Launch Pad Astronomy

Launch Pad Astronomy

Welcome to Launch Pad Astronomy! I'm Christian Ready, your friendly neighborhood astronomer, and this channel is the place to geek out on the universe and understand how it works, all in plain english.

When I was 13 years old, I started working at the Sproul Observatory at Swarthmore College. I helped with observing, analysis, and monthly open houses. I was instantly hooked on sharing the universe with others. Other highlights include working on the Hubble Space Telescope and teaching astronomy at Towson University (I’m probably skipping a couple of decades here and there, but you get the idea).

I upload once per week, though my exact schedule varies with my teaching schedule every semester. But if you subscribe and hit the notification icon, you’ll always know when my latest videos are uploaded.

Otherwise, you can find us at www.launchpadworkshop.org/ and www.christianready.com/.

Pluto is a planet. No planetary scientists use the IAU definition because it’s a bad definition and an embarrassment to science.

Great explanation! I think the most curious thing about this GRB is how incredibly unlikely it is that earth was hit by a “laser beam” from 2 billion light years away. I wonder if years from now we’ll actually understand that it was a black hole communicating with our planet.

Planet 9 is a frightening planet, therefore it is very well known for many thousands of years in the history of mankind. We are walking in the dark as long as we ignore ancient texts, like the Indian Mahabharata and the Mayan Popol Vuh, that tell us that our planet Earth is suffering from a cycle of seven natural disasters. Those disasters are causing a huge tidal wave, massive floods, earthquakes, hurricanes, and a bombardment of fiery meteors every few thousand years. Several animal species become extinct and mankind hardly survives. Every earthlayer that is lying loosly on top of the previous one is the proof of one disaster. The only possible natural cause of this cycle can be a ninth planet in our solar system, orbiting our sun in an eccentric orbit. Thus the event is predictable but inescapable as the sunrise tomorrow. We have pictures of the approaching planet, ancient sources show us the orbit of planet 9 and its whereabouts. Just east of Pisces. And it looks like LL Pegasi, the spiraled cloud, also just east of Pisces. Coincidence? To learn much more about planet 9, the cycle of recurring floods, the recreation of civilizations and its timeline and ancient high technology, read the eBook: "Planet 9 = Nibiru". You can read it on every computer, tablet or smartphone. Search: invisible nibiru

How LOUD was it? Also, how dense is the corona compared to the surface? Which means that the heat of the less dense corona is less than the surface even though the temperature is much higher. Just like boiling water at 100°C contains more heat than air at 500°C.

Enjoyed the video. Along with the cold temps and occasional flares, shouldn't gravity on 'Barnard b' (mass of at least three times that of the Earth) also be an issue for Earthlings? I'm already heavy enough here, lol.

In 120 years, humans have built the first airplane, gone to space, landed on the moon, and now we have this telescope, which is essentially a looking glass back in time to the origin of the universe.

The Sun is NOT "Nothing", James Webb Orbits the Sun with the same period as the Earth. Not going to waste 14 minutes on a flashy title which is just SO SO Wrong. Look up Lagrange Points instead.

Taking a layman's guess before the explanation is given. I think it orbits L2 by being slowed down and then "slingshotted" forward in its solar orbit by Earth. That it, it is actually orbiting the sun but in a position so precise that Earth's gravitational effect causes it to _appear_ to orbit L2.

Planet 9 is not recognized by astronomers because it is hidden in a large spiral cloud like LL Pegasi. Astronomers know nothing about ancient human history that tells us about a cycle of seven natural disasters that is caused by a celestial body. Every earth layer that is lying loose on top of the previous one is the proof of one disaster because when that planet crosses the ecliptic plane with a very high speed the gravitational force causes a huge tidal wave on our planet. That wave wipes out the existing civilization and some animal species go extinct. It leaves a thick layer of mud all over the planet that hardens and becomes the next earth layer. We have many pictures from that planet 9 that is approaching our planet Earth. We have pictures from its orbit and where we must look now, east of the constellation Pisces. That is also the spot where LL Pegasi can be found. Coincidence? To learn much more about planet 9, the cycle of recurring floods, the recreation of civilizations and its timeline and ancient high technology, read the e-Book: "Planet 9 = Nibiru". You can read it on every computer, tablet or smartphone. Search: invisible nibiru 9
