Thanks for they video bruh! In about 2 weeks i'll do the same tank swap. I have a question does the fuel gauge still work like the oem. (Sorry for the mispell English is not My mother lenguaje) Thank a Lot from México
Hi mate I know you posted this video 4 years ago but I believe I have the same exact problem with my mk4 I’m wondering if ur still in business and where about your based, I’d be happy to pay for ur service and stay around and help if possible
Is it the same gearbox with 1.4 aex engine?
I'm not 100% is your starter motor at the front or the back?
@@RestoDesignsnando front
@@shakeit6898 ok then yes it has the same 020 gearbox.
@@RestoDesignsnando thank you
Thanks it was very informative
What is the part number for the ABS ring you used? I’m about to order a pair of 9N hubs and the Epytec adapter ring. Do you have to take the current one off before fitting the Epytec one?
Thank you for making the video! Helps me hugely!!!
Glad you found it helpful👍🏼
Thanks for uploading this, really helpful. So in terms of a parts list to do this refurb, I need: 1. Ignition housing w/ bearing built in 2. Lower column bearing 3. Lower bush (your 3D printed item) Is there anything else i'm missing? Thanks
Thanks dude, glad you found this helpful 👍🏼 yes that list is right.
@@RestoDesignsnando thanks mate, I’ll be placing an order on your site soon
@@RestoDesignsnando thank you, I’ve just ordered the 3d printed bush from your site
@@ryangabb743 Thank you mate 👍🏼 will be sent off this morning
@@RestoDesignsnando Just received it, thanks for getting it send over so quickly!!
You did some great manufacturing for this mk2! 👍🏻👍🏻
Thank you mate 👍🏼
Hello, thanks for the info. May the release bearing cause the clutch to not disingage properly? Ive been having headaches for weeks trying to find the issue. The clutch is fairly new
Seriously awesome
Thank you👍🏼
Muito curioso!!!!! 🎉
Lets see what happens
Tenho o motor perfeito para fazer esse projecto de novo. Tenho um vento de 92, o qual já estiveste de frente para ele num encontro de vws Volkswhon. Ficava contente se pudesses fazer-me esse trabalho. Podíamos combinar isso.
Hello, I have a golf mk2 kr with an ABF engine and I have problems with the dealer, how exactly were you able to make it perfect, thank you
Hello, I need more information, what is your problems?
Traducir texto con tu cámara Hello, thank you for responding, my problem is that the delco of my KR is not related to the ABF engine because the stroke is too long and I have no way of getting it ready for maximum performance. I see that you name a device for the distributor. That solves this problem, thank you.
It does not relate to the ignition timing because it is different and I see that you manage to fix that problem
I just swapped my clutch and now gearbox runs all the time unless i push clutch on the floor, is this a sign on this bearing breaking or did i do something wrong
Sorry I don't understand "gearbox runs"?
@@RestoDesignsnando sorry, what i mean is, even when i dont have a gear on, cv flanges keep spinning. I have not yet installed axles just in case i need to take it apart again
@@johannesperkio1829 ok that is normal. that's just the friction of the gearbox oil. Put the shafts on. 👍🏼
Nice job bro!! Did you need to reprogram the climate control? I didn’t understand the last step
Thank yous, no you'll need to turn on the cruise control in the ECU.
Looks backwards. Wrong side of road. Driver in passanger seat. Lol
Nice video! In the rear back seats, did you car have a lower backseat bracket? Mines doesnt have, not sure how you solve this. I guess you welded it, right? Thank you!
Thanks, the rear seats are Golf mk2 60/40 split, if you are going to use the rear seats from the Golf mk3 then yes you will need to find a way to fix the centre bracket to hold the seats. I would drill holds are use m8 rivnuts.
I got a glove box to put in my cabrio that didn’t come with a glove box but I can’t seem to get it to fit
It should just be 'plug n play' they have 3 hooks at the top which need to go in at an angle to hold the upper bit.
Hi, great vid. Do you have the part number for the top radiator cover at all please?
Interesting content! I m currently restoring a 4 door MK2 GTI type 19, I got every piece to its original state. I had a problem sourcing door cards and decent seats, so I decided to restore its recaro seats and door cards and put on black leather upholstery instead of textile. Do you think that it will lose its authenticity as a classic with that leather interior ??
Hi,did you also replace the half axles with golf 3 ones?aren't they longer than the golf 2 axles?
Thank you for video.
