Currently a channel where I show my hobby lockpicking / locksport videos. I try to make my videos instructional where possible rather than just straight picking videos. These videos are targeted towards those in the locksport hobby or are just interested in lockpicking in general. I am happy to answer some basic questions, but for more in depth tutorials or discussions on lockpicking, I suggest checking out the r/lockpicking Reddit sub.
I do not receive compensation for my videos and I am merely a hobby lockpicker, I share my experiences in these videos and have nothing to gain from anything I show other than sharing my knowledge.

The Wizard is at it again!
Fantastic picking of another awesome Kaba lock. Take care and enjoy the rest of your week.
Dang what a lock…
No way! He’s alive!
Who do you think has been approving all those Reddit belts??? :P
Congratz on the open and thanks for the gutting. Take care and have fun!
Thanks, you too!
Fantastic picking as always! Kaba 20 with 16 pins is the highest pin count lock I've picked so far. Thanks for sharing and take care.
Thanks! Once you get past a certain point, more pins is all the same :P
My o my what a lock. Good job.
@@mcdpoor thanks you!

It's an unusual lock, but still very interesting. Thanks for sharing and have a fantastic weekend.
for sure! Thanks for dropping by again!
Damn, what a weird lock.
Yeah, the plate and stuff on the front make it look kind of funny :)
Ayy, I just made a IG vid on this yesterday. They're neat little locks!
ahhh, yeah they are pretty neat...if only the gates were a little tighter, or perhaps even some shallow false gates
Cool lock! Fantastic picking as always and thanks for sharing.
Thanks for loyally stopping by, it's much appreciated!!!
What a cool lock 👍👍 Great picking and very clean gutting with pointing out all the pitfalls one can run into 👌 Thanks for sharing this!
Thanks, glad you found something useful!
Absolutely brilliant mate, I really enjoyed that very much indeed 👍 Cheers and all the best to you and yours 👍 🍻
Thank you! Cheers!
Wow this takes me back 40 years to high school. The Master locks looked exactly the same (though without the keyhole in back) but were easier to open -- in particular there was a technique for determining the 2nd number, and then checking all options for the 3rd. There was a special day early each year when some freshman would learn the technique and start showing his or her friends, "so then he did this, and then he did this, ..." at which point one could stride in, put a hand on the ringleader's shoulder, falsely declaim "HEY ASSHOLE THAT'S MY LOCKER!" and watch them scramble. Good times.
Haha yeah, I imagine with KZread these days, there's a lot more kids pranking around with these cheap combo locks. I can't even give my kids a real lock because their school dictates which lock they use (and the key on the back means the maintenance crew doesn't need to cut the locks off at the end of the year)
Splendid 👍✊️😎✌️🔓
Thanks!
Nice! Your videos are certainly a case of quality over quantity.
Thanks, appreciate that!
That's a lot of locks! Thanks for sharing and take care.
Was a good deal, already decoded all but 8 of them!
@@norlin76 Nice!
Nice technique, thanks for walking us through that 😊🙏
My pleasure, thanks for visiting!
What a nice box of puzzles 😊 Great methodical approach 👍 Thanks for revisiting this and sharing this technique 😊
Thanks for stopping by!
wow thats a lot of comb locks!
Heh heh, yes, and more than halfway through decoding them all already :)
@@norlin76 wow awesome good job!
Seems like a quick fix would be cut your plastic guides down to spec a file then you have a pretty good little cheap key cutter. Take the money you save on "cut by number" cutting system and apply to the Locktech decoder camera.
Oh for sure! Just have to modify them a little...been a while, thought I had mentioned that. These were tested as is off the printer though.
Well done! Great video and swift picking of this complicated lock. You made it look easy 💪
Thank you! I'm a bit rusty but spent a couple days picking some highsec locks before filming this to get back into the groove of things :)
Very nice walk though. Those old style trees look pretty cool. I'm currently working on a twin combi and I'm struggling to determine when my finger pins are set in the gate. Any advice?
