    Great video👍🏻, I’ve been following you for a while now and really enjoy your content. I was a professional painter for 27 years and always preferred Sata over everything else once I started using them, although I was always partial to Devilbiss ( the Tekna guns were nice too). That being said, Sata isn’t shy at all about their pricing and it’s gotten extreme, I have at least a dozen Sata guns lying around but if I didn’t and I needed one I would happily buy a copy these days for a fraction of the price , and that ntools gun looks like it does the job!. I just picked up an A610 because I’m spraying some trim in my house with an alkyd urethane and the biggest tip size I have for my Sata’s is a 1.5 which is just a little too tight without a lot of thinning. The A610 with a 1.7 works perfect and I’m shocked at how well that gun handles and sprays for the money

    Hi Robert, The quality of these guns is rather surprising considering their price, I know the original manufacturers have research and development to conduct but some of the pricing of the higher end guns are getting extreme to say the least. Good to hear you enjoy the videos buddy, I genuinely enjoy making them 👍

    @@peteshobbies5383 I had a 1.7 for my Sata 3000 but someone stole it, I went checking on prices for another and they want $370…….for a tip set?!🤯 I remember buying my first “real” gun, a Devilbiss JGA 502 and it was less than $100… with extras. I remember buying Sata Jet 90’s for a little over $200! What the hell!?!? Everything has gotten ridiculous. Keep on keeping on my friend 💪🏻 Looking forward to more great content from you

    There are a dozen companies selling this spray gun. With the air volume knob moved to the bottom of the handle, left handed painters can't bump the side mounted knob types. Made of Stainless Steel now due to "Water-Borne" paints, Amazon currently has a bright polished version with 4 tip sizes and actual air regulator for $88.95 now on 6/27/2024. It comes with the exact same features and carefully select the 4 needle version, fluid nozzle and air cap. Made in China of course. ASE Master, retired. P.S. I like your Yamaha ball cap.

    Hi Pete, this R500 has been my beginner sprayer for some time. I have did well with primers, metallics, candies, and clear. But was painting "things". But now that I'm going to be spraying a car (in separate panels), I felt I should get a better gun (iwata ws400 and obs tip as we discussed) . I was thinking to continue to use the r500 for primers and sealers. How would the product finishes be different, in your opinion (between r500 and iwata ws400)? Ps, I usually shoot R500 @29 psi. 31 psi for clear. Probably too high, but works for me.

  • @peteshobbies5383

    Hi Pete. After watching your video, I bought 4000b RP 1.3. I have a problem with setting it up. For the base I chose a pressure of 1.8-2.0 bar, and for clear 2.0-2.2 bar. Fan to the max, and material to the max. As for the base, I cannot pour it like a smooth mirror, it is not flat. Something like very delicate orange peel. As for clear, it pours out quite nicely, up close it has a mirror effect, but when you step away you can see a strong orange peel. I will be very grateful to You for your help. Because I'm slowly giving up xD

    Hi Mate, What distance are you from the work? Is the base waterbourn or solvent?, I use around 1.8 bar for base coat, no more, 2 bar for clear. There will normally be some peel on basecoats, clears should be relatively flat, remember, speed will also make a difference to the finish

    Most base coats are 50/50 mix,certainly for base coat I would turn the fluid down, around 2 1/2 turns out, distance around 150 to 175mm, it depends on the size of someones hand , a small hand would be closer than a big hand, that's why I normally give a distance measurement as it's more accurate. Hi Pete, great video as always and it was nice to see my Fuji being used again I know you said you had more videos of it so I've been penitently waiting for more to come out👌 I totally agree with you on the 1.3 in the Fuji as for some reason the cap can't seem to cope with the extra material it puts out I think they need to revisit the design of the cap that comes with the 1.3 which I think is the same as the 1.2 cap, you mentioned the longevity of the gun and the one you have is the older which must be 2 years old and I've had zero problems with it but as you say it's still a bit over priced for what it is🤔 The Porphis seemed to lay the base down a bit better which I think is due to the wetter pattern which is probably the reason the Fuji one looked a different colour as there was less paint on that panel, I'm rather impressed by these Porphis guns as they seem better value for money compared to most out there. I do realise that people look at me for guidance. At first, I was a little overwhelmed by how much influence I had, only being a small channel, but I've always said it as I find, now it doesn't feel such a responsibility, of course, not everyone will get on with a certain gun, it may be too much for what they want or too little, but for the most part it helps people which is one of the reasons I started the channel. • @peteshobbies5383
    @peteshobbies53836 күн бұрын