Great eye and job well done 👍💪
Thank you so much 👍🏼
Very informative, my 1.9 pd has recently started coughing out blue/grey smoke on start up and the fumes coming from exhaust smell slightly oily even when the smoke clears (it’s there for about 30 seconds 💨 and doesn’t show any as I’m driving). I’ve read on forums, injector seals, tandem pump, turbo bearing seals. I’ve just dipped my oil (changed 3 weeks ago) and yep, it stinks of diesel 😞. In your opinion would this point more towards the seals than T pump ? The oil level hasn’t risen, it just smells. 1.9 ATD PD 2003, 118k miles. Thank you 🤙🏼🤙🏼 Edit…. Thankfully I have a place near me called “Just German Parts”, they do Febi etc.
Hi man please can you give me some contact i need help?

@@RestoDesignsnando okey so i bought a mfa speedometer and im on old installation golf so what changes do i need to do to connect all that like fuel and that info sorry for bad english its not my native language
@@RestoDesignsnando i found mfa switch but idk how to connect cables with old installation
@@RestoDesignsnando but besides that first i want to connect a cabble from alternator to rev counter how i can do it and witch wire on the jack is the for revs?
@@RestoDesignsnando if i cant make it show the fuel and that stuff i dont care i just need to connect rev counter its 1.6 petrol
You never showed how to do the other 2 seals?
Hi where do u buy led
There is a link in the description
Ever considered doing the 1.4 tsi (turbo and supercharged) swap?
Would love that, even just the Polo 6N 100hp 1.4 16v, but here it needs to look as close OE as possible. It's this or the Polo 1.6 8V motor.
Where did you get the extended hub bolts from? Standard is 10x32 so guessing it would be 10x42 for use with this plate?
Got them off eBay m10x45 12:9
@@RestoDesignsnandothanks! And did you buy the hub with the ABS ring fitted already?
intercooler oil coller is better than the water one.
There is also a 1.4 16v in the polo 6n and it has if a remember correctly 101hp. Now i know why you are putting back the original engine but it would have been interesting for sure to put that 1.4 in there. Keep up the good work.👍
Thanks, yes I think it's engine code is AFH, great little motor so I've heard, driven a few, revs well, only issue is it looks too modern. This engine is a 1.4 ABD 8V from the mk3, it should hopefully see 100hp.
Sometimes you have to go the clever way, I have sold my mk2 TDI, also because here in Denmark you have to pay a registration tax over again for the car, I it will be around 2k, so I have decided to bring my edition one 16v on the road again next summer, the benefits of waiting to next year is the car will be 35 years and I will only pay 1/4 in road tax and insurance. Anyway good luck with your project 😊
Yep in some parts of the world we have it very hard, thank you for you comment👍🏼 and you have an edition one 16V! that is amazing.
Left on a knife edge...to be continued😂...she's gonna need g60 brakes up front👍lookin foward to this build...the intake is a nice addition with the cam
Thank you, it's something a little different, I really loved the handling when the little underpowered 1.3 was in the car, hopefully this 100hp 1.4 will be a rev happy motor with character.
PS the car as it stands, all poly bushed, rear discs and rear Eibach arb, Koni yellows, full mk3 4x100 front wide track, subframe and 256mm brakes.
Good luck with the new project! 👍
Thank you.

How do we get the B and C pillars off? I really don't want to take off bottom panels to clear seat belt buckles.
hi, you make great videos! I'm busy with a 20vt swap myself. what intercooler did you use?
I have a 1995 mk3 cabrio . What exactly is needed to change it to 5 lug front and back
Everything shown in pt1 of this video and this video.
What steps are different for the 16v 2.0 ABF GTi engine?
The selector cables, the clutch slave cylinder, speedo wiring plug, and the angle to remove the gearbox due to the bigger flywheel.
What angle does it need to be as I’m struggling to get the gearbox off
@@BrandonhamonHD you need drop the engine slightly then with the gearbox loose, clock the gearbox anti clock wise.
Hi you mentioned in the video that you were going to be selling the chips is that still going to happen? if not can you recommend one, keep up the good work Cheers Tony
Ich habe mein ❤️an dieses Auto verloren.
Nice work!
Thanks!
I have qwestion does damage if we wash all engine or not i own AfN tdi inj pump
Hello and good evening to you, are you please be so kind to let know know what BV43 Turbo that was. Could you get me the part number of it so that I could search and get the right one please. Cheers
One of the best cars ever built. You must’ve gotten a lemon.
More than likely, loads of owners and mileage doesn't help.
Are these steps the exact same for a 96 2 liter GTi?
yep as the 8V GTI has the same 020 gearbox.
