Greeting Sword & Knife community, Joe here. This Channel doesn't include the creation of blades but rather the presentation and discussion of Bladecraft. I have been an enthusiast of swords & the creation of Steel weaponry from a young age. The beauty; artistic value; the historical representation; and the creation process of working with steel has always fascinated me. I was inspired by other youtubers to create my own channel and give my take on swords I have been able to acquire. As a disclosure I am in no means an expert in martial arts or swords/knives of any kind. I am just an admirer and study the art of the sword. I will try my best to give you the best interpretation/feelings of the swords & Knives I enclose as well as other peoples' views in this channel, but understand this is my sole opinion, as an enthusiast and a lover of all blades #bladeaddict

Your knowledge amazes me every time my brother.. much love and respect
Was about to buy my first sword from them until I saw this video. So for 400, if not from truekatana, where should I buy without sacrifice quality. Best bang for ur buck if u will
That is always a very difficult question to give a straight answer to...without needing to ask you 25 questions first....I can give you many many options, but without knowing what you want it for, wall hanger, actual use, it's hard to...one particular company I'm reviewing right now where the review will be out soon....in Romance of Men katana...for 350.00 EBI katana is great looking, well made and cuts well....or go to RVA katana. com speak to John and he will put you in a great first sword, tell him Joe from JS Bladecraft sent you, he sells many brands out of Virginia
Nice work joe,I've seen some people do this, you might be able to get a rubber cap, that claps around it to.
Thanks...the force of that mat pushing up out of the water is fierce, would have to grasp on pretty tightly
@JoeSteel1 there held on with an o ring clap,so yeah it would
Pretty smart operation you got going on there.
I call it desperately seeking a solution, after too many mistakes...let's see how this plays out Cap
@@JoeSteel1 wisdom through experience 🤙
why do you soak them? whats the reason i have a few im planning to cut soon do i need to do this?
Soaking the mats adds weight and resistance, making them feel more similar to cutting a person. A dry mat is lightweight and may fly away when cut, similar to an empty water bottle...if you need help with it let me know brother...also a dry mat can scratch up your sword pretty bad
@@JoeSteel1 oh OK gotcha thank you 👊
Adam Novath makes and sells those. That's effective and like my military surplus tank round tube, only being able to soak 3 at once helps to not cut them all in one session.
yes I remember that Crazy Army Missile Container you have going on...that thing is bad ass..Didn't know anyone sold these, guess it make sense.
Joe thanks for showing that I hope your doing ok buddy😊
Mr. Jersey Pete, how the hell are you...havent been on KZread much, alot of life crap going on. hope you are well
Great idea! It’s either this method or weighing them down in the bathtub. 😁
Oh Man no, these things smell like feet, I would never soak them in the house..LMAO
@@JoeSteel1 Good point lol
Very economical solution Joe, better than swimming around the tub with the rubber duckies for six hours with your mats, haha.
They would pollute your bathtub, they smell like ass when they are soaking...LOL
What about vacuum seal it
Not sure how or what you mean as they need to be in constant submerged water
Great idea Joe, thanks for sharing YAH bless brother !
Thanks for watching Michael God Bless
No nothing about this. However, I love the thought process... It's a great idea I feel like you can build on it or keep it the same love the versatility of it
That's the plan! just trying to make it better and add to the Video Idea,
Perfect Joe
Gaziie Amigo
Here for it
Many Thanks my brother!!!!
Ive just polished to 2000 grit. Everything is fantastic. At this point do I A. Polish with Mother's mag and then do the vinegar, followed by more mothers mag? Or B. Do the vinegar then mother's mag? Sorry if that makes no sense. Happy owner of a jkoo T10 thanks to you. I told Van too
I would say clean it off with Alcohol then do the vinegar acid etched treatment and then do mothers mag...then Alcohol again, repeat if needed...and many, many thanks to you!!!
@JoeSteel1 alright sounds great! Many many thanks, I got my whole family cutting jugs! From down jersey way, Joshua-
@opusjosh That's awesome, I Love it
You didnt just call a "magazine" a "clip" did ya??????? Clips HOLD the rounds in place, as you strip them into the magazine. Mag or magazine.
Oh.... the tragedy of it all....mag, clip...tomato- Toooomato...🤪🤪🤪😆😆😆
@@JoeSteel1 Good thing you guys are knives........that wouldnt last 30 seconds on the range !!!!!!!!! LOL
Please do a destruction test on these and the apoc katana line
To be Honest I don't currently do destruction demos, as I am not equipped for it, The most i do is push certain items harder than someone would normally use them...but maybe one day in the future I will
Do destruction test with them. I have them and would like to see them put to the absolute limit
I replied to this in another comment
Sheeeshh that was buttery
Oh and I do love butter...LOL
@@JoeSteel1 same 😂
Nop its Not the best Steel ......................USand Aaaaaaa. Pfuiiiiii
Yes, intelligent coment, good job🤪
great looking knife Brother joe..much love and Respect
Same to you my friend home this reply finds you well brother
That sheath is beastly, that knife is like a flounder 😂
He has a very distinct style, personally I love the individual artistic elements he brings, what you can't argue is the quality, fit n finish and usability of a well made knife
Nice knife Joe 🇺🇸 🇳🇿
Thank you, compadre
Is that one of the button lock ones?
yes 2 out of 3 are button locks except for Swaggs Wall Eye design.
