisko
I think Cassidy made a great point. Here's why? Through out the Star Trek Universe characters have mentioned their heritage. Picard-French, O'Brien-Irish, Chekoc-Russian, Sisko-Black American, Chakotay-Native Indian, Kira-Dakhur Province of Bajor and many more. All of them have mentioned the good bad and the ugly of its heritage history. However, for humans it's more to it. You have your ethnic heritage and the fact that everyone is the same race, "human." I like how Picard explained The United Federation of Planets in ST First Contact. Earth in the future has, no racism, discrimination, poverty, disease and no money in the sense that we understand. The entire human race lives to better ourselves and the rest of humanity. Which as of right now we are far from that mindset.
【Shades Finnish Pirates】Bloodlines 2 has failed in my eyes already, Bloodlines will remain the legend it once was and it has memories stitched to my heart forever
And now here we are, AI is present and I just read Elon Musk got a subject with an implanted chip moving a computer mouse around with his mind. This been planned for a long time, this game is decades years old. The same ones behind it's development I bet knew way back then what was planned for today😮
Funny how the new game utterly fails in doing proper tailers to display the game. The old one was a broken mess, but, It had charm in every single aspect of it, even in the trailers! Man, VTMB2 is going to be a forgettable mediocre generic nothing!
What annoys me about this episode is that I think it's a reasonable assumption to make that a decloaking ship is a warship so I'm not even sure there should have been a court martial. If the rules of engagement that you and potentially adversaries have agreed upon are that you do not fire on civilian vessels, then there is no need to have cloaked civilian vessels, as your adversary will not fire upon them therefore they don't need concealing, and in fact civilian ships should be as easily identifiable as possible so that they are not fired upon. Cloaked vessels obviously being cloaked are not identifiable, and since vessels cloaking or decloaking are at their most vulnerable, this is the best time to fire upon them. In a real world parallel, the Geneva convention specifies that hospitals should not be attacked, and that they shall be marked with an emblem to make them clear to enemy forces. The Federation response to the extradition request should have been "why was military equipment like a cloaking device on a civilian vessel?" I frankly don't see anything wrong with what Worf did, even if it was a "civilian" vessel.
I didn't care for this argument back then, but now it's actually really relevant given how so, so much media wants to forget about this part of our past so they can get brownie points just to brag about having a diverse cast. I'm almost certain the current writers of Star Trek would never write a heroic character like this to disagree with their own views like this, even if they do end up coming around at the end
I watched STOS as a child. I was in my college days when STNG was new. Now I'm looking at the last scene of the last episode, and reading comments from people who were reminiscing about this seven and eight years ago. We have Lower Decks now. Strange New Worlds. Space Above and Beyond. Starship Enterprise. Picard the TV series. Now even the stars are not the limit!
The writing in this scene is so good. In 4 minutes it covers theology, philosophy, politics and the human nature and communicates its ideas well enough to be understood. There's even another layer of irony to it, this 4 minute speech is a generality in light of just how deep these topics can go.
Theology? It makes 1 or 2 generally anti-theistic comments and then discusses political organization.
The character Worf was a true and honourable warrior. He understood the difference between pride and honour. Honour will forfeit pride when the right thing must be done.
I took a sci fi class in high school. It was an English class. We had to write essays on what the show or movie was trying to tell us. St tng was first contact. After watching it i was hooked. I would come home from school and watched it on syndication. Eventually i figured out new episodes were on Saturday afternoons. The last episode aired around the time i graduated. It still is bittersweet. Both my childhood and this show ended around the same time.
Worf really evolved immensely on DS9. I think this took him to the evolution of his character that we see on Picard.
Were is morgan evrett??
Best " Star Trek " ever.
I really like Avery Brooks as Cisco captain Cisco I know voice to text is not spelling the name correctly but there's nothing I can do about it my hands don't work right now I like what he says when he says it like Cisco would say it he just does a wonderful job he says wait till you have four pips on that collar... He says the right thing at the right time in the right way so that his officer can hear it. Every time he played Cisco you forgot that this was an actor play a role he played it to perfection,
Worf’s lines 😂 Four hands in a row. How does he do it ? Agreed.
