Can’t find the window adapters on the site yet, so looking forward to those! I need to do this job too, just one of many! Might be worth mentioning that excessive steering column movement is an MOT and I’ve failed one of my mk2s in the past for this. So not just for driving, but may be needed to pass too! Ye I got an advisory for mine. On my list of jobs as well

My indicator lever got loose, so I was looking for a steering column disassembly video, and you put me onto something I didn't realise was happening! I honestly can't imagine how my golf would feel with no play in the steering column... Great to see someone still actively working on one of these cars!

Hi there! I have renewed the whole heater system and I'm having troubles putting again the left side air pipe, it goes above the steering column and looks like I cannot put it back if I don't take the column out, it's that right? Can I unscrew only the 2 upper screws and then try to fit it?

Thanks for uploading this, really helpful. So in terms of a parts list to do this refurb, I need: 1. Ignition housing w/ bearing built in 2. Lower column bearing 3. Lower bush (your 3D printed item) Is there anything else i'm missing? Thanks

I haven't done it on my MK3 yet but I do believe the columns are almost identical. They do share most if not all of the same parts.

also that lower u joint for the steering column, does that go bad too?

Yes that can wear and have free play when turning the steering wheel, this is about up and down, and side to side free play in the column.
