We love penix but I don’t joe n them is high on penix then the other QBs , we gotta remember these new guys coming into the giants organization. We don’t know joe , Daboll and the others guys too well to know what they do . They might view JJMcCarthy as they guy that’s fits what they wanna do as a offense . It’s early but if we hear rumbles of them picking penix den I would understand but we haven’t heard the giants mentioned penix as a possible yet . I would love for a receiver first or they might do something where they trade up take a qb and move future picks n trade back In the top 10 but we don’t know just predicting. But I agree McCarthy at 6 no but I would understand what they tryna do

I’ve basically decided to just sit back & watch football… I’ve stopped worrying too much about who giants get because Ive got ZERO input & ZERO say in who they get… I’ve been let down way too many times…they’ve drafted & signed guys I’ve wanted, & I’ve been disappointed anyway… they’ve gotten guys that I was totally against them getting & they’ve played tremendously… I’ve been right & wrong equally as many times… too much going on in my real life to worry constantly about this anymore…. Just trust the GM & Coach is all I can do

Well said. At the end of the day they're rich regardless of wins and losses.

If we take JJ at 6, I’ll assume Schoen and Daboll got their guy and trust that they know what they’re doing. That’s what it boils down to.

JJ McCarthy was the best quarterback in college that distractible on third down per the stats. His ball placement is really really good as well. You’re locked into your opinion BD but everything I’ve said was something NFL draft analysts have said like Mel Kiper and others

Just curious why is it that we act like Jones winning a wild card game and getting utterly embarrassed the very next by the Eagles is some feather in his cap like he had this great playoff run

Bc him and Barkely were only offense players trying to win. Also you need some more context on why, bc he also won 7 games trailing in the half without Barkely. In my opinion we need a QB with that mentality.

I like jj a lot and I think we should take him I see the potential I would love to get him in the second and get one of these Wrs in the first

"IF" the choice is JJ. Take a receiver at 6, and trade up from the 2nd to the 1st and grab JJ. Of course if it all works out like that.

They say Brady is working with him so that's a plus.Its the Michigan connection.Nobody hated McCarthy more than me being a Ohio State fan but if he has much more talent that wasn't shown and could be let off the leash I'm all for it him in New York

J J McCarthy may not be a no brainer and taking him at 6 may be a stretch but If they take McCarthy, with it being a stretch, I think would be a good gutsy pick. He needs to sit and learn for a year but he's improved from year to year and he's a winner. He can command an offense with weapons. He can lead. I respect your opinion and your reservations about McCarthy. Your Giants talent is growing. Having a QB to grow with the team would be a good thing. I know it would take patience and the Giants fans want to win now. I don't see how they can make it happen. McCarthy, in my opinion could be a good Giant. But, at the same time, with the Rams being my team, the Giants are 3b among my favorite so this is just my opinion. Laita!

JJ was dealing with a leg injury of which he hurt during that Penn State game. He was not 100% the last 4 games (Including 2nd half of Penn State game) leading into the playoffs..so I would not put much stock in the drop off of TDs. They relied heavily on the run game for good reason. I am intrigued by him..Vegas now has him as a fav to be selected by NYG..My gut tells me the Giants maybe targeting him..but we have a month to go and everything depends on the top 3 picks. BTW...my fav. QB for Giants is Jayden Daniels. Also the NYG interviewed WR Cornelius Johnson of Michigan Wolverines and his positional value is #30 among WRs..Which is not one of the top WRs but maybe because of the connection to JJ McCarthy ..anyway just a thought.

I didn't want us to resign DJ, but I don't want McCarthy either (and certainly not at #6) because to put it simply I've not seen him throw enough at the college level. Now that's not to say he can't be an NFL player or that because you can do it at college level means you can automatically do it at the NFL level, but I'm not risking him in NY after years of failure here.

