Love this, it’s so exciting!!! And I love the side by side map, have spent many hours exploring and researching on there just for fun😅 I only scratch around near the surface coz I go by myself and have to walk or get the train but I’ve found some really cool stuff and close to home in a big town, so anyone wanting to do this but can’t dig, you can still find things!

My old stomping ground. James Whale was born near by. Used to go into that graveyard on Halloweens when very young, was a bit different up there back then.

its sad to see the church, someone said it is being restored, it takes two people to run a church a vicar and a verger and maybe a few of the church goers. its a huge shame im not a church user, but i do like many appreciate the amazing buildings. I feel it will be re-purposed before long. very sad.

This was a straw rope works and still manufactured rope in the 1980's. I remember the house well as it was owned by the family. Such a shame to see what it has become now

It's great that low town is remembered,. My dad was brought up in Holly Hall, and back in the 40s, early 50s,when dad was a kid, Low Town was considered a rough dangerous place where even police were reluctant to go. Him and my uncle used to go fishing on the Fens Pool, and sometimes the local youths would shoot at them with air rifles. Dad had to take his own air rifle, to shoot back. The local gang shot my uncle in the knee at close range, and he had the pellet in his knee till the day he died at 83 years old

Hi BCHH, I just spotted your KZread piece on the Carl Bridgewater murder - a very good and interesting piece. My name is Simon Golding and I wrote the book, ‘Scapegoat for Murder: The Truth About the Killing of Carl Bridgewater’ (DB Publishing - JMD Media - June 2016), which the Channel 4 documentary was based on - ‘Interview with a Murderer’ - made by Monster Films for ITN Productions. I worked for 6 months on the documentary. Although Spencer claimed it was his book - it was my work and he did not receive a penny from it OR the documentary. I have an updated book coming out at the end of this year - which Spencer appears very concerned about. I have new evidence from my book and some new evidence which came forward from the documentary. I was also approached by a world-leading lie-detector test company based in the UK. They were happy to pay for all his expenses to test Bert Spencer - Spencer refused. If you want to have a chat or contact me via email/mobile - please let me know - I have emailed you. Kind regards Simon Golding

I really think the state of Dudley town centre is due to the indifference of the locals. They all flock to Merry Hell Centre but that’s now suffering due to Covid. Think the council has abandoned Dudley and now think of Stourbridge as their only hope. And now the Dudley Museum is closed and will deteriorate quickly if empty.

used to play in there in the 90s, back then the door was just bricked up and we'd just knock out the new red bricks, in the last room at the top of the collapse we used to be able to see tiny beams of light coming through above, few of us would get brave and try removing a little of spoil believing if we could get through there would be more rooms, but we'd always shit ourselves and give up thinking we going to get buried alive
