What a ride, couldn’t do it on our touring bikes. I better hurry and get the Buell Blast running to try a ride like that.

Nice couple r125GS and F900XR! Same here, as of tomorrow when we pick up the F900XR. BMW Did categorize this F900 in the Adventure series and you proved they did well, with some effort and challenges. But then again, effort and challenges are needed to make the adventure, don’t they? Stay safe and have fun as much as you can!

Congrats on adding the 900XR. I so LOVE my bike. Absolutely, it’s all part of the adventure. This was my first real off-road adventure on the 900XR and fell in love with the challenge of it. I also learned that after riding Shafer and Pot Ash there isn’t much I can’t ride. This was a very challenging ride. Nothing since has come close so it was really good to boost my newbie confidence. Thanks for watching. Hope you guys enjoy your new 900. What color did you get?

Awesome ride and great learning terrain. I'm born and raised arizona and started riding dirt bikes when I was 5 or 6 years old, I'm 39yrs old now. The TS 15:30 ruff patch area, just like your husband did, when in doubt walk it out. I would drop into 1st gear, kill the engine and use the clutch as the rear braking and obviously the front break too to help control the bike down the obstacle. Great job and stay safe out there. Hope one day to see you out on the road.

Thank you Ian for your feedback. I am a fairly new rider (only been riding about 14 months). I followed Larry’s line and his recommendation but honestly should have chose my own and went with my gut instinct on how to handle it. Lesson learned, lol. I was beating myself up afterwards for not attempting it then realized my goal was to have fun and complete the ride in whatever manner was appropriate to do so. It’s okay to walk it if needed. Thanks for the reminder. Hope to see you too one day.

Get comfortable standing up on your foot pegs. All your uphill and downhill sections that are more technical, require you to be able to counterbalance the weight distribution. Have fun :)

Just saw your video and it’s absolutely gorgeous!!! But it’s a huge shame that such beauty shown in this video doesn’t have already at least 20K views!!! You see when a video don’t show itts and oobs it doesn’t attract… I’m subscribing cause ain’t have a GS as well that somewhat want to do off road with but I have to stay close to power at all times meaning a hotel room… Glad I’ve found ya and I am amazed by the drone footage but I will NOT take a stupid test to be free to do what I want… Thanks from Tucson Arizona

Thanks for the compliment! It is a beautiful place for sure! We hope to be heading to your area soon. Just waiting on it to cool down a little. We want to ride the Devil's Highway (US-191) and work our way down to Bisbee. I love mining history!

Beautiful scenery on a more challenging track than I would have been comfortable on with a 500 pound bike. I don't think I would take my Caponord on it. You handled it well. It would be interesting for you to try it again on a dual sport like a KLX 300. The level of dread diminishes to nearly nothing and you can actually enjoy the sketchier sections.

Thank you. Yes, I bought the bike in April of 2021 and this was in July of 2021 so was still very new to riding it and of course it was brand new and this was my first real off roading experience and I was quite nervous. I have developed a LOT more confidence since then thank goodness. Otherwise, the Dalton Highway wouldn't have happened. I wouldn't mind doing it again but I have a hard time with bikes due to my height and a previous injury to my left foot. I just bought a used Triumph Tiger 900 GT that is even lower than my 900XR and hoping it will handle much better for off roading since it is made for that.

Hello Viraj. I LOVE the way the 900XR handles off road. I am a fairly new rider and this is my third bike in 18 months but bought it so we could do some off-roading. I was torn between the XR and a GS but my salesman assured me that the XR was a better bang for my buck. He was right. Once I added some Michelin Anakee Adventure 80/20 tires I fell in LOVE with the way this bike handles. Shafer and Pot Ash Rd was a very difficult and technical ride and the XR handled it like a boss. I have full confidence that I can tackle pretty much any off road adventure.

You did not show how you tackled the sharp turns, why? Many riders dropped their HEAVY GS bikes on the steep way down at some of the turns!

I just had a spill off road (see my video on my channel). Caught a rut and went down. I am super gun shy now and my buddies and I leave for Moab, Shafers trail, etc next week. I ride a GSA R1200. How technical is Shafer? Ruts? Thank you for your great video. Kevin

I will check out your video. I thought Shafer was easy and spectacular. We want to ride it again in reverse. I don’t remember any ruts at all but I am sure that could change with rainy weather. That was Joy’s first major off road adventure and she handled it like a boss. Don’t be gun shy about this road. You will have a blast! -Larry

Also did a disservice making her ride a 900...just too big of a bike for her to control off-road.
