    For a go rifle my 11.5 checks all the boxes cause I shouldn’t be actively engaging anything out to long range cause that’s a waste of ammo and that’s a finite resource and it doesn’t hinder at all in close quarters but still is plenty viable to anything you will see yet lightweights cause you will be doing lot of walking

    I have a 13.7 pin and weld build that was originally an 11 5. It has a Burris 332 prism scope and I have to say I wish I had started out with a 13.7 when I got into ar's. Its a carbine length gas system that I chose because it was just simple barrel swap from the 11.5. I love it!

    Personally, I'm not big on shotguns. But unfortunately, I live in Illinois, a state with extremely restrictive gun laws. Semi auto long guns are heavily restricted here, with the most useful rifles like ARs and (my preference) AKs being outright banned. Manual operation weapons like bolt, lever and pump actions aren't restricted, so I went with a Mossberg Maverick 88.

    A Texan and your a sooner fan, what a communist!😂 Great video and one that makes a lot of sense, especially since I live in Texas. My SHTF calibers are 5.56, 300 BO, .308 Win, 9mm, 12 ga and 22lr, although I have a smattering of other calibers. The 300 BO is one most will scoff at, but I have it mainly for the very reason you mentioned it, sometimes I want to be discreet! While I have an abundant amount of commercially loaded ammo, I reload and have even more components on hand to reload what I need as I need using components that are usually interchange and not just caliber specific in the interest of versatility. Because I reload, I chose calibers that are very common, very efficient and economical to reload for.

  • @raywells2858
    @raywells285814 күн бұрын

    Since I reload 5.56 and .308 Win, a couple of calibers I do like that are odd balls are the 6x45 based off the 5.56 case and the .338 Federal thats based off the .308 Win cases. The 6x45 hits a lot harder than the 5.56 at reasonable ranges and fits in the AR platform with just a barrel change at a super economical price point. The .338 Federal is just a necked up .308 case and is quite the thumper out to 300 yards, requires just a barrel and bullet change, gives reasonably close .338 Win Mag performance in a compact economical package that fits any .308 chambered platform with a lot less recoil. Two of my favorite odd balls...

    🇦🇺😎👍Self defence with a firearm is illegal down here. A mate disturbed a burglar late one night. After a scuffle the police came , arrested the burglar , took him away only to return to my mates house to confiscate his firearms , ammunition and his gun licence as he got a counter charge for using excessive force. They had a fist fight 🙄… Gun shop employees aren’t allowed to use firearms for self defence either…I guess that’s why they call Australia the lucky country….bullshit ! 🤣

    Ive actually had good results with mine, cleaned it up right out the box ans after first range day cleaned the pistons again(i used hoppes #9 the first time and it gunked up the pistons used brake clean the second to get all the gunk out) in so far 300 rounds(mostly cheap whinchester target and field 1200 fps) no issue cycleing at all. Thag first range day(where the pistons got gunked up) i shoot 100 rounds of cheap spicy turkish buck through it. So far happy with the purchase i dont trust my life on it in home defense i perfer a pump as im in charge od cycleing it but as a range toy its fantastic

    Another pro for the sks is that it is permissible in almost all jurisdictions (in the US). The weight of it is also countered by the fact that you don't have to carry bulky magazines for it. With stripper clips, you're essentially just carrying the weight of the ammunition itself. Also, I work at a gun range, and the amount of times I've seen people leave their magazines is astounding. And that's in a low stress situation. The biggest pro of the sks though is honestly just the vibe. It makes me feel like a guerrilla fighter and that's the most important part.

    Sorry, must disagree.. the original term "Dissipator" was created by the original Quality Parts/Bushmaster, using a shaved fsb & carbine gas and second fsb pinned at rifle location for reliability. Later companies used mid. Any modern 16 using rifle length gas is merely a functional version of the failure prone 15" Colt 605. Looks like a dissipator, but ain't.

  • @NavySooner

    Boomer Sooner BTW(I'm an OU grad). Ya dont have to load the sks through stripper clips. I just open the bottom swing out mag and drop the rounds in. I have both an AK and SKS, however, if SHT I'm reaching for my AK. Also for making the stripper clips easier to load, just squirt a little WD40 and it's amazing how easy it is. Yeah I've got two commie rifles and.......I love them both. The snap on bayonet also makes me like my sks. I swear I can snap it on in a nanosecond.

    It's a great SHTF carbine. Is it the very best? No that's probably the AR-15 carbine in states that don't ban it... Really, the SKS doesn't really give up that much to the more modern stuff - not as much as some would lead you to believe. Optics are tricky if you need them - but there are mounts that replace the rear sight leaf - and allow the mounting of a red dot or long eye relief scope.

    I think my only gripe with it compared to something like the Midwest FF FSP rail is the fact that it’s 3 separate pieces. I’m real curious as to how that is gonna hold up in the long run. The price is phenomenal on this.

  • @NavySooner
    @NavySoonerАй бұрын

    If you want it to extend passed the fab it has to be 3 pieces. They make a two one that’s actually more stable than the MI one. Uses 4 screws after it’s been clamped onto the gun.
