Let us not forget the most unfortunate demise of St. Vitalis of Gaza at the hands of an angry cuckold. Saints have died because of someone's misjudgment of seeing scandal where there isn't any: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vitalis_of_Gaza .
I realize I am too late to participate in this show, but I do hope this gives some food for thought for anyone who reads - and certainly for those at AFR who are carefully examining this issue. I would like to add a different perspective about being ministered to after sexual assault, sexual abuse, or other types of toxic/abusive situations arising from male abusers towards female victims. For many women, there may indeed be a benefit or need of some type of ministering in the general sense by other women for the sake of healing - and that can be a ministry that will be developed in the Orthodox church among trained laywomen - there is no need for those ministering women to be ordained, though perhaps they should be trained so as not to further wound the victim - after all, simply being a woman in no way guarantees that she is qualified to help rather than heal, and there are plenty of women in general who have hurt rather than helped in such situations. But I don't think this eliminates or reduces the role of the priest in ministering to the victim. Speaking from personal experience, I think it is very healing to be ministered to by a priest who is determined to walk in the ways of God. There can be a man-shaped wound that arises from abusive situations, and that is the devil's work as well - that twisting and warping of the mind and heart into fearing men. Protecting that wound rather than healing it was never a good solution - and in some ways, assuming/asserting that women only should be allowed in that space, that men aren't welcome - that can just protect that wound and keep it from healing fully - or it may heal warped/twisted. Maybe there are areas/ways in which trained women can "enter" safely that a male cannot - but if that involves blocking or replacing a priest's ministry, sorry, I'm calling foul on that. For me, it has been very healing to be ministered to men of God who stand for the opposite of what I have suffered, I have been able to experience the restoration of a healed understanding of what God intended for human relationships - and the fact that the ministering is coming from a male priest helps to heal up the cracks of internal structures that have been broken or smashed, it helps restore faith not only in men, but by means of that, faith in humanity and God's plans overall. The solution to bad men is not women - the solution is good men. As I wrote earlier, I think there may be a need for trained laywomen to help female parishioners dealing with such issues - whether of abuse or pregnancy/birth issues. But I don't think that in any way reduces or replaces the important role of the priest - if anything, perhaps priests could benefit from further training in how to minister to women who are undergoing these issues, to ensure that they do no harm and better know how to help/heal - within the bounds of their ministry. If anyone feels like there is a lack right now, then that is evidence that the priest's ministry needs to be further expanded as well - in other words, he's not "off the hook". He needs to be able to help and not hurt, he needs to fully fill his role. In addition to that, a trained laywoman's ministry could be established. Lastly, sometimes when people bring up the example of sexual assault, marital abuse, or miscarriage as justification for the role of deaconess - as serious as these issues are, I would hate to think that they are being used to manipulate others into a quick acquiescence to a particular agenda. That brings to mind the example of rape being used to justify abortion - and not only for the rape victim, but for all. That is what it sounds like to me when a deaconess is ordained supposedly because women and men can't come into close contact in a culture (which I actually *do* understand, due to my own cultural background), so perhaps she is needed to help baptize women - but, when her role is expanded beyond that (to giving communion, and to both sexes), then the intentions/explanations simply do not look honest/transparent in my opinion. I think it is a good thing that Orthodoxy is able to adapt to various cultures, but I also think it is important to remember that those coming from other cultures also need to adapt to Orthodoxy itself rather than compromising it by warping or chipping away at it. I apologize if my comment has caused any offense, these are simply my own opinions.
Anything goes in africa😂
God bless, you, Dr. Jeannie! Could you make your administration toward the end as a clip or sets of clips? Easy to share your good encouragement! ❤
Thank you Father.
Orthodox unity,?)( I was wondering if the model of a Co-operative or an incorporated model would help all the Orthodox Church groups be in sync more hear in the United States and still hold more to each owns social and ethnic traditions??
Loving one another is the second commandment not the first. What is love? Sometimes love requires judgement. Sometimes love requires marching off to war. Sometimes love requires overthrowing the tables of those who blaspheme God. The hippie ideal is of the antichrist.
What a privilege it is to be a child of God!
Excellent episode, Dr. Jeannie! My favorite quote of St. Paisios at the end! Truth bomb!❤
I pray that this movement of the Holy Spirit comes to fruit, and that phyletism be kept at bay. otherwise, it would lead to further schism within the church similar to those within the western rite churches.
Are these actual catholic priests or is the “father” designation given them in the comments like a tongue-in-cheek thing?
They are actual Eastern Orthodox priests
Starting a petition for an AFR fundraiser with a target goal reward of having Fr Stephen watch Neon Genesis Evangelion (the 26 episodes + End of Evangelion film) & report back.
That's a great idea!

What is the hymn sung to the Theotokos at the end?
Father said it was the Theotokion from the Presentation of our Savior in February. If you scroll back a bit, you can hear him announce what he was preparing to sing.
@s.d.berquist6866 I heard it but wasn't familiar with the word Theotokion or that particular service. Still learning. Thank you!
Sure! Theotokion is a hymn specifically composed in honor of the Theotokos, the Mother of God. The feast of the Presentation of our Savior is the feast 8 days after December 25th, when Jesus was brought to the temple by Mary and Joseph. If you look up the feast online, you will be able to learn about it. Happy seeking!
Thanks for sharing 🙏☦️
This message medicine for the soul.
Alleluia 🎉
I'm not sure I agree with your statement that nothing good will come from following Christ. I understand you're trying to soften the sudden awareness of sin and trauma on the soul, but your statement should be more balanced. I say that with respect in the hope others may see this and not be put off. God is Good, Christ is Good.
Please pray for me so i can quit alcohol, tobacco and pornography and stay away from women so i dont feel lust in my heart
Hello Fathers. That William Brahman guy and his other associates spawned the Christian identity movement. I know it’s small but there’s an avenue if y’all wanted to see even crazier stuff.
DOMSE did it first….. hahahahahah!!!!!
No way this was uploaded 6 days ago.
It was last Monday, why?
@@AncientFaithMinistries I’ve been led here, it’s nice to know this is still ongoing. God bless you.

