    Thank you for your videos I recently became interested in birds in my area southern Indiana USA. I think it was due to my interest in photography of birds. This weekend I’m going to try my hand at bird boxes and bird feeders with sunflower hearts. Also funny enough most of the birds in my yard are the European starling which I have noticed on one of your videos.

  • @paultreviews
    @paultreviews3 күн бұрын

    I am sure the sunflower hearts will attract a nice variety of birds to your garden. You may have to be patient as birds take a little while to gain confidence, but once they do they will be regulars. Take care as to where you place your feeders - generally birds like vegetation close by as they will feel safe knowing there’s an escape route close by. Sorry about the European starling - bizarrely they’re getting less common in Britain now. Yes, I did a video on starlings on my other channel - they were great, and noisy, fun for 3 weeks as the adults fed their many chicks in my garden.

    Thank you - glad you found my video useful. There is a ‘Set Up’ slider towards the bottom right of the main panel. Left is for ‘Off’ Slider to the middle to change the settings. Then to activate the camera slide the slider to the right where it says ‘On’ It will then give a 5 second countdown. The camera is now activated and will start recording when it senses any movement. I hope that helps - let me know if you have any other questions.

    With mixed bird seed you’ll find the birds will select the seeds they prefer and discard the rest. It’s a good place to start though. If you can get some sunflower hearts you will find almost all birds will like them. Good luck with feeding the birds - you might need some patience as the birds take a bit of time to discover the food. Once they do, then they will come regularly and visiting you will be part of their routine. A bird bath also a great attracter. 👍

  • @paultreviews

    Thank you - glad you found my review helpful. I have had good results from all the cameras. If I am using a very small tripod to get the camera low - then I prefer the T180 or T300 cameras as they are smaller and I really like the compact size and the tripod socket at the back means I can get very low. If I want a bit better audio and daytime quality then I’d go for the TC22 as it has a dedicated daytime lens. If I want to leave the camera out for weeks, then the cameras with back up batteries such as T180 & T300 might be more suitable - and being smaller are easier to hide. As I have said in the videos - I like each of the solar cameras. It can be a difficult decision.

    Hi Paul, thks for the review, may I assume that you prefer the Campark TC22 over the T180 which was already very good ?)

  • @paultreviews
    @paultreviews15 күн бұрын

    Hi Lilly, you’re correct- I do like both of these cameras. I like the TC22 because of the twin lenses so has the edge in image quality but I also like the small size of the T180. I feel the T180 is more sensitive in recording ie it doesn’t miss anything and it does take back up batteries so might be better if you’re leaving it out in the wild for a long time.

  • @LillyMiss2

  • @paultreviews
    @paultreviews15 күн бұрын

    I actually take no notice of the trigger time - all the cameras are much slower than claimed. When I said ‘sensitive’ I meant that my T180 doesn’t miss much - a distant mouse for example.

    Has anyone found their T22 difficult to trigger the camera? Mine doesn't activate via PIR at all (a person could sneak right up to it without activating), and only seems to trigger off loud sounds.

  • @paultreviews
    @paultreviews17 күн бұрын

    I presume it has been working and therefore it’s nothing to do with the SD card? It certainly sounds as though the sensors aren’t working. But first of all make sure you have a good amount of internal battery power - I’m sure you’ve already checked but worth starting with the battery. Then try it with photos only. Check in the settings that the ‘monitoring period’ is ‘off’ if it’s on, it only works at certain times of the day. I didn’t actually know that the camera can be triggered with sound. To reset the whole camera find the little hole labelled ‘R’ which is next to the USB socket. Push the end of a paper clip into the hole which activates a reset. I think this should be done while the camera is in ‘set up’ mode. If none of those work then you should contact the manufacturer they have a technical department who will be able to advise further. In the settings there is the ‘technical support’ email. Good luck - I hope you get it sorted or replaced.

  • @paultreviews
    @paultreviews21 күн бұрын

    Hi Richard, I haven’t done a timed test - but I can tell you that the solar panel keeps the internal battery charged up really well if there’s direct sunlight but it also charges on overcast days. Of course it all depends on how many videos are taken each night using the LEDs. It might struggle if deep in the woods in the Summer with 100% leaf cover and lots of activity using the battery. I know that’s not the exact answer you were wanting but hopefully it has helped.

