I just got oled deck and it’s been amazing.had ally and lcd deck but oled is really step up .playing now soul reaver 1 and borderlands and battery is just amazing.14 hours in emulator and 4:50 min borderlands

Can't forget Proton is a big player for Valve as it's their insurance to what Microsoft planing to do. BTW about games can't get anymore unless used or reselling games, just buying game still in line stealing from the dev when they are not getting any of them money.

You are not thinking straight. You bought the product. They made their money out of it. The product is yours. You have a right to sell it. That's what ownership is. Games are like any other products. Imagine having to pay the contractor everytime every house is sold second hand. Or phones, cars, second hand tvs, clothes... yeah makes no sense now right? Same as games. They make millions in profit. More money than music and movies combined. Games went digital but prices stayed the same. And now reselling is stealing... you're crazy dude

@@joaocardoso9031 the point is what is stealing? is it when the people don't buy the game or thing that dev or the companie sell you the product they get no money or we download or buy it from a used owner and still the dev or the companie still makes no money from the new owner. I know is crazy thinking, and should never be the case, but still thinking in my mind did I steal if I got it used and never got it from the original way even if I payed for it.

It feels like the next generation is going to be a hardware war and exclusives will begin to be a thing of the past.

I disagree. Xbox Series X is the better hardware but PS5 destroyed them this generation because of exclusives. Nintendo switch is top 3 best selling console of all time. All of this is because of exclusives.

I’ve actually got a prototype of the steam deck 2 and a developer build of half life 3 and I have to say running the steam deck 2 at 8k ultra settings at a locked 240hz fps and with 12 hours battery life the steam deck 2 is pretty decent

Yup, I'd imagine they've been wanting to break into the casual-gamer/homeconsole market audience for a while now. I think back to the SteamMachine in 2015. Similar goal, alongside wanting linux based pc gaming to be the standard, but the move into handheld pcs is definitely more appealing.

question, my steamdeck went black no image on the screen, buttons not working, trackpad not working , i can get image while docked and im able to use kb and mouse i just reimaged and still have the same issue, any ideas ?

I had this last month after the battery drained to zero. Had to be sent in for repair. Repair paperwork said mother board was replaced. My deck was 5 months out of warranty. Valve stated 180 bucks to repair, but surprisingly they repaired it and sent it back free of charge. Just over two weeks for it to be sent off and returned.

You Forget.. The Primary Reasons Why Valve Did The Steam Deck, Was To Get An Alternative Gaming Operating System For Gaming And Desktop Usage Wise.. Thus The Steam Machines And Their Steam Controllers.. However, They Were Incredible But Failed At Execution.. But They Admit.. Nintendo Solified Their Ideologies And Knew Linux Was The Laugh For PC Gaming For Awhile..But.. They Stuck To It Bc Of The Massive Support They Had From The Linux Community.. And Thus Proton.. And Boom, They Had Their Ideas For The SteamOS.. Which Does Both Linux And Windows Runtimes.. They All Admit They Love The Switch.. And Thank Nintendo Switch For Their Perfection At The Portability Aspects Into Their New Device.. The Steam Deck. Now That's Innovation At Its Finest.. Now Devs Like Bungie Fear Steam Deck.. Negative. I enjoy both, but no. The latest Ratchet and clank is a no on Steam deck unless you kill the quality

3:25 why buy a second handheld gaming pc if you can either play all your games on the rog ally or just use windows on steam deck in a dual boot setup. I’ve done the dual boot setup and it’s fairly easy and works perfectly.

Will Helldivers 2 run the same on base Steam Deck or only on the Oled?

The OLED isn’t a huge jump in performance. You may see a slight FPS difference but that’s about it as far as what games play on it. If it runs on the OLED, it will run pretty much the same on LCD.

I don’t think Valve will be interesting in making a screen case. The primary function is for DS games and I don’t think Valve wants to openly endorse emulation like that to maintain good relationship with Nintendo. But 3rd parties could definitely make it since they don’t care about being in good terms with Nintendo and they can operate on smaller scale since this won’t be as popular an addon as a dock is (which Valve has made their own).

My helldivers runs at 50fps fine im on the original steam deck 64gb that i upgraded the ssd to a 1gb then they brought out the new verions 😂

The fact that I can play all Nintendo Switch games on Steam Deck is insane, not to mention other emulators too! Most of my Steam library works great as well.

It's honestly interesting. The decks price point is really accessible, I can't think of a cheaper laptop or desktop that can do the same thing and is so seamless. And I think the deck was crucial as a proof of concept for handheld pc gaming. The oled release was astonishing, both in that you could get one aka they sort of beat the scalpers, and that it was better and cheaper and more sensible than their previous models. A perfect release really, and cheering on the competition is not only a good look but really savvy

I mean steam, and especially steam fanbois, do annoy the fuck out of me but the deck is pretty open. It basically comes with a slightly hidden jailbreak, and its not hard to install other storefronts and lord knows what else. I'm sure valve sucks but this is a million times better than what most of the other overlords are up to.