Hey Baddog. I want to be clear on this. I agree that McCarthy with the 6th overall pick would be a major reach. The number 6 pick is valuable and you could have added a plug and play now weapon with the pick. However, while it would be a major reach, I think J J McCarthy could be a good QB for the Giants. People will be mad that you used your 6th overall pick for a QB who needs to sit for a year or two and needs to be developed. But I think that when he finally becomes the number one signal caller, he'll have a better team to lead. That isn't to say you couldn't have done better with your draft and that I'm trumpeting McCarthy for you. But if is McCarthy, I think he can eventually get the job done. BUT, that's just my opinion!!!!

Anyone remember another mistake at #6? And at QB? JJ is a great kid, an even greater teammate, and has the best attitude. But that does not change the fact that he was only asked NOT to turn the ball over and let the best O-line, running game, and NFL-coached defense roll over everyone. (Yes, the Michigan DC came from the NFL.) I cannot see JJ being picked at 6. Or even 39. This team needs a TON of work. Grab Nix at the top of the 2nd, or trade the #6 pick to take him at like #28 to sit a year.

I like JJ , I watch a lot of college ball definitely one of the most physically talented QBs in College football. Not ideal at 6 but I won’t hate it he’s young and got the intangibles

I'm praying to God the Commanders or Patriots are dumb enough to take Mccarthy, so Drake or Jayden could fall to us. Mccarthy reminds me exactly like when scouts were raving about Mitchell Trubisky, saying he was better than Mahomes. Sometimes scouts overthink way too much instead of just trusting their eyes. Michael Penix Jr had the best combine by far of all the QBs, the guy looks like a cyborg throwing the football and most importantly -- his medicals checked out perfect. Taking Mccarthy over Penix is the 2024 version of taking Trubisky over Mahomes.

He could be the answer but gnats fan base only gives rookie 5 games until they hate them !!

JJ is much better than most believe. Whether the Giants select him or not is not of my concern. However, I am of the belief that he has that so-called "IT" factor that we see from high-level NFL players. We'll see. I'm not a psychic nor a GM. Neither is anyone else in the comments section. Hey Baddog I believe MHJ could get to the giants cause if 4 qbs get selected in the top 4 cause i believe there will be a trade into the top 5 especially since there is always a QB that does and there is always someone that drops and if that happens and the chargers go defense then u can get MHJ

I don't know if he will be a good or great or a bust or backup quarterback at best but there wouldn't be a need to take him at 6 you can get him later if you like him but doing that sounds like your forcing a pick if getting a quarterback is what you want to do you might as well move up to get a better option

I agree I don't want JJ McCarthy at 6 especially with Nabers or Odunze there at 6 the Giants need weapons on the offense the guy I would like to see Daboll work with is Joe Milton he has size and elite arm strength needs to work on his accuracy and footwork Milton would be available later in the draft maybe even as a UDFA doubt he would be a viable starter in the 1st year maybe even the 2nd but would be interesting to see what Milton with that Elite arm strength and his athletic gifts being developed by Daboll who is supposed to be a QB guru that being said the Giants need a QB that can start now not later after the top 3 guys I don't think anyone in this draft beyond those 3 could start this year

McCarthy ran a pro style offense, playing for Michigan he wasn't asked to do much with throwing like you stated. The difference is he played against way better competition the Daniel Jones ever played against at Duke. I would still much rather we draft McCarthy or Jayden Daniels, then keep Jones. That ship has sailed!!! Time to turn the page.

I like jj and yes it is a reach at 6 but I wouldn’t be mad about it. I see the potential in him,especially under daboll. I much prefer if joe trades back a few spots and takes jj but like I said I wouldn’t be 2 upset on taking him at 6.

I keep saying this, the Giants need to trade back! Anybody can tell that any quarterback that gets drafted to this team good bust. We are a horrible team. So reduce the risk, trade back, and add draft capital for future years. When we traded with the Bears, we ended up with a higher draft pick from them, then what we gotfrom ourselves. Perhaps we can fix up this team, a little, and then go draft to quarterback.

