    If you are not confident on a clutch, I would steer you away from this as a first bike. On commutes and heavy traffic, I have to reign it in the whole way. It is a heavy bike, which makes it smooth on the road, but it is also slightly top-heavy, which means if you get off balance stopped or a t slow speeds it wants to fall. I haven't dropped it yet, but it is my most difficult bike to push in and out of my crowded garage.

    Thx for the reply, how is the ownership now for you ? It been years since this video.. I’m really considering this as my first bike . I can ride it respectfully I know it’s powerful, I’m not interested in doing twisties etc at least no time soon , I just want to be able to hit the highway for travel work not to be speeding around so this is the only reason why I think I’ll be ok . If I were 20 again I would stay away. But I read that the RECTFIER has issues on 2008-2009 model . The owner said it was fixed on the recall and he installed another one recently. Have u had any issues ?

    Pros to mine I've noticed Great air flow Helmet gets lots of compliments Lots of features for the money Cons The visor makes it very difficult to ride with it open and the drop down visor directs wind directly into your eyes Difficult to mount a go pro Loud Side note I got into an accident with mine and it definitely saved my head. All four sides of the helmet were scrapped up and i got knocked out but all I had was a concussion. Also in terms of the visor does it get dirty easy and make you think it's damaged, yes. However it looks good as new when cleaned. Aslong as you keep the rst visors clean it looks very good.

    I found these good, but the clutch was very tiring on the hand after a while, the seat strange, not easy to maneuvure on because of the twin section and the accelerator is kind of jumpy. The 1200 doesn't seem to have those problems

    Sharp only tests a flat impact not a glancing blow as most are on a motorcycle accident. If you hit anything at speed flat you are going to be in trouble with pretty much any helmet. Icon now has the MIPSsystem and should still be a really good helmet. Trust the safety ratings of ece.

    I bought mine in 2008 & have done 3 vacations on it that averaged 11 days & 3,000 miles & even though I've had six bikes registered & on the road simultaneously including a 2001 GL1800 Gold Wing & a 2007 Triumph Rocket III Classic 2300cc, the Bandit has been the best compromise between long miles & excellent handling on routes like; Blueridge Parkway, Rt. 129 "Tail of the Dragon" & other premier routes. My other ride is the Triumph Bonneville Bobber 1200cc high torque parallel twin for my hot, sticky weather "hooligan" bike. At 72 I'm missing the other unique rides that I let go, but am satisfied with the two 1200's in the garage.

    I have a throttle rocker on my bike too, and I love it. I think you're using it wrong. All of the demonstrations I've seen show it located at the outside end of the throttle grip. That's where mine has always been. You hold it down with the heel of your palm.

  • @jaredcompton158
    @jaredcompton1582 жыл бұрын

    Yes, I know how it's used on the outside. I had it there, but with my shorty levers I use two fingers on the lever and keep my hand on the outside. When doing lots of commuting, it gets in the way out there so I move it to the inside instead of taking it off. On longer trips, I put it back on the outside. In one of my earlier video takes I said why it was on the inside, but guess I forgot to say it on the final take.

  • @jaredcompton158

    Top case is a Shad SH48. Side bags are Givi Silverbag soft bags. I don't have a side rack, they just strap across under the seat. I think that line of Givi are discontinued, but newer models have gone way down in price from the older times.

    There's a little mesh screen INSIDE the fuel pump assembly that can get clogged. You have to pull the pump out and use something like a length of frayed copper wire to remove the gunk. There's a stickied post on NSWbandits forum called 'fuel pump fix', hopefully that helps you out 👍

    Nice review.My big dilemma is TDM 900 or Bandit.I'm an older guy 6'1'' ,perhaps TDM has more space for my old legs (my XTZ 750 was fantastic in this sense)but Bandit is the "real" bike. I should try a higher seat. Drive safe.

    @jaredcompton1582 жыл бұрын

    Thank you for watching, and thanks for the comment. Though I have zero experience with the TDM, from the mere looks of it, I'd say it is the more comfortable of the two. If you were to want the 'real bike' and the comfort, maybe you could look for a reasonably priced FJR 1300. I want to get my hands on one of those for a review! Comfort, speed, and performance......

  • @endurofly
    @endurofly2 жыл бұрын

    @@jaredcompton158 Thank you for the reply.FJR is a real rocket,cost about 50% more but the biggest disadvantage is the weight,about 40 kg (90 lb ?)more then GSF.If you consider GSF an sport tourer then it is the most nimble one.When you hit the level of 300kg (600-700 lb) IMO the most accidents happen in the garage or in the parking lot and when you getting older it doesn't help much.. GL on the road to you and your old man.

    Thanks for the question! I am 6'2", an my dad lowered the front fork tubes and the back with lowering links. The seat height is pretty low for me but the seat to peg distance is not terrible. I have been commuting on it for the past two weeks, and it is not bad. Long trips, however, may require a few more stops the stretch. All that said, even as a tall guy, I love this bike.
