New York Giants | Can't Make Everyone Happy!
No matter who Joe Schoen selected at #6, he was going to have detractors that were not happy with the pick. In my, humble, opinion, he chose correctly! Malik Nabers was the right move in this situation!

Baddog is a passionate fan who was born, and raised in the state of New York! I am A HUGE sports fan.
Baddog has a very strong, passionate, roller coaster ride of emotions personality which can sometimes lead to rant and rage videos, about his favorite teams, which many seem to enjoy. This channel is that of a fan, and nothing else.
My videos are done from that of my own perspective and views as a fan. I am a HUGE New York Yankees, New York Giants, & New York Knicks fan.
I do video, and live stream content covering The New York Yankees, New York Giants and Los Angeles Lakers, which has also lead to the nickname "LakerDog".
You may ask yourself, "If Baddog is a Knicks fan, why does he do Los Angeles Laker content?"
The Reason for this is because I have a family, and because of my work, and gym schedule, streaming all of The Knicks games would be impossible, so I began covering The Lakers in late 2018, because most of their games are played at 9:00PM EST, or later.
Hopefully you guys & gals will find my content enjoyable and will continue to come back for future content!
If you do enjoy it, please make sure to subscribe to the channel, and click the bell for notifications. Also, please like, and share the channel if you would be so kind. Hope to see you on the channel!

The Giant went into the off-season needing the following; QB1, WR1, RB1, TE1, RT, RG, LG, DE, DT, CB2, FS. We ended up getting WR1, TE1, x2 OL ( shuffle them as you will) DE, CB2, FS and running back by commitee. Not bad for 6 picks and marginal cap space.

They actually got more than 2 OL, I believe they got 4 or 5 OL in free agency a DL and obviously Edge with Burns. All they need right now is a QB1 so it will be a good situation next year for that rookie to come into. You forgot to mention Kick returner and now we have that with Tyrone Tracy as well (Gunner Olszewski was serviceable but we needed an upgrade). Tracy has a very real chance to be the starting RB by week 10. This team is building out nicely. The only pick I didn't like was the LB in the 6th round, other than that they got great value with every pick.

There's a lot to be said for putting a young quarterback onto a good roster.

Baddog, you have the same mentality as me. I want the Giants to be playoff regulars on a consistent basis, not once every 5 years after going through 4 years of losing. I like what Joe is doing so far. He's putting together a very good support cast for the QBs, not just Jones. We must stay the course and be patient in this rebuild. The Giants probably see the playoffs more than the 2022 campaign if Slayton, Engram, RJames and Barkley don't drop the ball in critical moments.

This is the facts. Over the last 10-13 years the NY Giants had the WORST rushing yardage by their running backs, even with Barkley. The fact is, Barkley may have ran for 1,500 yards, but all of the other RB's may have only 200 rushing yards combined. This is on the coaching. When Barkley went down neither Brightwell or Gray got carries. They just threw more or gave the ball to Breida. Why give the ball to Breida if he has no future with the Giants? If they had Barkley split his time more he would have been much better. He's going to be a beast in Philly. Over the past few years we drafted RB's and never used them. If we did and if they showed some promise that would have helped in the Barkley negotiations. At the end of 2022 & '23 Barkley held all the cards. He could have asked for anything.

Two positions for the contrary opinion: 1.) isn’t the fact that giants competed hard and very easily could have won 9 games with their backup qbs a message that roster isn’t terrible and it’s the qb play that’s holding us back. Also, it’s not a good look that the team arguably looked the same or better with the backups then with jones 2.) this one is more personal but JJ McCarthy felt like the perfect giants qb. Hard worker, likable with media, smart player, good mobility with a + arm, and a winner. Just because he wasn’t asked to carry doesn’t mean he can’t, there were moments during michigans season where they need McCarthy to make a play and he did just that. This could be personal bias cause I had McCarthy as qb3 in draft but you can’t pass on that with regards to reason 1 I listed prior.

@@BaddogSports honestly, that’s very true. However, I think McCarthy is way better at each of those things. I don’t really believe jones is a “smart player” on the field cause he’s always a seconds late to react which is one of the most important aspects of a qb. And winning doesn’t mean anything in the nfl necessarily but I view a winning mentality as a real game changer on a team. I also never saw many “wow” moments with jones while I did probably 1-2 a game with McCarthy (other than the Penn state game where Michigan just pounded state on the ground). I get both sides but I personally believe McCarthy would have been the right move/ is going to hit in the nfl (actually prefer him over drake maye but I know that’s minority). Just have to wait and see tho

I don’t think people are upset about us having Malik nabers per say. It’s the fact that we have a true #1 wide receiver and he may not be used to his full potential because we have a year six QB coming off a Acl and neck injury who plays terribly against good defenses and has bad pocket presence. Even with a bad o line, the best QBs know how to manipulate a pocket, Daniel jones doesn’t do that and to expect him to just up and start is a high expectation. Either way I love Malik nabers and I’m very happy we drafted him.

  • @Bdog4114
    @Bdog41142 ай бұрын

I'm very much in the camp that wanted to get a QB. I actually thought JJ looked as good as Drake Maye on film to my eyes but let me put some facts out. 1) I have no idea what I'm talking about. Like you said I'm a YT gm. Same goes with every other fan 2) I only would of wanted them to get a QB that they were inlove with. They clearly identified that guy in Drake Maye. 3) They threw the kitchen sink trying to get him. We offered 1, 2, 4 this year and 1 next year. It was never happening So would you rather get a qb by any means necessary even if they don't think the kid will be great. Or would you rather get a playmaker that might be the best or second best talent in the entire draft? I think getting the best talent in a position of need in that senerio is exactly what is best for the franchise. Sure I'm disappointed we didn't get a qb but I'm glad they didn't do what Gettleman did and overdraft a guy instead of getting a stud. Nabers will help our future Qb develop whoever that may be.