    With the TC22 (and also the TC07) the solar panel is angled down towards the front of the camera. That sounds great if you’re pointing the camera towards the south but not so good for other directions. Has anyone found this to be an issue ? I’m in the UK so I’m particularly interested in experiences there.

  • @paultreviews
    @paultreviews26 күн бұрын

    That’s a good question. On a tripod it would be better angled backwards but not when on a tree. I’m in the UK and find all these solar trail cameras work really well. I’ve had them in the woods for weeks and the solar panels have charged the battery well even though no direct sunshine has penetrated the trees. If you really want to have a camera with the solar panel facing the sun then maybe the TC21 would be an option.

  • @paultreviews

    This camera is a ‘low glow’ camera. No, it’s not possible to turn off the LEDs. It needs the LEDs to record night photo/video. If you don’t want them to come on then set the camera to not activate during hours of darkness. If you wish the camera to take nighttime photos/videos, but you don’t want the LEDs to be visible - then you need a ‘no glow’ camera. I have reviewed the TC21 which is ‘no glow’. Does the solar panel charge the AA batteries?

  • @paultreviews

    No, the solar panel only charges the fixed internal battery. If the internal battery runs down to very low - then the camera uses the AA batteries until the solar panel charges up the internal one to a point that it can take over supplying the power again.

    In this video I demonstrate in detail how to change the blade. However, after saying it's so important to always remove the battery before touching the blade, I actually changed the blade with the battery attached! Let my mistake reinforce the safety issue of always removing the battery before getting your hands anywhere near the working part of the device. My only excuse is that there's so much to think about with filming with two cameras and dealing with the audio levels - hopefully not distractions that you will have.

    Hello, The TC21 has the best audio I’ve ever heard - the TC22 the second best. The daytime quality is equal and fantastic. So the main difference is the TC21 is no glow and the TC22 low glow. That means the nighttime quality is significantly better on the TC22. I find the convenience of the solar panel arrangement more convenient with the TC22. I have done a video on the TC22 which might be worth checking over. Hope that helps.

No doubt partly due to the scarcity of eels in general but also the man-made changes in the water levels. It’s interesting what is happening at Hoylake. The still photos are nowhere close to the spec'd 46MP quoted here, 4-8MP is much more realistic. The trigger speed is over 1 second based on many observations of my dog running past it and some quantitative tests with a stop watch. Night sensitivity has been disappointing but I haven't precisely assessed it. Daytime sensitivity is good for anything from small birds at 3 ft to ducks at 40 ft. Otherwise the solar and wireless are great. Battery seldom gets below 80% at night even down to -10F without any AA batteries. I connect to it easily within 50 ft but would recommend about 10 ft for speed. $95 on sale is a fair price from Voopeak but $110 is more common.

  • @paultsworld
    @paultsworld2 күн бұрын

    @@TheCrazyunclemarty thank you for your informative post and trigger speed findings. As you say, the extremely high mp counts are interpolated - if the sensor is native 4K then I usually opt for 8mp for the stills. I have been happy with the night sensitivity but I do tend to place the camera quite close to where the animals will pass. I also have been very pleased with the solar panel and WiFi performance.

    Wonderful video. Your Robin is very tame, but i wonder if a change in diet takes time for the birds to adapt to ? Perhaps leaving the food out on a table would have enabled you to see how much your Robin really liked them ? Also, i used to feed my garden Robins a sort of pate bird food from a pet shop and this particular food came in a squared tub and squared feeder. Every garden bird loved it and i can remember a Robin hoping on a garden table next to me as he watched me open the packet, he was that eager😊. It goes off after the two minutes when placed outside? Does it just automatically start filming when it sensesmovement? Thanks!

  • @paultreviews
    @paultreviews3 ай бұрын

    Hi, the app I use for this camera is ‘Wildlife Cam’ There is a very small peg that you slide all the way one way to turn it off, slide to the middle to access the settings etc and slide all the way to the right to activate the camera - there will be a countdown and then the screen will go blank. It is now ready for the sensors to activate when anything passes in front of the camera. It will continue to do that until you switch it off or the battery runs out! Make sure you have charged the battery with the USB lead. It’s quite a big battery so once fully charged it holds that charge for a long time. I notice you say it goes off after two minutes when placed outside. So you mean it has recorded for two minutes and then reset itself ready for the next activation? That sounds right. Make sure you follow the settings as per my video so it will do want you want it to do ie video or photo and how long the video will continue for. I set it to only take video. Test it by turning on and leaving for a couple of minutes - then do a little dance in front of it - leave it a few minutes and do another dance. Then check the videos on replay on the camera. Note: you can do all that in your living room so no need to do any dancing in the garden if that’s not your thing 😀

