Hello everyone! We’re Shannon and Dave and we live part time in our Lance 825 truck camper with our new rescue pup, Hatch. We document our adventures across the country, and love helping fellow campers out by giving tours of the campgrounds we stay at, showing places worth adding to your bucket list, and giving step-by-step tutorials of projects we do to our truck camper.
If you’re interested in supporting our channel, consider joining our wonderful Patreon community! We enjoy giving back to our patrons by releasing sneak peeks of upcoming episodes, creating digital downloads of travel guides with exclusive tips & destinations we don’t show on KZread, holding Q&A’s to dive deeper into each episode, and more!
Or you can make a one-time donation to our gas fund so we can continue to show you the way we did it.
Thank you so much for watching our videos and all of your amazing support!

I am so happy for Hatch! And for you! Now he gets to have a fun life. Our last Shepherd was attacked and bitten twice by a big Malamute up in the Backcountry. That Dog was not on a leash. That and some little dogs that he met early on would try to attack him. This all led to him being scared and reactive to most other Dogs as well. He was awesome with kids and all people. These two we have now went to training and were socialized and it really makes a difference. They are more confident walking by barking Dogs. We were also advised that the Dogs don't need to meet other dogs on the street because you don't know what that Dog is like.
Thank you for sharing. We are so sorry to hear about the attacks. We’re glad your dogs now are doing well. Having a reactive dog is definitely challenging. But Hatch is growing more and more confident with every training session. We are so happy to be by his side to help him through it 💕
This warms my heart. So happy to see Hatch doing and adjusting so well. Exactly one year ago today we suddenly and unexpectedly lost our best buddy, Ace. Like Hatch is to you, he was our hiking, outdoors, day trip and overall furry best friend. We know he is exploring with his mom, Hussi, over the rainbow bridge and we look forward to all being back together someday. Please give Hatch a big hug today from us. 🐶🐶🐶💕💕💕🌈🌉
Dogs really are special ❤️ We are so sorry about Ace. We lost our sweet dog Biscuits back in 2020. He was our fur baby for 16 years, and we still miss him. Hopefully he’s made friends with your pups over the rainbow bridge as well. We are squeezing Hatch extra tight today 💕 Thank you for sharing.
So happy Hatch is doing well and thankful that he has such awesome care giver owners.
Thank you ☺️ we love Hatch so much and would do anything for him!
Happy that Hatch is doing better . He is cute . Thanks . I hope you both also have a great week ahead 💥
Thanks! We are so proud of him! He’s such a special dog 💕
Hi, Hatch! Looking forward to watching all of your adventures with your new pack. ❤

Hi, do you need to remove the truck bed tail gate to put on the camper or just leave the tail gate in a downward position? Thanks
Hello! We remove our tail gate to put the camper on.