And lastly on DJ being better at the Vikings, I think he would be. For some reason his best games seem to come in a dome.

However, I scratch my head at our 3rd round pick Andreu Phillips when I thought that was a perfect time to draft a Offensive Lineman. To me, we didn’t really address the OL like I thought we would do after watching them give up a record breaking 85 sacks last year. Idk, I kind of thought that was a major priority. Instead, the Jets ended up doing what we were supposed to do. Atleast we have Nabers to watch this year because I think that’s all that’s gonna be interesting this season!!

When it comes to the Draft, it's not even our 1st round I'm thinking about.. I don't think the guys we Drafted 2nd round onward are neccessarily Bad Players/Picks or anything, I just hope the O-Lineman we Signed in Free Agency give us what we need in order to see drastic improvements in that unit and it justifies NOT selecting an O-Lineman anywhere in this Draft.

While having a young play making core and the only thing you have to replace is LT and maybe RT in the next two to three years but this is all in theory, lol.

In reading most of the comments about the draft I don’t think everyone is asking for his job because of the quarterback situation. I believe a lot of people are scratching their heads about the Phillips pick. He allowed receivers to catch 67% of the time and he doesn’t tackle and if anyone denies that go check the film buff Bobby Skinner. And Joe was asked this at the presser and his answer was he’s a high character guy lol . I didn’t want an OL guy but Haynes was there and I thought that was a better pick , I have no problem with the other picks

Instead of relying on a youtuber, you should watch the film yourself on All 22. Andru Phillips Per PFF: "In 2023, he was a consistent starter at outside cornerback. He brings a physical brand of play to the position, and that lends itself well to press coverage, where he is most confident. He is a strong run defender from the slot and can set the edge, stop screens and make tackles. Phillips’ deficiencies are on display in off-coverage. His lack of starting experience shows in his spacing and timing for contact. He also must improve the fluidity and precision in his hip turns." He's explosive and not afraid to tackle. Aggressive, athletic, leader with high upside and his floor is day 1 starter at Nickel.

Impatience is running rampant with the rookie fans. Your spot on Dog. Football teams takes a few years at least to become competitive. That is if you draft perfectly and most , if not all teams , just don`t do that. Yes , the Giants have sucked at drafting since the last 3 years of the Reece era. Add that up and you have what the Giants are at this point. I think this team is moving forward , finally , in the right direction.

Baddog - THE GIANTS MAY HAVE GOTTEN LUCKY. I'm reaching here. The Giants invited the QB from Wabash, Liam Thompson to spring training. This kid has some serious talent. However, he played against weaker competition. The Manning's liked him. He was the leading passer in Division III last season, he averaged 358.8 yards per game. Look at his stats. He's not big, 6'1" 200lbs. He can run too. Check this guy out. Did we find another QB like the QB from Morehead St?

Like your title says "Can't make everyone happy." Schoen got a #1WR that most everybody wanted at pick 6. Did he try for a QB at 3 with a possible trade with NE.? Possibly. We needed to replace McKinney, check with Nubin. Needed a CB, check with Phillips. Waller is probably gone so we needed a pass catching TE, check with Theo Johnson. Have to replace Saquon so they found Tyrone Tracy Jr. at pick 166. Finally we added a LB in Darius Muasau who will be used on special team and add much needed depth at LB. So Schoen used his picks to fill needs with good players. All we, as a fan base can ask for at this point. Schoen will continue to try and get more players. Chill out Giant fans, our time will come. Schoen is building this team from the ground up. It takes time.

The lunacy I am hearing after the draft about all the positions is off the charts. The saying is "It's not there are more stupid people in the world, social media has made it easier to give their opinions. I am also hearing complaints about not drafting O-Line, D-Line, etc. People will take a player with a fifth round grade in the second round because it is a need. It is not where you pick in the order or the positional value. It is who you draft and what are they going to contribute to the team as well as how are they going to behave after they start making money. Once Drake Maye was gone, I didn't feel the need to do anything other than draft the best available player at 6. There are so may scenarios that can play out in the future including acquiring a veteran QB.

I don't care what QB would have been available at #6. If a QB was picked we would have been making the same mistake that we made with Jones. That is, making sure we have an OL and some other key pieces for the QB. The reason that I'm not he GM is because my wife doesn't want to move anywhere near the tri -state area. So, they wanted a WR. I don't understand the pick. Another slot WR. I didn't want a WR with our first pick. This years draft was deep at WR. Meaning you can get a quality WR after round #1. I would have tried to trade back to maybe pick #10. Don't be to cute or greedy. Trading back saves us money. I would NOT have picked a WR. I wanted the Giants to pick TE Brock Bowers. He's a stud and he fills a need. I didn't do enough research I admit, but by looking at the combine results my second choice was Theo Johnson. This kid has the measurable's. He's big and fast. I still think hat he's a good pick. He just needs coaching. I don't understand why they drafted a RB. We have Eric Gray. In his last year at Oklahoma he rushed for over 1,300 yards. He's also a threat out of the backfield , and is a decent pass protector. I would have picked an OL. Young depth is always good. Maybe a OC who has some OG experience. This would be a great depth piece for the OL. I love the safety pick. At CB, was Phillips the best available CB at pick #70? For this pick, I'll have to trust them.

If DJ was so good, teams would be banging down the Giants door wanting him….that & the fact that the Giants tried desperately to trade up to take a QB shows that they don’t believe that even with a better roster that Jones is going to be a good QB.
