[L234] Tokoz Tech 300 Lock - pick and gut

Have had this sitting in a box for a long time, decide to finally open it and go over my method for attacking an unknown lock. I had no prior knowledge of what was going on inside this lock and was in for a nice surprise when I gutted it!

Thanks for tuning in! Have the kaba 6 row sitting on my desk as a constant reminder, but haven't poked at it yet...

@@norlin76 I knew when I got that 6 row beauty in the mail I had exactly one evening to get it open before you or Jim got to it first. So, I went at it “whole hog”, as they say 😜.

Nice picking - these locks do have couple of surprises up their sleeves👍 Also the construction is a nice example of how a pin tumbler can be made differently. The chambers on the side are for passive pins - I assume to give the lock some mastering capability. And the half moon down there is probably a part of antidrill protection.

Thanks for the extra info. I couldn't see how the side chambers are for passive pins as I don't think I saw that they extended into the keyway (I'd have to take a closer look) which lead me to think that they might have a ball bearing between the key "pin" and driver "pin" that would act as construction bitting, that ball bearing would drop into that hole as a one time even when changing from construction keys to user keys. Just my thought process on it without additional info.

@chefgav1 heh yah, have picked a few locks that were in BBs naughty bucket and many that LPL never picked on his channel, mainly because they take more than a few seconds I assume

Oh wow, what a great video 👍 thanks for taking us on this entertaining trip 👍👍 well picked and gutted, even with soo many surprises 👌 I was wondering, is this lock front shimmable? It has no groove so i would guess so? Anyhow, very interesting 👏

Yeah, I figured it'd be front shimmable, but I was unable to insert the shim from either side. I did not try particularly hard though...
