Hello and welcome to Livin Life Loud. We are Joy and Larry. Our life philosophy is Live Life Loud which means FULLY showing up and participating in life and making it count. For the majority of my life I lived in fear, afraid of living and struggled with severe anxiety and depression. I found being in nature, adventuring, and extreme sports helped me feel alive and actually helped my anxiety and depression tremendously. I vowed to never again let life pass by me by only surviving. I wanted to live and LIVE FULLY. Twenty months ago Larry and I downsized all our personal belongings, rented out our home in Florida and have set out in our RV exploring the United States. We share our adventures in hiking, mountain biking, skydiving, riding motorcycles, and wellness tips and hacks that keep us in good shape to do all the things we so LOVE to do.
Our new passion is motorcycle adventures. We recently completed at 9300 mile trip from Arizona to Alaska.

When we made this video there was no electric fee for monthly stays. When we went back a year later there was a $75 monthly electric fee. Now the fee is $100 according to their website.

I just had a spill off road (see my video on my channel). Caught a rut and went down. I am super gun shy now and my buddies and I leave for Moab, Shafers trail, etc next week. I ride a GSA R1200. How technical is Shafer? Ruts? Thank you for your great video. Kevin
I will check out your video. I thought Shafer was easy and spectacular. We want to ride it again in reverse. I don’t remember any ruts at all but I am sure that could change with rainy weather. That was Joy’s first major off road adventure and she handled it like a boss. Don’t be gun shy about this road. You will have a blast! -Larry
I’ve done this ride many times . Not as scenic as taking the Beeline Hwy to Lake Mary Rd back down Oak Creek Canyon/Sedona to Jerome over Mingus Mtn into Prescott down through Skull Valley and back on the Carefree Hwy.

This is a great achievement. I was planing to go to Alaska 2023 but they stole my bike. This year 2024 if everything goes well, I am heading up there in the middle of June.

Time to trade in for a trike
Excellent video. I ride an F750GS which gets excellent mileage. Hoping for a MN to Prudhoe round trip in late July. I’m an Iron Butt rider so I’d try to burn as many miles (on good roads) as possible. Loved your breakdown of costs and tips. BTW, I’ve got 47 years of mining experience.

@@bearbear8039It is not easy to find people to be off for 5-6 weeks. Last year I wanted go to Alaska I could not find anyone available the same time as me. I posted in many FB groups but no luck. On top of that they stole my bike. I hope this year I will have a change to go there.

Hi Rick! It was great meeting you as well. Joy has some family in Ohio so a trip up there this summer is definitely a possibility. We were up there this past summer and planned to ride the Tripple Nickle but they were doing a lot of surface paving so we took another route instead. We started in Parkersburg and made our way up to Senecaville Lake, then over to Columbus. Some great riding for sure. We do need to get back up there and ride the Tripple Nickle though. hello! I came across your youtube channel by accident and I love your videos. I'm so jealous of your life, you're having such great adventures! I also have an F900XR I'm 5'9" and I'm considering the wunderlich low seat, are they much more comfortable than the stock seat?
Hello, thank you for your comments. At the time when I got the Wunderlich seat it was the only aftermarket seat available. It was better than stock but I now have a Sargent Heated Seat. It is regular height which still works for me since the bike is a low suspension. I have a 30 in inseam and the regular seat fits well and provides more padding and the heat of course. Wunderlich does not make a heated seat. Sargent can also custom make a low seat if you need it.

Thanks moto-rollin. So glad you enjoy our videos. Unfortunately life has gotten in the way and we don’t get the opportunity to travel as much as we did before. We are planning an update video with an upcoming trip to South Texas. Hopefully we’ll have something posted in the next month.

Hey Larry & Joy. First off, I just wanted to say, my wife and I really enjoyed your Alaska episodes. Watched them all together today. These are put together nicely and with Joy doing the naration, it makes for some easy to watch & listen to content. I'm going to be 65 in December of 2024. I have the Alaska trip on my "Bucket List" for the summer of 2025 leaving from Southern Indiana though. My trusty steed is an 09' BMW G650GS. I've already started to do some planning. I've just purchased a Klim Carlsbad Jacket and Carlbad Pants as I don't want to have to mess with the hassel of rain gear. I do have one question as to your episodes. You said you went to Prudhoe Bay, but, I didn't see any footage of you guys on the way to Prudhoe Bay. Did I somehow miss it in one of the last episodes ? I just subbed you btw.

