  I am trying to locate the single eye hat band that used to be available independently. It is now only available on an El Dorado, which I already own. I'm tempting to locate one cuz I want to put it on my brand new Marlo. I've been told that it is no longer sold it independently, but I feel like that was a low level response. Please help. I'd like to have this nice band in place before I shoot a review video for the two hats I own.

  Please call our customer service team and see if there is something that can be worked out. The El Dorado's that have the band already on it, may be the last run we currently have and we won't be taking them apart.

  You didn't have to thin out the leather strip , one piece strap is always stronger and last longer ,two layers always deform and delaminate , otherwise good work.

  How do I get the sweat smell out. My $500 hat from Amican hat makers sits in the closet on a shelf because it stinks. I wear a cheaper $60 hat from another site because it doesn't hold on to smellsl. I'd rather wear my nice hat, but I don't know how to clean the inside, and I'm struggling to find videos on it.

  So how do I get the sweat smell out of it. The hat I bought from American hat makers is now a beautiful $500 peice of trash that sits on a shelf because I can't get the smell out.

  It's a falcon. I've been reluctant to wet it too much when cleaning it because I don't want to effect the look of it.

  @@sgconnhardcore I talked with dad and this is what he said....."Human sweat can be insidious with leather. Usually the oils just darken, the leather without creating a smell, but I’ve even seen it work like an acid and destroy the leather. Everyone’s chemistry is a bit different. The best solution I’ve found for this problem is a 50-50 mix of baby shampoo and water, saturating and washing with a soft cloth then rinsing with plain water on a similar soft cloth should get the smell out. The only issue is it will darken the leather. Well lathered saddle soap can also be a solution. It can also be used to condition the leather and smooth out the darkening effects of the soap over the entire hat."

  I wear my felt Stetson outdoors all day working, and it’s almost completely lost it’s crown folds. Going to give this a try. If the hat gets soaked with rain, do I need to do anything to keep it from losing its shape?

  You can use a stiffener spray if you'd like. I would start by following the video, letting your hat cool completely after you get the shape you desire and see how it goes.

  I've had several communications with them. I was finally put in touch with Cary from the Texas location today who finally made some phone calls and got back to me. As of today I have enough trim for two hats being sent to me for the final repair. Thank you to all who have assisted me in resurrecting my beloved El Dorado.

  I am trying to have a Voodoo Hatter El Dorado repaired. It needs the rear crown seam reglued and stitched and a new hat wire and trim. I have had this for almost 8 years, and have a strong attachment. I know it can be saved, please respond.

  @@AmericanHatMakers Well, the leath I'm using I cut from a Lazyboy that was going yo the trash. It is too light for the brim, but I think I can back it. If it works out okay I will order some of your sizing pads to get the fit right. If I hear of someone wanting a quality hat, I will send them your way.