Sin doesn't get worse after you find Christ it gets better, you just become acutely aware of your sin and develop an intolorance to it when you become Born Again. After you become Born Again the sanctification process takes place, exposing your sins to you and convicting you to repent. If you are truly born again then this will be really intolorable at first but will get better over time as you repent, if you're not born again then your sin will still be the worst it's ever been and will continue getting worse without you even realizing how much of a problem it is. If you take pride in your sin, then you are not born again and are not a saved Christian. But if you acknowledge your sin, find it intolorable, and constantly try to repent and improve, then you're just being sanctified.

Facinating.
Wow. Amen. Praise God.
Thank you for your love.
By 6 minutes in, the guest Nathan has spelled out the failure of Greek orthodoxy not only in Albania but in America. We should not forget that the Greek archdiocese only blessed English for liturgical usage in 1970 (the year the OCA received its Tomos of autocephaly). By 1970, many Greek Americans had families that had been in the country a century. They only began that year to say a few parts of the services in English (it’s still forbidden by the Ecumenical Patriarch to say, “Lord have mercy,” instead of, “κύριε, ελέησον!”) and by that time many people had tuned out and only came for the souvlaki. It’s too late now for the GOA because their Head is a Phanariot who will never understand America whose language is not even his second one. The privileging of Greek to the exclusion of comprehension is killing the church.
Albania is a country held together by shared language (two dialects, Geg and Tosk, actually) and culture. Northern Albania is largely Catholic due to Italian influence and the south half Orthodox and half Bektashi Muslim due to Greek and Turkish influence, respectively. But in no region are many people particularly religious, and the different confessions don’t pose a barrier to national unity because being Albanian is not about having a shared religious confession (as it is in a place like Orthodox Georgia) but sharing language and customs. Albanians were denied access to religion during Enver Hoxha’s regime but they never were, and still aren’t, that into religion. Same goes for expats. They form churches and even dioceses but it’s mostly a cultural association thing for them.
Thank you for this inside look into Albanian culture!
@@AncientFaithMinistries I recently had to learn about the country and read several books, just had to share!
I wish albanian people have real experience of presence of Christ! God bless them!

It would be helpful to so many hurting people to differentiate between self care and pride, instead of being so general and blanket-statementy. I have struggled hard trying to heal from childhood trauma that left me feeling less-than-human and frozen with toxic shame. I would neglect my health severely, for example I didn't brush and floss my teeth for years and developed periodontal disease in my early twenties. I wouldn't shower very much either. Pretty certain that this is not how God would have me live. There's a certain degree of human dignity that is healthy and healing. Many people who have been abused don't have this and continually get into relationships where they get abused again or stay in dangerous situations, for themselves and their children sometimes. And many who are abused become hard-of-heart and abuse others. The scriptures say to treat others as you want to be treated, and Jesus Christ also commands to love others as yourself, therefore we are commanded to love our self (not love of pleasure). A resource I recommend for those struggling that has really helped me is the podcast Healing the Unresolved on AFR by Fr. Joshua Makoul.
Hello, Fr. Evan did nuance the distinction between self care and pride a bit more during the full segment. It was hard to capture the nuance in a video clip that has to be under 60 seconds.
Alan Watts's take on Jesus is probably the truth.
How do people believe this nonsense?
In Northern Epirus ..what is occupied by Shipetar regime....the orthodox faith of the Greeks continued uninterrupted..despite the fierce antihellenic and antichristian efforts of the cabinets of the Sqipetar goverments ever since....one should not forget the tearing down of the St.Athanasius church in Himmara...or in Agioi Saranta...and the forceful tactic of bringing in northern Sqipetars to the autonomous Northern Epirus christian orthodox areas....
Get over it
Wow hallelujah this man is beautiful soul I feel blessed looking at him I see the lord
Their faith was split between north and south influences of Papacy and Eastern Roman common christian orthodox belief and area
The educated people wrote even their shipetar language with Greek letters
It’s been written is several alphabets, and some Albanian linguistics have even come up with uniquely Albanian alphabets.
The new testament was experienced in the Greek language....they were bilinguals...and they communicated in lingua franca kf the era that was the Greek
Wowww you’re on an anti-Albanian roll over here. How about you let us Orthodox Albanians that have the stories of our grandparents have a word for once? Only the educated people might have been bilingual! The masses only went to church only knowing a few words like Kyrie eleison and such, and they didn’t understand most of the Liturgy. You think soldiers and peasant farmers were bilingual? I don’t think so. I think Archbishop Anastasios is 100% correct in saying that people abandoned Christianity because they were uneducated in the faith.
@@odetafecani1614 and all the saints..martyrs...omoligites....all over the East Roman Empire who didn't abandon their Saviour..who believed in him from word of mouth to ear....who never abandoned The One Holy Apostolic and for all(cath-olic =for all people of earth) And of course one should speak his shipetar language and write it either in the Athenian alphabet of in the alphabet of Cymean (so called lati ital alphabet)
