    @@amandaleighplans Thanks for the update. I just got into the FP hobby. Have been looking at FP collection from afar and finally jumped in to the hobby and made my first purchase a coupler of days ago. Kaweco Skyline Black. My next purchase will be Estie tortoise or Leonardo Momento Zero Blue Hawaii. Thank you 👍.

    Love this video.. I too live in Maryland and wondering where all the crafters are hiding. Been a teacher in Montgomery county for 26 years but live in Frederick. If you decide to start a crafting night once a month please share. . I would love to join a group like that. What a great experience. This the first time I’ve ever heard of Baum Kuchen just familiar with Travelers notebooks. Will definitely follow you on instagram.❤️

    I'm relieved that I'm not the only one who had issues with the Lamy safari. My first fountain pen were disposable Pilot varsity pens and those wrote better than my first "real" fountain pen which was a Lamy al star. I went through three extra fine nibs on that pen and eventually gave up on it. Very inconsistent, would tear up paper so easily, was not smooth either. Now, my current pens include a Platinum Century Celluloid 3776 which I use the most and two Nahvlur Voyager pens that I'm struggling to find decent nibs for. Yesterday I had ordered the every rose has its thorn after eyeing it for quite a whilst so I'm looking forward to that as well!

    17:51 you probably have to adjust the placement of the nib and feed. If it is off just a little you will have problems

    I just found this and your mention of having to train your book to stay open made me smile. I stitch my own sketchbooks and it’s really very easy to train a stitch-bound book to stay open (don’t do this with a perfect-bound glued only spine, you’ll ruin it). It only takes a couple minutes. About as long as it takes to read this, really. Go to the back, open to the last 10-15 pages, stretch the book open wide enough that the front and back covers nearly touch. Go ahead. Don’t be afraid. 😉 Then go to the front of the book and stretch open the first 10-15 pages, matching the same bend-back action as before. Then return to the back, open the next 10-15 pages…lather, rinse, repeat back and forth between front and back every 10-15 pages until you meet in the middle of the book. By the time you get done, the spine will be relaxed enough to stay flat without arguing at whatever page you have it opened to. And it will close right back up just as easily, but on your terms, not the stitched spine’s. Cheers.

    Hope this helps. To get the weeks to lay flat - and for ANY bound/glued book - condition the spine. As soon as you get it from front to back page by page put thumb centre spine (centre two pages), smooth gently up to top along join, down to bottom & back to centre again. Repeat front to back, page by page until you have done all pages. Then, do the same but going from back to front of the book page by page. This stops getting the 'split' that can happen on some spines.

    I just got one of these Jinhao 82 pens and I love it. I’ve always liked the look of Sailor pens, but I’m not a Sailor fan. I am not a fan of nibs with feedback because I prefer toothy paper. This Jinhao is adorable and it’s pretty smooth. Mine is in the ‘cream white’ color, but it’s actually a semi-transparent cream/ white/ yellow with a red tip on the cap. It reminds me of a dirty martini 🍸 😊

    Is there some animal crying in the back, or am I hearing things... I paused the video to see if there was a dog crying, because we have lots of neighbors who have dogs in our apartment building. But no, it seems to be coming from the video.

  • @amandaleighplans
    @amandaleighplans7 ай бұрын

    I live in an apartment too, so it’s possible! I don’t really hear it or remember that but it could have been faintly coming in from outside or another apartment. I do have a dog myself but he was likely sleeping during this video, and if he was whining it would be as loud/clear as my own voice since my apartment is very small lol

    Wow, you pay like 300 dollars and cannot attend any of the workshops you like? I really want to go to a conference someday, but that price keeps me off and hearing you cant even attend what you want... :( I don't want to be mean in any way, just saying it is pricy!! But, nice journalling! Thanks for sharing your experience!

    Trust me I get it! I had a moment before the conference when I was bummed that in only 10 minutes all the workshops were sold out and I was like, what exactly am I paying for? 😭 I mean it is more than just the workshops but that’s still a big part of it. So I understand what you’re saying! But, I had fun and it was a good time!! Thanks so much for watching! 💞