    Sounds like it is quite thin, so having too big a tip won't help, the 1.8bar they recommend isn't much of a guide. It will depend on the gun, on the 610, if you have it around 2.2 bar with a smaller tip, take the gun out to around 6" away, fluid on full, it will flow less with a smaller tip, you should get better results. Don't get disheartened. It can look easy sometimes, but it's not if you're new to the game. A peely finish on primer isn't a problem, you will normally sand it before base anyway, so just sand and prime again, I'm presuming you have a smaller tip?

Basedcoat has many variations, I mainly use solvent basecoat, the settings vary from 1.3 bar to 1.5bar, fluid anything between 2 1/2 and 3 out, I also hold the gun further away, for base around 175 to 200mm, for clear around 125 to 150mm

    Pete, I'm getting ready to spray the roof (and some other parts) of my son's Mazda 3. I wanted to look at the air consumption of the various caps, I know you've done this - and in a more complete manner, but it's another data point. Obviously, I'm not directly getting CFM, but also obviously, the lower the pressure at the gun, the higher the CFM. I set my wall regulator at 40psi. 25ft hose, high flow fittings. I recorded the pressure at the gun inlet at full trigger. TE10 - 23.5psi, TE20- 18.5psi, HV30 - 13.5psi. Meiji final force R - 29 psi, Dev FLG% 25psi. To get 29psi at the inlet on the HV30 I would probably have to set the wall regulator at 60psi (guessing, I didn't do that, but I do need to!)

    Hi Ken, it a good way of noticing how these guns and caps differ in air consumption. You will often hear me say the same when comparing guns. The HV30 is rated around 16.5 cfm , which is up there with the WS400 and Sata 5000 & 5500 HVLP, all air hogs

I’ll make a pass and get maybe 16” and it loses its prime re squeeze the trigger it will pick it back up then do it again. My fluid is set one turn in from wide open , fan is 1/2 to 3/4 turn in from full width , air at 28.5 PSI . Any ideas would be appreciated. If it was new and you kept it clean, I would certainly try using the Devilbiss cup, I doubt the clear is too thick for the filter but I think maybe the cup isn't collapsing like it should. You would get the same problem with a standard cup that has the air holes blocked at the top. You should find the fan even up as well, at the settings you are using the fan shouldn't be dryer in the middle, if everything is clean, that would normally mean too high a pressure of very thin material, either of which I don't think you have by the sounds of it. Let me know how you get on ✌️

    Hi Pete, I've discovered a strange phenomenon with using upol s2080 & s2086 clear coats, I've tried many attempts at mixing my filler ratios, I've tried different fillers, I've tried longer drying times & many sealers & primers, every time i paint over a repaired area, (only happens with white & lights colours) It has a horrible reaction with the filler beneath and stains my base & clear a horrible orange/ yellow colour, looks like someone's pissed on it. I've tried another brand of clear I had and it seems to have fixed my staining bleeding problem from the filler. Have you ever had a similar problem & do you have any recommendations on a Good brand of clear i could switch to? Regards

    Hi Mate, I hadn't had a problem , I rarely do whites, I sometimes do a couple of different Honda 3 stage pearlescent whites and haven't had a problem. I use Upol 2025 primer most of the time, normally leaving it till the next day for base and clear, although if it's a bumper corner on the car, it's just lamped for 30 minutes and ok to go depending on ambient temperature. The problem of clears on whites going yellow is often bought up, some clears seem to do it, others not, it also depends on the paint system as well. If you after a good clear that isn't too expensive, try the Kapci 6030, it's very good and not too expensive, I can't say it it will help with your particular setup but may be worth a try, you can get little 1 1/2 litre kits
