Wow....I do agree that she may have given too much information to the media. But saying what she said was too honest. The coach is right, bad shots are inefficient shots, period. HER success is based on wins! Not how many long 3's Clark takes. If she misses too many, they lose. If she makes a couple, they lose. Coach is OUT if they lose.

This coach has an "air" about her and sounds like she's not a fan of Caitlin....her public comments are very poorly thought out and has not handled their very short relationship well IMO....Caitlin has some things to learn and possibly change, and the scrutiny from opponents and veteran players have been expectedly tough, but the head coach has been totally out of line!

Coach does NOT want to build around CC - she wants CC to be a cog in her losing game plan. Jesus Christ, it's SO obvious. Id give Sides two more games and then she's gone. Wonder what the owners think of their shiny new sports car being slowed down by their coach?

The coach told it like it was and if anyone watched the 1st they would have noticed the same thing BUT, she still scored 20 and had crazy turnovers. It’s OK ! She is still learning the pro level so things will be fine. As far as anything else goes this is a adults league so suck it up and get better

Typically the uninformed become upset at uncomfortable truths. IMO everything this coach said was the truth. How is what she said a fireable offense? The shots Clark took in college aren't going to be there at the next level. Look how long it took for Ionescu to adapt her game to the Association. If Clark wants to have continued success, especially beyond the arc, she's going to need to shoot long 2's to keep these bigger and quicker defenders honest. Not to mention opening up the passing lanes and her drives to the cup. If she doesn't heed her coaches remarks she'll continue to have poor percentages from beyond the cup and around the nail.

If the coach is fired it’s going to turn Clark into a spoiled brat like LeBron. What the coach said was spot on, if Phil Jackson said it there wouldn’t be a problem. She’s new to the Pro game and yes she will have to make adjustments. She has to be willing to be coached. Maybe the league is ok with her scoring 30pts a night and the team losing to get ratings. But if we’re talking winning basketball games the coach is spot on. Worse thing Clark needs right now is a yes man as a coach

I didn’t hear anything the coach said that was wrong, other than giving all the other teams a basic scouting report lol. She didn’t criticize or disrespect Caitlyn, but instead gave her some pointers on how to adjust to what the defense is giving her. Obviously defenders are going to run her off the 3 point line and force her left (as we saw in the South Carolina game) so she has to learn to take what the defense gives her and make adjustments. Also she turns the ball over at an alarmingly high rate (another issue from college no one wants to talk about). A coach should be able to give a player constructive criticism or advice without the fear of losing their job. As talented as Caitlyn is, she still has room for improvement, and NO player is beyond reproach to the point you can’t even coach them, no matter how many buts they put in the seats. I don’t think it’s fair to call for the coach to be fired for speaking the truth, regardless of all the hype around the situation. Just my 2 cents!

  • @arthurbacon1964
    @arthurbacon1964Сағат бұрын

Not only that, if she can fine tune her midrange game (which will be more available to her based off the defense) she has the potential to be even more deadly than she already is. It would be hindering her to expect her to go out and repeat verbatim what she did at Iowa, considering there’s more competition, and she’s not necessarily the best player on her team at the moment. She will get there eventually , but let’s not call for the firing of a coach for being a coach. Someone has to be realistic in the moment.

One thing is, you can see AB behind the defender in the post, and literally just standing there, not trying to establish position. She almost looks disinterested. The only way this Fever team can maximize what they do have is play together, more off the ball movement, etc… JP

Coach just told Clark to just take what the opponent’s defense is giving them and not force things. Because of Clark’s well established 3point shooting, currently there’s a focus to not allow her to get off. Sharing the ball with open Teammates and or taking the easier 2 points will open up her 3/ long 3point game. Simple coaching that any good Coach would say, both openly and privately. 🙂

They got their hands on the most prolific 3-point shooter to come out of Women's College Bball, who has attracted millions of fans to the game because of it.... and they want to make her shoot long 2's, statistically the worst shot to go for... I'm glad she said it out loud in the conference because it exposes the non-sense of trying to change Caitlin's game. I'm sure the Fever management is not happy. It's like going out and getting a Supercomputer and then just using to play solitaire.

