I've had my hd screen for most of a year now and the use case you may have missed is remote play. My deck is great for playing games with lots of dialogue text, remotely playing demanding games that it has no business running, and remote playing my ps5 through chiaki is absolutely worth the effort for me. 😊

I posted on your last video that my steam deck was bricked after the update, I had to reimaged the deck, but everything’s working again. I only play cloud gaming on it. It works great.

I'm not sure how it happened, but I used non steam launchers from their github and it ruined all my non steam shortcuts. I couldn't add non steam apps anymore, not even through emudeck's rom manager. After hours of tinkering I managed to get them back by switching to the preview branch. Not risking my shortcuts again

SteamOS invalidates every other handheld. I don't care at ALL about performance. They're all a downgrade from a gaming pc. But Windows on a handheld sounds hellish and I will never consider a handheld running it.

I was only able to enjoy Forza 5 when I overclocked . Mostly medium settings and 45fps but it’ll stilll dip in very specific parts of the map

its not just the power of the console its the different wat valve treats its customers. i hear stories all the time of people sending in steam decks like a day after warranty when it breaks ready to pay for a repaired or replacement and valve just gives them a new one. the night and day difference in approaches valve and ASUS have to supporting their customers and hardware really pushed more towards buying the steam deck. also valve has done so much for the linux gaming community through proton and they are one of the best reasons to switch to pc. over all if you so your research you will find its not only the raw specs that should be accounted for when deciding between the two. (also as a linux user windows sucks)

I avoided the ROG Ally mostly because of the Micro SD issues. Now I'm avoiding it because of the recent issues that has come to light about Asus's customer service and warranty issues. (Stealth Edit: Also, the lack of a track pad, which has been extremely helpful when navigating the Steam Deck, especially in Desktop Mode). Just ordered a OLED Steam Deck. The OLED Switch screen is amazing, so can't wait to see the OLED SD screen once it arrives.

Nah the deck is a much better purchase, what store will you be buying from? The only way I would have got the ROG is if I was still a real PC gamer, now days I have so little time I’m more than happy with an LCD Deck. It even plays literally every game I wanted to play, even to this day games I want o play that recently released it can handle. The ROG is decent but it’s trash unless you want o do game pass. Then yeah get the ROG.

I have gotten to the point where I watch Jimmy's videos just to give him thumbs down. I think he makes them to show off all the toys he owns. Get whatever SteamDeck you can afford and enjoy it. Upgrade when or if you can afford it and simply have fun.