Cool vid! What type of remote work do you do, if you dont mind.
Thanks! Dave does marketing freelance work, and I manage our KZread channel and do freelance photography editing.
Great Video! How is the Renogy batteries and solar holding up now that it has been a year? Looking to do upgrade to our 1999 Lance 1172.
Thanks! Overall our setup has been good. The Renogy batteries work perfectly, but if we were to do it again, we would invest in higher quality solar panels. We don’t think they are producing as much power as they should be. We may save up and upgrade to Renogy’s some day in the future. Good luck with your upgrade and safe travels!
Very, very nice video. I love the travel experiences you all do right here in the USA. Many blessings and be safe. ❤❤❤❤❤
Thank you! 🤗 we love discovering beautiful places right here at home.
Where is your dog? I so hope I’m wrong, it since you just posted this, with no dog, it would appear that you’ve already gave him up. If that is the case I’m appalled, disappointed, and will work to ensure that you your KZread efforts are toast.
Where is your dog?
Really need to see a current video of the dog you adopted.
Hatch is doing great, and has been on more camping adventures with us. The California trip should be the last one from before we adopted him 🐕 We love that everyone is such a fan of him! Safe travels!
BS. I am already assured that these two self serving people have gave up the dog. I’m sure the dog was too inconvenient for these two. Pathetic.
I’m betting these two self serving folks have already got rid of the dog.
They’ve ditches the dog.
As you overlooked Emerald Bay and drove around it, there was "Vikingsholm" down below (built 1929 by Mrs. Lora Josephine Knight, with lots of "imported" Scandinavian craftsmen)...you could see a little of its beach in front of the house (at 6:07). It's a California State Park now so it's open to the public. You get to it by private boat or party/tour-boat (hence its beach and docks for boats) or in your vehicle: You park above it in the parking lot (by Hwy 89) and hike down the winding 1-mile trail to the house. Then hike back up to the parking lot. Not too bad though as the "trail" is a wide dirt/access-road (off-limits to visitors' cars/trucks) so nothing extreme. Even so, going down the trail is easier than going UP it (500 ft in elevation). If not in good physical shape, do not attempt it (they warn you!). ;-) You could also see the tiny Fannette Island in the bay that she built a "Tea House" at the top of it (it's in ruins now though). IIRC, the falls were part of her property also. Happy Travels, -- BR
Oh wow! Thank you for all this info! There was still so much we didn’t get to see (like the other half of the lake!), this place is definitely added to our list for next time. Safe travels!
Lake Tahoe is such a beautiful area . I went out to Reno in 2004 for a bowling tournament so we had a day off so me and three friends rented a car and drove all around Lake Tahoe and other areas in Nevada . Was awesome . So nice I get to see the scenery again in your video . I'm sure you enjoyed it minus the gas prices .Yum chicken and dumplings is one of my favorite comfort foods especially when its cold out .
How awesome! I’m glad we were able to take you back to Tahoe. And that meal is definitely going to be our go-to on cold evenings. See you next time!
@@thewaywedidit Chicken and dumplings is an easy meal to prepare .
Please please speed up your speaking and no whining on the end of every word
Once again you nailed this video. The color of everything was beautiful and the quality of the video was very good. Thank you. See you next journey you take us on.
Thank you so much! ☺️ it was such a fun video to make. We’re glad you enjoyed it as much as we did!
What is the model of your Ford pickup truck? I’m from Brazil 🇧🇷
Hello!! Our truck is a 6.2L gas F250
Beautiful video. All your videos are beautiful though. Thank you
Thank you! 🤗🤗🤗
I appreciate the exploring you bring to us, keep up the good work !
Thank you!! ☺️ we’re so glad you enjoy our channel!

I miss Washington state.
Us too! It’s so beautiful 🥰
@@thewaywedidit I long ago lost count of my trips over the North Cascade Highway but it was a lot.
@@timthompson8297 how lucky! We would love to return to the Cascades. It’s such a special place.
@@thewaywedidit Yes, it really is. Many many miles of fantastic trails and places,to camp
Did this happen in June or July? I wish there were some info about general time of year when seasonality or snow pack is concerned.
We went the first week of June. We had trouble finding detailed info about when their winter closures typically are. Hopefully we can make it back out there one day and get some insider info from the rangers.
What month were you there? We plan on going sometime between October 24 and April 25
We were there the first week of June, which we thought would be late enough to see the whole park 😅 we hope you have a great trip!!! Just be sure to check the park’s website for current road conditions 😉
Matt's Off road Recovery?
Yes!!! We love that channel.
Thanks guys, I love the little thank you's 😹 Get hatch a treat on me 👊🏻
Thank you!!! 🤗🤗🤗 We appreciate your support so so much!!! And we will definitely get Hatch a special treat! 🐕
Where's the dog? Sorry can't remember his name!
His name is Hatch 🐕 And he’s doing great! This trip happened before we adopted him. I think the Tahoe one might be the last episode without him, so he’ll be back on the channel soon! Thanks for asking! 😊
I have no idea what KZread channel it is. Any hints?
If you’re ever stuck in Sand Hollow, “he’ll get you out.” (Let us know if you need another hint 🧐)
Matt’s off-road. We love watching his channel.
@@stacycook1905 Oooooh! I watch that channel sometimes. Pretty entertaining.
@@stacycook1905 yes!!!! We love his channel too!
Awesome video- I haven’t seen your dog in a while, hoping all is well
Thanks! Hatch is doing great! This trip happened before we adopted him. I think the Tahoe video will be the last one without him, so get ready for some cuteness coming your way!
I love all the parks you visit . They are incredibly interesting . You tell such a good story about the history of each park as you perusing from place to place . What memories you will have on youtube videos of all your trips . Hope you're have a wonderful day .
Thank you so much! We were just talking about that, how we have these unique video journals of our trips. Glad you enjoy them too!
You never stop impressing us with your journey! So serene but so motivating at the same time! 😎

Would be great if you guys would add what the cost of your projects are. Love your channel!
That’s a great suggestion! We’ll do that on future projects. Thanks!!
