[L224] ASSA 600 Euro Cylinder Lock with gin spools - pick and gut

This lock has 6 chambers, the driver pins are all gin spools that catch in counter milling on every chamber of the plug. Picking it involves getting the gins into the counter milling which triggers a false set, then float picking each gin out of the counter milling.

Yes,a nice lock again, and a great demonstration with clear explaining as the picking proceeds. I will ask,as a left handed picker,it's not always as simply mirroring what I have seen demonstrated Because some type of (dimples for one) ,pins, milling, etc won't work. The best example is some DIMPLES need to be tensioner anti-clockwise While picking clockwise, but I will second the observation that you make it look easy A vid I no doubt that I will watch a couple of times, billbo.

Thanks for watching again. Left handed picking can be quite tricky (though I've only tried it a few times, and it's tricky for me for other obvious reasons), lot of times you can't mirror things due to the tension direction as you explain. I often pick dimples in an arbitrary direction, but soon realize that I should be picking spools against the direction of my tension.

@@norlin76 The bitting on your lock made me think of an ASSA 600 I have. I've compared the key from your vid to my key, and it looks like the only difference is pin 2 on yours is a little higher, maybe one cut. I have'nt picked or gutted mine, but the core plugs show signs of "Locksmith pinning". The key bow is the same, ASSA UK.

Very nice pick! One question: What kind of setup are you using for that piezo-mic? I wanted to add one to my videos, but I've heard that you need some kind of preamp...

Yes, if just for picking you can use a tiny pre-amp. In my particular case, I use a Zoom H7 recorder, it records my voice audio and the pickup audio on the vise. It's overkill for just KZread as far as channels go, so you could go with something like a Zoom P4 of H6 (the H1N might be tempting, but I've heard you can't record the built in mic at the same time as an external feed, so might want to avoid that one)