Thanks for the video. How many miles is the trail total? Time from start to finish?
Ah, chain maintenance. I'm sure you'll hear different versions of it but to be right up front about it, it all depends on the conditions. Examples: rain, dry dust and dirt, MUD, etc. Mud dirt and rain at least ONCE a day. Constantly check it when you stop for a rest and inspect it. On regular conditions, I say about every 4 to 500 miles clean it, lube it with GEAR OIL, check tension. I've gone over 15,000 miles on my chain on my BMW F700GS and adjusted it twice. I've got some good life left into it but can tell it's coming to the end of its life. But I'm always cleaning it and lubing it. If you don't care about constant maintenance, then expect to replace your chain often. I always get a quality chain and something that's overrated for my bike also. Hope this helps you out. I just found your series yesterday and have been trying to binge watch (something I never do) and I'm letting the wheels roll in my head about when I went to Alaska in 2010. You guys are doin it right. You ride very well Joy for you only been riding a couple years. Cheers to both you and inspiring all us couch watchers. Actually, I'm a very active guy and just finished up a road trip on my BMW from NY to California and back with over 8000 miles on the trip. Keep up the good work with your adventures and I'm you new SUB.

I recently bought a 2006 FJR1300 from a friend of mine who lives in Tempe. I rode it up 87 to Payson, then 260 to 17, and through Sedona to Flagstaff. I stayed the night in Flagstaff. Then i took 89A all the way down almost to Congress. I went back up 89A and went all the way to Camp Verde before heading back to Phoenix on 17. All of the roads i mentioned, especially 89A, are absolutely amazing. I'll never forget it. Btw, i rolled through that stop sign as well. No bike ever stops all the for it. It's at the top of a hill and a pain in the butt for bikes behind you if you stop.
Sounded like a great ride! I rode a 2006 FJR for 7 years and put 50k miles on it. It is a great bike. Enjoy! Larry

the devils highway is originally route 666, located in new mexico now us highway 491, it was called 666 because it was the 6th us highway routing off us 66.
You are almost correct, sir. It is now US Highway 191 and nicknamed the Coronado trail.

AWESOME VIDEOS! I WATCHED ALL OF YOUR ALASKA VIDEOS TODAY. I COULD TELL YOU GUYS WERE TAKING A FIRST CLASS TRIP BECAUSE OF THE LODGING, BIKE BRAND (BMW) AND KLIM GEAR. BUT I KNOW IT WILL BE WORTH IT BECAUSE YOU WILL HOPEFULLY USE THEM MANY MORE TIMES/TRIPS. I may have gotten this turned around but when you visited one of the gold mines you mentioned that 34,000 ounces were mined with a value of $17 million. I believe that in today's market it would be worth roughly $68 million. Anyway, I felt the narration was EXCELLENT! I first drove to Alaska in 1976 when 900 miles of the Alcan was gravel. I left KY around July 21, 1976, the same day I completed taking my board exams in New Orleans and Frankfort (a six day ordeal). Two days later, while beginning my trip to Alaska, my engine blew on my 1973 VW and it had to be replaced (in Thunder Bay, ON). All in all, my trip took 42 days and cost me one windshield, six flat tires, two throttle cables and I did not keep track of the dollars. I remember the most expensive gas was on the Top of the World Highway. It was $1.00 per gallon (US) and the pump was the old style from the 1930s with a glass reservoir and a long handle. I would be excited to take a motorcycle trip up there from KY but I am almost 74 and would have to go alone, so I believe I have missed my chance. THANKS SO MUCH FOR SOME GREAT VIDEOS! I MIGHT SUGGEST IF YOU GO BACK YOU MIGHT DRIVE THE CASSIAR HWY AND ALSO VISIT HYDER AND SKAGWAY. SKAGWAY IS MY FAVORITE ALASKAN TOWN. SORRY THIS WAS SO LONG. STAY SAFE!