Once a finger pin is set, it'll jiggle to spring tension, but feel like it has a hard stop at the top of the movement range...if you press to hard you can pop it out of the gate though. If you look for a binder and lift it but it never drops into a gate, you likely have the wrong rotation, so have to let off tension, try a different rotation and repeat.
Great picking. It’s great to see you again.
Thank you kindly!
Почему Вы замки всё время кверху ногами вскрываете? В двери же они установлены "лезвием" ключа вниз.
This is the direction they're installed in the United States, it's not "upside down", it's just not the direction that YOU are used to. I've already practiced picking locks in every orientation (upside-down, sideways, blindfolded, etc) so I already know I can do so. As such I tend to pick locks in the most comfortable orientation for me.
@@tilulenshpigel2023 Thank you, that's some good information! I get asked about "upside down" every now and then, people don't realize that the whole world doesn't all do things the same way.
Если кто не понял про "кверху ногами" - это была шутка)), конечно же я знаю что в разных странах замки ставят по-разному. Но всё равно, всем спасибо!
It's great to see you, hope you've been well. Fantastic picking as always and thanks for sharing.
All is well here, thanks for visiting!
Great✊️👍✌️😎
Thanks!
Thank you so much for your video 📹
You're quite welcome!
Heh I'm chuckling... "if it didn't have those holes you'd "just" drill those holes in there" Hehehe.
Everything is easy if you add the word "just"! :)
I had this happen on my 90a pro. After picking I turn the keyway with the tensioner the wrong way. I tried pushing all the key pins. Would work. I used a dremel and made a slot in the nut for a flat screwdriver. Unscrewed it then took the core out and took it apart and put it all back together. Works great. Lesson learned WHEN PICKING ,TURN THE KEYWAY BACK TO THE PROPER DIRECTION.
And in the direction that you came from :)
Awesome vid. Where can i purchase exact same music wire you are using in this vid? .078
Amazon has it if you search for "music wire 2mm", I usually buy the stuff from K&S Precision Metals
Very helpful video, especially for preventing me from trying to gut this beast and see how it works!
Takes a certain level of insanity to want to go ahead and gut high pin count locks :)
My Master 140 has 2 spring loaded latches, one at each shackle hole. They fit into notches in the shackle. With a hook pick, I am able to reach both latches through the keyhole, one at a time, and pull each one back. The problem is that I need both latches pulled back simultaneously before the lock will open. I might be able to hold them back using two hook picks, if I can fit two hook picks through the keyhole. However, I found a way to do it with one pick. I poke my hook pick deep into the keyhole and find a spring loaded part. If I am holding the lock with top of the keyway on top, when I lift it up with my hook pick, I am freeing the latch at the bottom. I push until it is free of the shackle. I pull the shackle out and keep pulling on it. This prevents the latch from falling back into the notch. Then I find the spring loaded latch that must be pushed down. When I push it down, the other latch is pulled out of the notch. With both latches free of the notches, the lock opens. The order in which the latches are pulled from the notches may be important, depending on lock tolerances. For learning, without pulling on the shackle, find both spring loaded latches first and practice moving them. If you can open the lock, practice moving the latch that is visible. With the lock open, the other latch doesn't move more than a small amount, so don't try to practice on it. It is easier to pull on the lock body with the lock locked to something. If the lock is loose, slip it over a hook that is securely held in place.
You're describing a bypass method. On the American Lock 1100, they added a little plate at the back to stop a similar bypass, but older ones don't have it. You can buy a specialty tool designed to bypass somewhat similar to how you described, it's basically a right angle hook that you stick down the keyway and turn to interact with the locking pawl directly.
@@norlin76 Agreed! This is a bypass method, not picking. However, it is a method of getting the lock open, which only works where the latches are accessible. Apparently, Master Lock's design engineers decided that the second latch would make it too difficult for this method to work, so they didn't do anything to keep tools from reaching the latches.
One of the best examples I’ve seen
Thanks! Hope it was helpful!
nice pick, I should sit down and pick mine too some day. Never picked a wafer lock before.