    I just bought a new bird feeder, we had snow coming and I needed a place for our birds to eat, they came in masses not even fighting, I eventually set up a cam, they seemed like they were starving because we had snow and freezing rain and snow, freezing rain that repeated over and over so I think they could not get to their regular food it was frozen over

    Sounds as though you have provided a life saving source of food. I just don’t know how their little bodies can survive the cold nights.

    Obviously sorry you didn’t feel the need to watch the video before making your comment. While hemp is indeed a good food for birds; in my opinion and the opinion of the birds in my garden, nothing beats sunflower hearts as a food for the biggest variety of birds.

    Thank you for ordering through my link. I am not quite sure the connection but I’ve had contact from Voopeak with Campark’s company details so I think they are a part of CamPark. I’ve noticed some cameras have slightly varying menus. I hope your camera picks up some interesting footage for you.

    The bird is really tame. "My" siskins and chaffinches arrived just before Christmas, the current flock is over 50 birds strong. They are quite tame, too, or perhaps just used to my presence. The robins have finally disappeared, fortunately, as the temperature is about minus 10-15 Celsius. All the best, Paul!

    Lovely to hear from you Jolanta! I am fascinated by migration - do you know where your siskins and chaffinches have come from - Russia maybe? And what about those robins - I wonder if they come here (to England) for our balmy Winters? Wow -15! I was just complaining of the cold today as I braved the +3 C temperatures on the way to the gym. 😆 I have actually experienced -20c in Canada . I specifically went in early Winter to see what it feels like. My robin stays in the garden all year round - he’s been a daily companion for well over a year now…he knows a good thing when he sees it.

    @@paultreviews The siskins and chaffinches probably migrate from northern Russia (Siberia, to be precise), when it gets really cold there. Ours (we do have a lot of siskins and chaffinches in the summer too) probably fly westwards and southernwards, perhaps they even reach your southern shores. I have no idea where the robins have gone, they stayed too long, in my opinion. I think they should have flown earlier but they were fooled by the mild late autumn. You go to the gym - wow :-)

    I’ll do some research on robin migration to see if we get an influx. I doubt my gym workout is as strenuous as your many dance routines.

    thanks for the review I have seen some trail cams that have better sound, saw a new review of the newest TC06 have you reviewed that one yet, I heard the sound is superior in that one ? my solar trail camera disappeared so the no glow might be a good option depending on where I put a new trail cam once I buy it

  • @paultreviews
    @paultreviews4 ай бұрын

    Hi Joy, nice to hear from you but so sorry your trail camera disappeared - presumably stolen? I haven’t reviewed the TC06 as I prefer the cameras with solar panels, however I have heard very good things about the audio. I hadn’t realised it was a no glow camera. It has been out over a year now - or is there a new version? I personally prefer the ‘low glow’ cameras as the night quality is better but I can certainly understand you want a more ‘stealth’ camera now.

    Do you think it would be worth adding some mealworms in with the biscuits?

  • @paultreviews
    @paultreviews4 ай бұрын

    Thank you for bringing up the mealworm question. Hedgehogs love meal worms - however they are very bad for them and so shouldn’t be included in food for them. The same goes for sunflower seeds - and milk. All these are detrimental to their health. Of course they won’t die if they eat a couple of mealworms or sunflower hearts but these little creatures would literally ‘pig out’ on those foods if they had the chance. Cat food - both wet and dry is the way to go to keep these creatures healthy.

    @@paultreviews Thank you for your advice, I've recently moved into a new build home and I'm looking for ways to encourage wildlife into my garden including planting hedges, flowers and shrubs.

    That’s an exciting project to develop your garden. May I give one big piece of advice as you’ve mentioned a new build. I don’t know if you have houses/windows nearby or privacy issues? However either way - what takes time is creating your boundary privacy - small trees, large shrubs take time, so put a large amount of effort (and money) researching, visualising then planting with this in mind. The flower beds etc can actually be done and looking good in a matter of months. I have another channel which focusses on the plants and trees in the garden - if it may be of interest to you. Good luck. My gardening channel is Paul T’s World
