    Are you able to stop and lock the cover part way? So instead of fully closing the cover, if you wanted to have it close only half way or with only 3” from closing completely, can you stop it at any position? And will it safely lock in place if you were to leave the vehicle?

    Just so those watching are aware... PVC is not a good choice for pressurized air. I see these air rockets popping up all over the place and it is only a matter of time before one of them explodes shooting PVC shrapnel everywhere. It is against code for plumbers to use pressurized air in any PVC system because PVC has two annoying properties. First is that it has a brittle fracture failure mode, so it explodes when it fails and second is that it degrades substantially over time, particularly when in the sun. So fresh PVC can hold a lot of pressure, but how do you know what the condition of they system is and when it will fail? I have seen warnings for these rockets popping up where they say to wrap the PVC in tape. I have no idea if this actual works or make it worse. I would love it if someone did exactly what you did, but instead of PVC, used a material that is rated to use with compressed air. It doesn't need to be as strong; it just needs to have a ductile failure mode so it will just leak instead of explode. Check out the link for more info. fluidairedynamics.com/blogs/articles/can-pvc-pipe-be-used-for-compressed-air

    I've watched several of these videos why don't people just measure the temperature in pool before and after dont think these work that good 20000 gallon pools maybe couple degrees more efficiently put on roof shingles or metal but think trying to heat a 15.000 gallon water heater with hose pipe laying in sun it would work good on smaller pool kiddies pool

    You need to be cautious about the extreme temperature and chemistry and also having stopped the flow without draining the system.i believe the max structural strength of the tubing degrades as temperature increases. You are going to go through more chemicals, the more stable the temperature the more stable your chemistry will be. Think higher velocity and continuous flow during daylight hours or draining the system when temperature is achieved.a simple vacuum breaker and three way valve should do it.

    What pump were you using to run the two 1/2" coils? I have a 9x20 Intex with a small sand filter pump... Im not thinking you recommend hooking them together? Am I thinking right that I should run the separately ? Please advise... And Ty

    if you would set that up by your fence and then also have mirrors on your fence so the sun bounces off and onto your heater, it would increase the temperature! Also as the water flows through, it captures heat energy. As long as the water doesn't reach the point where it's at the max temperature before it goes to the pool then thats okay. if it reaches max temp 3/4 through, then the last 1/4 of the system is doing nothing. Nice idea though. I wondered... if under the pipes, you'd have Styrofoam painted black, if that would be better. Now. The black tubes and wood are heating up by being black, that heat is transferring through the wood and escaping. If there is Styrofoam then it would heat the black paint and radiate back into that open space and not being sent into that wood. I could be wrong but I think it would possibly work better (higher temperature).

    You know this was a good initial concept a few years back. But with what today's products are and options I decided to opt for a tankless 8 gallon electric water heater and water transfer pump. Keep in mind the cost difference was only $100 more to go fully electric instead of solar materials needed for the project. The interesting thing is is I now get up to 150° on demand whenever needed however I still have yet to see what the electric bill is. I had to go with the electric heater just because I never know what the weather is going to be and overcasting scenarios. I like the convenience of getting hot water on demand. Me watching these videos allowed me to uncover my new 2.0 electric water heater process and after an hour of installation it works flawlessly. I'm not saying it's for everybody but do your own research.

    Don't cover the collector. It's a myth! For pool collectors where the pool water is about the same or typically lower than the roof temperature, such glazing insulation will actually prevent warm roof air from transferring to the pipes, but secondly about 10-15% of sunlight is reflected back into space by the surface of any glazing material. So you lose that much straight off the bat and then there are the potential overheating issues. Keep it simple don't glaze it, you'll get a better result.

    Nice video filled with good tips & trix. I'm setting up a solar powered pool heater right now and my goal is 30°C / 86°F in the pool. I'm starting with 250 meters / 820 feet of 20 mm / ¾ inch PEM hose in a flat rooftop setup. A 20V rainwater barrel pump (2,000 liters - 528 gallons / hour) will be connected directly to a solar panel, so it's a completely automatic system controlled and powered by the sun. No sun = no pump = no heating. Since I'm located at 60° latitude in the northern hemisphere, I'll guess it'll be some problems and math to solve along the way, but it'll be fun. Keep up your good work

    Hello. Thanks for the video. Question: on the video the cut list is different from the attached via GitHub - Wood Plywood Knots. Can you double check? Because I'm trying to build by your docs and see some strange dimensions. For example: *A* part is a dresser side and written 1 feet and 3 inch BUT the internal drawer has a length of 1 feet 4 1/2 inch which bigger than side. Maybe I'me mistaken but I'm using your files. Do you have 3-d model with attached A,B,C,D parts with explanation? Thanks a lot.

    I built similar set up with copper. I found the first few feet heated water to temp and the majority of the pipe could not absorb any heat. I went with a 2 inch pipe on top of frame work for more heat transfer. Hot plastic leaches toxins as well. Experiment with lower flow got hotter but put way less heat into pool. Higher flow rate would capture more heat.

  • @cambrosn
    @cambrosn8 ай бұрын

    You did do it wrong yourself. It would be a much more efficient heater if you're two loops ran in parallel instead of series. The output water wouldn't be as hot, but you'd have more flow. The most efficient heat exchanger is actually when the difference between heat source and coolant is the greatest. Not when the difference between input and output is greatest.

    surprising it really made a difference in the water temperature. it took 2 days of heating up because of cloudy days but once the sun stayed on it for a few hours straight it began to work.

  • @404-Error-Not-Found
    @404-Error-Not-Found9 ай бұрын

    From a physics perspective you actually want the water pumping through as fast as possible, regardless of how hot it's coming through at the end. You don't care about what temp it's coming out, you care about how efficiently the heat transfer is taking place. Letting it linger, reduces efficiency. The better efficiency you have, the hotter and hotter faster your pool will be.
