5.56/308/12ga/9mm. In a SHTF situation, ammo availability will matter. National Guard Armory's are full of all 4.

"Life expectancy of zero"...exactly. Those with great imaginations that never been shot at have no idea how easy it is to get f'd up! Hunting for food? Yeah, neighborhood pets is what people will be eating. Appreciate your common sense and experienced-based approach. Thank you.

True that! Getting on a two way range sucks I dont care how talented you may be! After the first few weeks of tough times I dont think there will be much game out there to hunt, there will be a lot of very desperate folks out there in the woods hunting though! Like a friend in the Philippines once told me after dinner in the provinces, "n the Philippines, meat is meat!", and unbeknown to me we just had dog for dinner! Scooby Doo and Garfield will be on the menu!

Navy, let me explain the .410 shotgun shell pistol. No, they don't make you cool. But they do provide a smooth bore (non-balistic signature) capability that can be carried in a pocket. This is ideal for a world where the rule of law is failing but is still a concern. The fact that they don't leave shells on the ground is a plus. These firearms shine in a non-conventional warfare environment that has yet to reach the full warfare threshold. Think WW2, OSS, and most major cities will likely be behind enemy lines and occupied. Hope this makes more sense. Phil

They are dumb. Your name is Phil? The way you are talking I’d have thought it was Elmer. It’s ok you try and justify your bad choices and purchases all you want.

A Texan and your a sooner fan, what a communist!😂 Great video and one that makes a lot of sense, especially since I live in Texas. My SHTF calibers are 5.56, 300 BO, .308 Win, 9mm, 12 ga and 22lr, although I have a smattering of other calibers. The 300 BO is one most will scoff at, but I have it mainly for the very reason you mentioned it, sometimes I want to be discreet! While I have an abundant amount of commercially loaded ammo, I reload and have even more components on hand to reload what I need as I need using components that are usually interchange and not just caliber specific in the interest of versatility. Because I reload, I chose calibers that are very common, very efficient and economical to reload for.

Since I reload 5.56 and .308 Win, a couple of calibers I do like that are odd balls are the 6x45 based off the 5.56 case and the .338 Federal thats based off the .308 Win cases. The 6x45 hits a lot harder than the 5.56 at reasonable ranges and fits in the AR platform with just a barrel change at a super economical price point. The .338 Federal is just a necked up .308 case and is quite the thumper out to 300 yards, requires just a barrel and bullet change, gives reasonably close .338 Win Mag performance in a compact economical package that fits any .308 chambered platform with a lot less recoil. Two of my favorite odd balls...

I’m in total agreement with you. I was born in Oklahoma and graduated from OU. Spent most of my life in DFW growing up. Was stationed in Texas for 9 of the 14 yrs I was in the Navy. Currently reside in the Waco area.

The answer to the question to how much is all of it. Reality is you're talking about tens of thousands of rounds to be sitting on. Personally i think that if SHTF really happens, there will be plenty of shit laying around especially at the onset. But you can only survive with it as long as you can stay obscure from the warlords that will end up surfacing, just facts of the matter, you cannot survive it all on you own. Just sheer numbers game and individually we are screwed. Soend more time and energy building upon your community. Go take medical courses. Better to know how to pulg and fix a wound than make them. Personally im sitting on a few thousand of each 223&9mm, and around 750 12 gauge, 250 rounds 300 win mag, all thats needed to survive. Maybe need more 12 gauge but I see larger issues than how much ammo i have.