Coach said nothing wrong. Clark is a great player and a professional adult who can take feedback/ coaching/ constructive criticism, etc.. Clark will adjust and be fine. If you can’t coach a player (specifically a superstar player) then yes, you should be fired… but this Coach is doing her job. I think we all should let the Coach do her job and reserve comments until there is actually a large enough sample size to analyze. 🙂

  • @SuperOutCold

She’s just saying what people are afraid to say about a superstar. This is professional basketball let’s add something different. People are sick of individuals depending on the three take some twos some point are better then none. It’s incredible when you making them but not so much when you’re not. We all have seen what happens when she’s not hitting them shots (watch others compete for the championship from home) she’s not hating she just wants her to add something unexpected to her game. So she can become a champion!💪🏽

Suddenly a coach is teaching a player and the coach is villified. Caitlin Clark is not as good as people think. College opponents are different from professional opponents. She will degelop into a great player, but in this league you are going to have to earn. So m ehow every one wants the coach fired as if Caitlin is so good and can't be criticized. You people need to wake up.

I like CC a great deal...but these comments and this take are absurd. Caitlin is a rookie professional ball player and like ever rookie before her - whether MJ or Candace Parker, she will need to expand and refine her game. She is the greatest 3-point shooter ever in the women's game...but if she wants to be an all-time great player, she will expand her arsenal. The Coach isn't saying to stop taking 3's, but if you're bypassing other open looks that could help your team win - that's something she needs to work on. There was nothing overly harsh that Coach said in public. And I am sure Clark wants to be coached/challenged and wants to be even greater.

Giving clark to much ego, a coach should be able to coach rather it be in practice or in a press conference, she said nothing wrong she is just saying she needs to trust her teammates more n take the shots she is givin, and by the l9ng 2 she is saying if she is open inside the 3 line she doesnt have to step back n try to force a 3 take whats open, wow her coach gave her some constructive criticism get over it we are creating a soft world and even dude talking bout it sounds soft as well clark is a grown up n she seems to have tough skin so lets stop making excuses for great players yes she is great but she can still work on certain things n if im not mistaken a coah is the one that should be able to say something rather it b in public or in private

The Fever Players are, or appear to be, Out Of Shape, especially Boston. They had a hard time keeping pace with CC up and down the court, even if an individual player "Hustled", CC would Glide past, easily. CC was "Looking" to pass the ball, but when the other players got the ball, they looked everywhere but at Caitlin. Bottom line, The Fever got Outplayed, by a Better Team(Better that night anyway). They have a whole lot of work to do, and Knock It Off With The "Coming to the game dressed like they are there to Clean The Toilets, not play Elite Level Basketball. You are "Supposed" to be Professionals. Act and Dress Like Pros. I'm paying Good Money to see y'all play, but not like that First Game Of The Season.

To add to what you're saying, I'm not a WNBA person, but I pay attention. I was looking in the sports section the other day, and they said the WNBA TV numbers were higher than the NHL playoff game. That is supposed to be significant. CC, Catlin Clark, the biggest thing to hit the WNBA, got the endorsement, the attention, and people genuinely like her. Now, that coach's mistake is you don’t change her, you change that team! CC is the money maker. If that coach break CC, and people lose money, the WNBA will be done. CC and Angela Reese are pushing the WNBA up ever so slightly. Now what the coach said. Just like any other hard headed stubborn coach that thinks, it's my way or the highway, shows how much she knows the game. She's inflexible, weak at strategy, and she is locked in to her pattern of coaching. In other words, she's been given a round peg and she's determined to bang it into that square hole. Now the team may not like it but that is OK, if they cannot fit in CC's pattern of play they got to go and get players she can win with, agreed? CC is the star. My first thought without knowing what was said, this coach jealous. I’ve seen hundreds of photos of CC and her face, and the yesterday, I saw a live shot of herplaying that includd her face and it told me something was wrong with her. I had no idea. I see your video, yep, that's coach breaking her game. I saw her salary, she making $78Gs!! Wha? Yep, highest player on the team, making like $212Gs. So, maybe it’s like you not going to bend the high paid players to work with the rookie. However I think I agree with what you say. They have to leave CC alone and let her find her game and not try and modify it. It's like in football you get a star QB in and the scrub QB coach says his footwork all wrong and they set out to change his game. Gino Smith a good example of that. They change him from a running/scramble QB into a pocket passer and the whole metro area hated him it was terrible what they did to him changing his style. f they get a new coach, they just have to make sure the coach is not going to change CC's style of play. She'll get better. Good example on what's happening. Pistol Pete Maravich. He came in best player in the country made big money, brothers decided he wasn't all that and they didn’t play with him on the court. Pistol Pete started dishing them wild passes and was making dudes look good, after all that, everybody fell in line behind him, and then he was able to do his thing, and the brothers looked good too. I think CC is similar. You have to let her find game and not change what she doing, for the team, the team has to change, she is the superstar moneymaker. This coach won't just be breaking CC, she'll be breaking the whole shebang!