Hey, I'm looking for a video of all talk-bullets from the radio presenter but I can't find any so since you like to make clips of Deus Ex 2, do you mind making one which shows all of the talk-bullets? 😉
If you’re talking about the radio show host Lazarus, there is a video on my Deus Ex playlist of all his entries from Human Revolution .
@@Rashaed Oh hell no, I just watched a video which included some of Square Enix's Deus Ex Human Revolution and I had to stop watching because of how much cringe Human Revolution's scenes were and I'm so glad I didn't play any of Square Enix's Deus Ex because I saw enough to know for sure that I would have hated it as much as any other Square Enix games and that they are nothing like the original Ion Storm's games. I was talking about the radio show host from DEUS EX 2, the one who interviews every important people from Deus Ex 2 on radio and never lets them talk because he always interrupts them as soon as they start to speak and the show is called the Talk-Bullet Show. I was looking for a video which shows all of these radio shows from Deus Ex 2 but no one made one yet. 😒
@@Maxime_Martyr oh, you mean from those news kiosks scattered about the game? The ones with the floating holo globe?
@@Rashaed Yeah, that's what I'm talking about! 😉 Since no one made a video to show them all and since you made clips from Deus Ex 2, do you mind making a clip of all the talk-bullet radio shows from Deus Ex 2? 😉
You know, Keiko O'Brien went into botany and her life was full of some crazy shit. Makes you wonder what Sisko's really saying here.
Sisko grew a lot in this episode, it's very easy to hang on to racial tension no matter what race you are. Letting go of hate and enjoying life is much more important.
This is really like the plot of ghost in the shell
Star Trek Casting: Hi Mr. Brooks. This role is a bit complex, as you will be the captain of a space station, during war time. You will also have a child aboard, and may have to make some controversial decisions as captain. AND, we're going to make you a religious figure to a war torn species, because a different alien species..uhm, chose you to communicate with. And, we're going to have the usual, Klingong and Romulan and...no Vulcans..hehe can you believe that? But we are going to have shapeshifters as the main enemy. Do you think you can swing it. Brooks: I LOVE BASEBALL, hold my beer!
Such a great moment
JC is the one charater in Invisible War that speaks like a Deus Ex character. It's like he was written by someone who wrote the previous game, and everyone else was by a different guy.
Sisko being based as always
He looks like cobson in the thumb-ACK!
Stepping into the holodeck recreation of 1960s Las Vegas for 24th century citizens would be as trivial as us going to Medieval Times Dinner Theater. I understand why this exchange between Sisko and Cassidy took place, it was more to inform kids of the 90s that the real 60's Vegas was not inclusive or inviting as the show's depiction is. However, I much prefer the take that Uhura had on the past in TOS "The Savage Curtain." When called a "charming negress" by the recreated Abraham Lincoln, and then quickly apologizing for it, Uhura responds: "But why should I object to that term, sir? You see, in our century, we've learned not to fear words." In the future of Star Trek, we have not forgotten our past, but we no longer let it define who we are and where we are going together.
For those that have seen the deleted scenes on Star Trek Picard season 3...there is a scene between Worf and Riker that well brings this particular scene back to mind.
While Patrick Stewart is an excellent actor and did a fine job on TNG, Avery Brooks was one of the best actors in Star Trek, and was the most interesting captain of them all. Colm Meany as Chief O’Brien did a fabulous job and I really liked how they expanded his role in DS9.
I listen to this while I lift no bullshit
Glad it’s helping you keep the pace! 😃
@@Rashaed have a great day thank you 🙌
Starkly military in a world that seems to hide military realities as much as possible.
Considering the timeline. Worf's promotions through the ranks have been GLACIAL.
Civilians would be on a cloaked ship VERY UNLIKELY. Worf was right in his assumption even though he did fire.
A civilian ship shouldn't just roll into a battle zone and not expect to get blasted. I know this was a Klingon farce and a deception.
"A hell of a captain someday" who loses the Enterprise-E 😂
A Klingon Botanist. That would be something.
Sisko... the only one that can intimidate Worf. RIP Jadzia.
Wait 'til you get four pips on your collar. You'll wish you had gone into botany...One of my favorite Sisko quotes.