Thanks! Definitely worth picking, it's a bit tricky getting used to feeling each wafer if you're only used to pins, well worth adding another skill under your belt.
@@norlin76 does your Miwa DS give a tiny bit of rotation each time you set a Wafer?
@@wolfganggrojcig2528 the physics of it is that even if the wafers have perfectly flat edges, because it's in a round lock, you'll get the tiniest counter rotation
Really good stuff in this video!!!
Thanks! Hope you got a few helpful tips from it!
Just got one of these from Denmark. I haven't had the confidence to pick it yet. I thought these wafer locks required a special kind of pick.
Ahh, nothing special for the DS. If you're picking a U9/PR/UR/PS then you would probably need some flags that you normally use for dimple locks.
Mine arrived yesterday from New Jersey. Can't wait to give it a try.
Excellent! I find this one a bit gritty if I'm nitpicking, so may be a bit tricky if you're newer to picking!
Haven’t seen you for a while. Good to see you ❤

White belt can pick anything? Is it backwards in lockpicking?
What do you mean by "White belt can pick anything" Are you referring to it being a Master Lock (which is a brand, not the master of locks). lpubelts.com shows how we've ranked different locks, from White Belt being the easiest, to Black Belt being the most difficult.
I’m new to lockpicking, but when did the meaning of white belt go from beginner to master?
Where does it reference White Belt as "master"? Are you confusing it with the "Master Lock" brand?
Hey bro can u duplicate me a key, How do we get in contact
I'm not a locksmith, just a hobby lockpicker. You'd need to get in touch with Rein of Lockpickers United (LPU) and see if he's willing to make an STL.
Brilliant video, thanks very much. Always nice to see something new. Very well shown and explained.
Thanks so much for stopping by!
Nice job! The moving tab at the tip of the key is for key control, making it harder to copy the key. Replicating dimple holes on a blank key would not make the key open the lock as the pin matching the tab in original key would not lift up. Also I believe this tab makes picking harder : key impression won't work and special tools like rotor won't either.
Exactly, it's what we refer to as an interactive element and I explain it in greater detail at 0:19 It's been a while since I picked or looked at this lock, so can't remember why I commented it doesn't have an effect during picking. But if it doesn't affect picking, then you could just leave that area open on the key (ie, cut it entirely away) Thanks so much for stopping by!
@@norlin76 I guess if you cut away the space of this tab, the pushing pin that raises the tab will go up but raise nothing, so the "receiving" pin (the on raise by the tab) won't raise either and its driver pin will keep locking the shearline.
Nothing about counter rotation? I thought these had spool pins
8:10 I mention the spools, however while picking this particular lock, I did not encounter any spools. It can often be the case that these inexpensive locks aren't keyed up in an optimal manner, and even if they have a spool or two (the 140 doesn't always have spools), they may not even come into play (for example if they're paired with a longer key pin)
@@norlin76 I just picked this lock while watching your video. I did it upside down and it just worked for me
@@alanwilson3572 excellent! Always good to hear of another lock being picked :)
@@norlin76 now what I am having trouble with is my ABUS 83AL-IC/40. Thing is nightmare fuel
Not hating on this core I bought one and I'm having a heck of a time picking with more than 5 pins... the keyway is what kills me not the rest of it... it's such an odd shape I don't know how to attack the pins. Any advice would be amazing man?
Hrm, been a while since I messed with this lock. I'd say look up a few videos on "paracentric keyways" and note that I do not pick the lock from the bottom of the keyway. You can see how I'm basically a "step" up with the bottom of my pick, using the warding on the right ledge as my fulcrum.
@@norlin76 I was going to ask you that! On my lock that I just bought from them there is little to no warding there to use. Do you mean on the left? I really appreciate your help friend
@@norlin76 That warding is gone now it seems to the right is for the most part gone now mostly to increase pick resistance is my guess
Do you happen to have an stl file for that tensioner holder? Great picking.
Here, I have uploaded it for you, but it's something kind of specific to those tensioners that I own. I've included the OpenSCAD files so you can modify parameters to tensioners you may have. www.thingiverse.com/thing:6496880
