Baddog, I felt this way after the 1st Orioles series: The Yanks are an average team (at best) with a really good record. Unless they make some major moves at the deadline, they're cooked. So frustrating.
Mantle could hit the ball out of Yellowstone and he'd still would hustle out of ths box. He was injured, tapped from head to toe he would steal 2nd base when he'd get on base. I know, i saw him do it in a game at the end of the season when they had the pennant wrapped up.

One of Boone's many deficiencies as a manager is he thinks if he shows confidence in a poorly performing player, it will improve that performance. And he takes that to the absolute limit...many times using the player ALL EFFING YEAR!! OR LONGER...while the player continues to play poorly. How else do you explain him batting a .215 hitter(who had been 2 for his last 25) clean up?