That Blade shape is dope
Yeah really liking this batch
Love the look for sure. Enjoy the weekend Joe
Same to you my friend Thanks
Still a great looking blade! Hope you’re enjoying your vacation 😁
😆😆no vacation, I'm working
@@JoeSteel1 oh I thought I saw palm trees, and NY has a serious palm tree shortage lol
@Kratos_God_of_50_BMG hahah...they seasonally plant them
@@JoeSteel1 Well hot damn you learn something new everyday. Thanks for the video Joe 😁👍🏽
The San Mai intrigues me 😊
Love that folded steel pattern....its suppose to make the edge harder and more retention and make the core softer for bendability from impacts
Thank you for the review. I noticed that you and your son do not need hearing protection. I have been attacked by dogs while on my horse. I am apprehensive about carrying a firearm on the while I am on my horse because I don't want to damage the horses hearing. This system seems like it would work as a self and horse defense against dogs without damaging the hearing of my horse. What do you think? GREAT VIDEO
Oh yes absolutely think that would do the trick, it's a simple click with some reverb that's all...thanks for watching dude
Got me a couple of these! Awesome blades!
I can stand behind those all day. I think they should make a more robust shinogi or shobu zukuri Katana, wakizashi, and tanto for harder targets or post apocalypse scenario.
If you look at their maker's synopsis of the line, it is not the intention to make an indestructible post apoc tool. it's more of what they feel a "modern Samurai" would choose to use with the materials that are available today...Less maintenance, unibody strong construction that still embodies the traditional elements....but yes a TH blade in Shinogi would be an idea though
Thanks for reminding me. Gotta bust mine out one of these days.
👍👍👍
I’ve never had a blade with RPM9. How’s the sharpenability, edge retention, toughness…..etc?
It's got good toughness, haven't chipped from hard testing yet...has the ability to take a very keen edge...Edge retention not as good as more expensive steels, but definitely holds its own and it's an inexpensive option to keep price down...easy to sharpen, I like the steel for the price.
@@JoeSteel1 I’ve seen it show up on a few different sites but never tried it. This knife does look pretty B.A!
Dude, it's called the fin bow... well idk
it's the BowFin my dude
I've found their D2 to be far superior to the AC-RMP9. I wanna see a button lock from the in D2.
D2 when done well is a fantastic steel, but the powdered material steel holds its own, haven't had an issue thus far with it
@JoeSteel1 the Barra lost its edge quick, this other one did as well, but new one seems to be holding. The d2 slip joint is still sharp to my satisfaction from out of the box.
I'm a fan.. honestly like that quite a bit
Really digging how this feels in the hand
Super Dope man!
👍👍👍👊👊👊
You don’t need to break them in I never did and Jared recommends you don’t either cause your wasting the life span of the stone
The stones need to be smoothed out and flattered when new as there are excess diamonds...and what Jared says is as you use it and it breaks in it will get have better performance with time, I'm also advising on the manufacturer guidelines...and use with use and "breaking in" my stones work much better and faster...peace out thanks for watching
Bro, thanks for the review. Thanks for showing the real cuts you made.
And thanks to you for watching, enjoying it and hopefully walking away with more knowledge of the steel
Man it looks like that required no effort at all! It made a very satisfying ‘smacking’ sound each hit 😎
This is a very light sword was very surprised how well it cut Tatami
@@JoeSteel1 Sometimes it’s those smaller, thinner blades that Lightsaber their way through tatami, while some of the bigger heavier blades (with kind of the wrong edge geometry) which you think would have the advantage, end up getting snagged up in the roll.
That first cut was awesome!, great job!
Grazie Amigo
the 2nd one was cleaner
Nice cuts joe, next time when the tatami mat gets low,try lowering your body to it,it will help with the cut more.
Grazie, Gotta use them old knees...😆
It will...... KEEEEEEL
Yes Sir..indeed
Thousands of tatami mats go through this struggle every day. Your donation of just $29 a month, that's less than 98 cents a day, can help tatami mats all over the world ..... get sliced into pieces.
🙏well said, that will definitely keep my Tatami matts coming in...😆
Is this why he left impractical jokers
yeah that got old😆
Gato
Meow? What you talking about a cat for?
I'm very confused 🤔
@@JoeSteel1 you look like joe Gato from impractical jokers
@jasstree1641 Oh I see, didn't realize that was his last name, yes I've been told 😆
I prefer copper. But it does have a tendency to compress or otherwise deform after countless cuts. Even on my $1500 zsey, after 10,000 or so cuts, the habaki has a bit of a rattle now. But it looks exponentially better than the generic brass ones, and I don't mind a bit of rattle, so I wold pick copper. Plus it will patina over time, develop interesting patterns and colors, and then you can polish it and let it patina again. Never will the same way twice.
I appreciate copper if it's done well so much more
Copper
💯 for me as well
Nice. Thay first one was especially nice.
👍👍👍🙏🙏
