    thanks for the review I have seen some trail cams that have better sound, saw a new review of the newest TC06 have you reviewed that one yet, I heard the sound is superior in that one ? my solar trail camera disappeared so the no glow might be a good option depending on where I put a new trail cam once I buy it

    Hi Joy, nice to hear from you but so sorry your trail camera disappeared - presumably stolen? I haven’t reviewed the TC06 as I prefer the cameras with solar panels, however I have heard very good things about the audio. I hadn’t realised it was a no glow camera. It has been out over a year now - or is there a new version? I personally prefer the ‘low glow’ cameras as the night quality is better but I can certainly understand you want a more ‘stealth’ camera now.

    Thank you - glad you found my video useful. There is a ‘Set Up’ slider towards the bottom right of the main panel. Left is for ‘Off’ Slider to the middle to change the settings. Then to activate the camera slide the slider to the right where it says ‘On’ It will then give a 5 second countdown. The camera is now activated and will start recording when it senses any movement. I hope that helps - let me know if you have any other questions.

    Hi Richard, I haven’t done a timed test - but I can tell you that the solar panel keeps the internal battery charged up really well if there’s direct sunlight but it also charges on overcast days. Of course it all depends on how many videos are taken each night using the LEDs. It might struggle if deep in the woods in the Summer with 100% leaf cover and lots of activity using the battery. I know that’s not the exact answer you were wanting but hopefully it has helped.

    Hi Lilly, you’re correct- I do like both of these cameras. I like the TC22 because of the twin lenses so has the edge in image quality but I also like the small size of the T180. I feel the T180 is more sensitive in recording ie it doesn’t miss anything and it does take back up batteries so might be better if you’re leaving it out in the wild for a long time.

    I actually take no notice of the trigger time - all the cameras are much slower than claimed. When I said ‘sensitive’ I meant that my T180 doesn’t miss much - a distant mouse for example.

    Really nice night time pictures. I have various CanPark cameras and am testing them at the moment and comparing them to Browning and Bushnell for a KZread piece. In the No Glow cameras there is little to choose picture wise either in daylight or nighttime. Unfortunately though they are all very soft pictures due top the no glow. When it comes to the normal IR they tend to have a burnt out area always, so maybe I should also try this camera especially as I tend to do fairly close shots to the animals.

  • @paultreviews

    Hi Dave, I think a hybrid Campark Browning could be good! Yes, I agree - the daytime and nighttime quality is now really good - I do spend time trying to position to minimise the annoying central and foreground hotspot. I am trying to develop a technique for close ups - alternating between IR ‘auto’ and ‘low’ to see which works best and soon I’m going to try close up lenses. I have also started experimenting with post processing by vignetting in reverse! It’s only partially successful. Unfortunately post processing ‘no glow’ 850nm has not been very satisfactory so far - pity… as I thought that might be a solution. I am rewatching your evocative Jack Hargreaves series I first watched so many years ago. Thank you for making and keeping them alive and accessible. I look forward to your YT trail camera episode.

    @@paultreviews Hi Paul I would love to chat sometime about trail cameras as I feel they could and should be so much better than they are. I have tried to encourage CamPark to improve them but they are not very receptive. As for the hot spot I have wondered if putting some sort of filter would soften the light but so far have not got around to trying. If only Jacks Out of Town cameraman Stan was still alive I am sure we would have managed to improve them no end as in my early days at Southern TV I used to spend hours chatting to him about how he modified cameras to film some of the things jack wanted filmed.

    @@DaveKnowlesFilmmaker Hi Dave, yes would like to have a chat. I have always wondered why they don’t get them more suited to our needs. I was going to make a list for Campark but sounds as though it is fruitless. I actually wonder how much they’re mostly badged up generic cameras. I do like the Campark features and options that the Brownings don’t have. Someone has lent me a Browning and it’s like a Russian tank - well actually better than a Russian tank now we know more about them lol. But the options and shooting length etc is pretty abysmal - admittedly it’s a couple of years old. I wish I had more action in the garden over daylight hours - alas June is long gone now - but virtually all my recording is at night so the IR problems are prevalent. I did get some badger cubs at a woodland sett in June and they started to appear just before the cameras switched to IR.

    With the TC22 (and also the TC07) the solar panel is angled down towards the front of the camera. That sounds great if you’re pointing the camera towards the south but not so good for other directions. Has anyone found this to be an issue ? I’m in the UK so I’m particularly interested in experiences there.