Steam deck a great machine it just wasn't for me. I loved its feel and thumbstick positions. Got an aya 2 and preferred it by a lot. Had oled too. Had a lot of handhelds. Steam deck my least favourite but good machine, favourite legion go. Power modes and oculink are top draw for me. Get more juice. Having said all this, im interested if I can ever get hold of a deck for about £150 for kids. About 200atm it's just my needs surpassed what deck offers. Entering into the it can be held in your hands over a handheld. New onexplayer and egpu are interesting. 10.9 screen, makes go look small. That would replace my surface book, quite dated now but screen very nice

Crunching linux into the PC game market is bold effort. Like you pointed out steam has the cash flow to do it. My impression from the start was that valve was using its market position to gradually lever windows out of the market and im not ready to say im wrong. If you look at what Microsoft is doing these days I think they're jealous of valve. Its always the same story. When your management effort goes into wrangling bureaucratic mega corp your insight and inspiration wind up on the toilet paper...

I get steam makes its money through games, skimming off the top, I still got my SD OLED here but I don’t have no use for it or at the very least don’t reach for it to play my games since I got the ROG Ally, I can play all my games from Steam, Epic, Xbox, Ubisoft and so on at higher frames and 1080p, plus I know my way around Windows which helps when it comes to desktop mode, I hope the SD2 comes out way above the competition with hardware next time and then I’ll be back to the SD, love the content keep it up.

Deck is good, but not great. Still, better than the competition.

Not too sure on that one when it comes to the Ally and Go, play all games not just a limited amount of steam games only at a lower frame rate and resolution, think you need to check out the other devices before you make that decision.

⁠@@vex8667windows compatibility isn’t perfect as newer windows versions do eventually break games. But can run latest games without problems as they are made for it and likely proton not in mind like newer EA updates with anti cheat. I can still run my 90’s and 2000’s games on deck without issues compared to windows 11. You can install windows on the deck. you can play more than just steam games on the deck, you can use proton on heroic launcher which allows epic games, gog, Amazon games. Ally and go are good options but I do feel that it doesn’t work as well for pc games as the deck because of the trackpads. Going to sleep is pretty good on steamOS and I probably would install it on a legion go/ rog ally imo. It has been compared that using chimeraOS (pretty much is steamOS, holoiso no longer works) vs windows on these devices have shown better performance for a good ammount of games. It really depends what you play.

Well the Steamdeck can do what the PSPortal can do. You just install a launcher and Play XBOX games from your XBOX wherever you have a network connection. Without internet you just play everything you have downloaded. That’s something the PSPortal lacks. And the Steamdecks UI is just great and works! For me it’s: 1. Steamdeck 2. my modded GBA 3. Gaming Laptop 4. Xbox 5. PS5 And maybe then I’ll consider the PSPortal, but this thing is just so obsolete tbh. And to be fair, Sony is now releasing almost all games to PC as well. There is no need for a console anymore Xbox or PS, get a PC and you have all libraries and the game pass.

I wish you could give a in depth description of difference between valve and steam, because me as a Video Game console user have no idea what is the difference I wish you could do that one day…Xbox guy 🫡🤟🏾

in short, Valve is the company. Steam is their product. Steam doubles as both the most popular storefront for PC games, and a PC game launcher. the Steam Deck is a handheld PC that runs a Linux variant that supports gaming VERY well and makes the experience very "console-like" and noob-friendly.

@@Iceburgslim_ Exactly. Docking it is basically just plugging it up to a TV or monitor via a dock, sort of like you would with a Switch. A dock is basically just a USB hub that plugs to the Steam Deck via usb-c and has usb ports (and hdmi) on the back. They're sold separately. Valve sells an official one but its pricy & unnecessary and they couldnt care less if you get theirs or a third party's. You're in the ballpark. It is kind of like a Microsoft-Xbox thing, except its Valve-Steam Deck. the Steam program itself is a program anyone can download onto almost any computer to access their Steam library and play their games. Steam itself is a PC-only program so you wouldnt necessarily download it onto other platforms because the online storefronts for the other platforms are competitors. wouldnt make sense. you might be confusing other platforms with other handheld pc devices. those arent necessarily other platforms because they're technically still pc's, its just that those devices are made by other manufacturers to offer gamers more options (size, form factor, performance, cost, etc). Valve doesnt really care that other handheld pc devices like the ROG ALLY rise in popularity because at the end of the day, valve makes most of their money selling games. so they sell the steam decks at a loss and recoup the costs via game sales. and the other handheld pcs having access to steam is good for them because most steam users have their large steam library to access. valve still gets to sell games regardless. its a win-win-win. i personally own a rog ally and a steam deck oled and love both but the oled honestly gets almost all the attention. im actually even playing on it on my tv right now :) just taking a small break to post this reply lol. feel free to ask more, happy to help.

Yes u can Dock it like the switch but u need to buy a Dock or have a monitor/tv with a type c connector then u can just use a USB type c to USB c cable