If I'm being brutally honest, I don't watch much College Ball and I know basically nothing about him.. All I know is if the Giants have enough belief in his abilities to select him, he'd better be good.. Otherwise we'd just be taking a QB for the sake of taking a QB.

I can't believe Schoen would pull the trigger at #6, on McCarthy, seeing as how bad Evan Neal has turned out, drafted #7 overall. If McCarthy failed, Schoen would never get a GM job again, let alone scout job!

This JJ situation is a little Jonesesque in my opinion. I'm not saying they are the same quarterback as they have different skillsets. What I'm hearing is McCarthy has a rocket of an arm and is only 21 but no touch on his passes. The Giants got pigeon-holed when they drafted Jones as they had a situation with Eli where you couldn't even discuss bringing in a future QB until it was too late. They pretty much had no choice but to draft Jones at 6 as it was their guy and they couldn't take a chance. Once they took him at that pick you pretty much put him in a situation that he was already behind the eightball. Jones will be walking out of here with a lot of money so I don't feel terrible for him either. If Jones was drafted later he would still get all the criticism but the situation wouldn't be as venomous. I think the first three picks of this draft are going to dictate everything. If they are not all QBs that will change the landscape of the draft immensely.

I think if you go with JJ, you are practically banking on what he could be, not what he is right at this moment. Harbaugh's offenses have historically been run heavy, looking back at his time with the 49ers. JJ although is production is pretty bad, so was Josh Allen's in a much weaker conference if you just want to look at stats and no one thought Josh Allen would be able to carry his team or at least I didn't think so, but the bills gambled on what he could be and it worked out. JJ is a smart kid who is still young ( just turned 21) so no reason he can develop, he in my opinion outside of caleb williams and Joe milton has the strongest arm in the draft, he played in a very complex offense so that would mean it would be easier to adjust to the NFL. if Schoen & Daboll take JJ at 6, it will ruffle some feathers and similar to Jones, but not really the same considering Jones was thought to be a 2nd round guy and JJ now could go top 5. Also lastly I will say this, if there is anyone that I trust to mold talent into a very good to great product it is Kafka and Daboll( Ex: Patrick Mahomes & Josh Allen). Have a great day everybody !

My opinion is that people can get good at things without doing them professionally. I don’t think that’s a fair comment. I’m not sold on JJ either, but people can make assessments by breaking down film just like every fan does by watching.

College is college, The NFL is a whole other BEAST! McCarthy is NOT THE ANSWER. Draft Odunze or Nabers at 6, BPA and Penix at 39 or trade back and get OL, DT, and a RB with more 3rd round picks.

Not a big fan either of JJ. I hope he is not taken at 6. If by miracle Jayden falls to us at 6, he would be my pick. If QB's go 1,2,3 in the draft and Nabers falls to 6 I'm running to the podium. If Nabers is taken before us then it falls to Odunze. Like him as well. But a scenario I would investigate is trading down to the Jets at 10 or Raiders at 13. Then my pick would be Quinoyon Mitchell the CB. Imagine Banks on 1 side, Mitchell on the other and if they resign McKinney, we'll have a secondary to be reckoned with all under 25 years old. The WR class is deep in this draft. With the trade we'll have 3 2nd round picks. We could move back to the 1st for someone.

The real question is this> Is JJ a better QB than Daniel Jones is now, and will he develop into a FAR BETTER QB than Jones can ever become ... the answer to this question is YES. That does not mean that the Giants must Draft him at #6. No because they have other needs that must be addressed in Rounds 1 and 2. If Spencer Rattler is still on the Board when the Giants use their second pick in the second round they should take him because he will not start right away. He can sit behind Daniel Jones and learn what NOT TO DO in order to become a good QB.

You didn't give any reasons why JJ at 6 is the wrong pick. It's wide open after the top 2 (Williams & Maye) media crowned Daniels as qb3 but I bet the league doesn't see it that way. JJ two years younger & has better arm talent. Whether it's Giants or another team, JJ will end up the qb3