  • @paultreviews

    @paultreviews

    Ай бұрын

    That’s a good question. On a tripod it would be better angled backwards but not when on a tree. I’m in the UK and find all these solar trail cameras work really well. I’ve had them in the woods for weeks and the solar panels have charged the battery well even though no direct sunshine has penetrated the trees. If you really want to have a camera with the solar panel facing the sun then maybe the TC21 would be an option.

    Sorry you’re having a problem. Are using the correct socket? There are two USB-C sockets - one at the base of each ‘half’ of the camera. The one under the screen and buttons is for connecting to a computer and the other at the base of the other ‘door’ is for charging. There is a cover over the charging socket. If you are using that socket and it doesn’t work - make sure you’re not using a too high power plug. Hope that helps.

    I have just re-read your first message. You say “after the 5,4,3,2,1 the camera goes off” That is the camera now primed to wait for movement and record videos or photos. Can you set it up - prime it with the 5,4,3,2,1 and leave it a few minutes. Then walk in front of it. Leave it a few minutes and wave your hand in front of it. Then turn it off. Then turn it to ‘set-up’ and to replay the videos and pictures. Are there any videos or pictures? (depending on which you’ve selected).

    OK, I think I see what you mean. Have a close look at the on/off button. It is a slider with three ‘modes’ ‘Off’ at one end and ‘On’ at the other end. Between these two there is the ‘settings’. So carefully slide from ‘off’ to the middle. (Not as far as ‘on’) It will then prompt you to set the language etc. So remember the ‘on’ is only for when you have the camera where you want it and you want to prime it for recording. Good luck - let me know what happens.

  • @paultreviews

    @paultreviews

    Ай бұрын

    I presume it has been working and therefore it’s nothing to do with the SD card? It certainly sounds as though the sensors aren’t working. But first of all make sure you have a good amount of internal battery power - I’m sure you’ve already checked but worth starting with the battery. Then try it with photos only. Check in the settings that the ‘monitoring period’ is ‘off’ if it’s on, it only works at certain times of the day. I didn’t actually know that the camera can be triggered with sound. To reset the whole camera find the little hole labelled ‘R’ which is next to the USB socket. Push the end of a paper clip into the hole which activates a reset. I think this should be done while the camera is in ‘set up’ mode. If none of those work then you should contact the manufacturer they have a technical department who will be able to advise further. In the settings there is the ‘technical support’ email. Good luck - I hope you get it sorted or replaced.

    Hi Paul, interesting review on this camera! I had a few questions. I plan on mounting this camera about 15 feet up on the tree on the left part of this video (kzread.info/dash/bejne/ia2clo-IqMKccsY.html). Would I be okay to leave the camera on color at night since there probably is ample street lighting? Our neighborhood has been frequented by people on bikes & skateboards usually between 1:00am-3:00am. I would like to do a time range setting of 12:00am-5:00am. Hopefully, I will be able to get some facial recognition with either the photos or videos that this camera takes. Looking forward to your response. Thanks in advance!

    You’d be ok setting it to colour at night. There might be enough ambient light for colour or it might be in black & white. You can set it to monitor between the hours you wish but it will still be motion activated and not continuous shooting. As you’ll be able to recharge the battery regularly I’d set the recording time to at least 2 mins or so - maybe more. I would set the camera to video only. 2K One thing to be aware of is there will be a red glow on the TC22 when activated that can be seen. If they’re wearing hoodies and the camera is pointing down (from 15feet) face recognition might not be easy. Would be worth a try though. Good luck

    Sorry for the late reply - I wasn't notified for some reason. Oh my goodness!!! I see why you need to get this sorted out. I would shoot only video - not photos. The chance of a photo being taken at the best moment is slim - you can always do a still grab from a video. Yes, those are the PIRs. I suppose you could cover them, but it's a twin lens camera. If the camera decides it's light enough then it will use the day camera and the PIRs won't be illuminated. If it senses it's too dark for the daylight then the night-time lens will be activated and the PIRs will come on. You could cover the PIRs but I don't know what would happen then. I wonder if a 'no glow' camera would suit you better (such as the TC21) there are no visible PIRs on the no glow cameras. The night time quality isn't quite so good but I think well good enough for your purposes. The TC21 is much more of a 'stealth' camera. This is the review I did on the TC21 kzread.info/dash/bejne/l2WW1qtvptiZg5s.html

    I am sorry to hear that. Are you able to buy trail cameras from other manufacturers? I would recommend the Ceyomur CY95. It’s one of my favourites. I think they sell it on Amazon. I reviewed it in my other channel. kzread.info/dash/bejne/Y2V3rLGeosndk6g.htmlsi=jd8l9ABrMtqA3n62
