V-Strom 650 1 Year Review

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

Welcome back to my channel for this long-winded 1 1/2 year review of my 2005 Suzuki V-Strom DL650. There are no sponsors or sponsored products in this video--just my honest thoughts of my bike and mods.
Forgive me for the lackluster editing; I did the whole thing in 20-30 minutes because I just wanted to get some content posted.
Thanks to Dan on the Goldwing for a fun day of riding last summer. Finally getting around to uploading some good rides. I'll try to get more rolled out soon!

Bought the same color, 2007 model a week ago, I can't stop riding this thing, simply an excellent bike, I also own a SV650 naked, which has served me trouble free for tha last year.

I have a throttle rocker on my bike too, and I love it. I think you're using it wrong. All of the demonstrations I've seen show it located at the outside end of the throttle grip. That's where mine has always been. You hold it down with the heel of your palm.

Yes, I know how it's used on the outside. I had it there, but with my shorty levers I use two fingers on the lever and keep my hand on the outside. When doing lots of commuting, it gets in the way out there so I move it to the inside instead of taking it off. On longer trips, I put it back on the outside. In one of my earlier video takes I said why it was on the inside, but guess I forgot to say it on the final take.

Put a Givi airflow on it. Best screen for Vstrom. I drive the DL1000, and its amazing with Givi airflow.

Thank you for sharing your thoughts. I really want to get one. What are those textile bags?

I am thinking about taking off the grip puppies, too. With thicker gloves it does make things a little awkward.

My right hand has been fine, but my left thumb joint has been pretty sore cause of these.

@@jaredcompton158 Shame about the skid plate. That's the same brand that rf9 has. I suppose it is not something that is meant to remain nice.

Do those hand guards (@17:20+) get in your way? I notice you didn't have them on in the background ride.

I love my hand guards for blocking the wind in winter and cooler weather. They never get in the way, but in Texas summers I take them off for more cooling wind on the hands. The second ride at the end is my full summer set up with the stock windscreen and no hand guards.

What brand of side rack and bags are you using.

Top case is a Shad SH48. Side bags are Givi Silverbag soft bags. I don't have a side rack, they just strap across under the seat. I think that line of Givi are discontinued, but newer models have gone way down in price from the older times.
