James Bruton

Former toy designer, current KZread maker and general robotics, electrical and mechanical engineer, I’m a fan of doing it yourself and innovation by trial and error. My channel is where I share some of my useful and not-so-useful inventions, designs and maker advice. Iron Man is my go-to cosplay, and 3D printing can solve most issues - broken bolts, missing parts, world hunger, you name it.

Won't changing the direction of the wheels from sideways to forward make it a more practical solution providing higher forward or backward movement speeds and lower sideway movement speeds?

This could be incredibly useful for film and cinema application. You can get some really smooth shots on a nonlinear path without needing to have or program a super complicated rig, or asking your camera man to run at top speed for the duration of the shot. Just jump on the bike with a gimble and you can get pretty close to the same kind of thing with full human control behind the shot.

So we can see it can go side to side and in circles but how well can it hold a straight line? If it's going to be something that someday might replace our conventional means of transportation then a straight line is important. You don't want someone driving down the interstate and end up totally sideways. Will it go perfectly straight without kicking out to the side?

I love this. It’s such a silly and needless thing to build, but it looks like so much fun. I’m sure it is also a cool application of math stuff that I am not clever enough to understand. Because really, science isn’t about asking “why?” It’s about asking “why not?”

There are so many things, that was seen by first sight. And even than, there wasn't any mechanical or construction tests, BEFORE the prototyp is made. Cool project. But I hope that other doesn't make the same mistake and invest unnecessary time and material into projects like that.

@James Bruton , I think changing the controlls to where both twistgrips controll your motion in a "tank-track-controll" fashion might be better , one switch coulf change to reverse and one could change steering from absolute to "regenerative" steering

Awesome video! I can imagine an "omnicar" with these wheels. It'd be super-easy to park - just pull up alongside a space and go sideways! I'd love to see you build one!

Maybe a different geometry of the wheels could help this project, like elliptical or hyperbolic wheels.
