    it looks like you used magnesium powder with the oxidant as kn03 you got that light flash effect because kno3 is a weak oxidizer and the reaction was slow

    Because they are known for getting water in the hull and getting water logged. It’s shame because they were a great entry level boat

    @@jetlee7743 I have since purchased one. I now know first hand how they ride. They're incredible boats for flats fishing/backwater. I can cruise in about 1ft of water. Performance does suffer in chop and becomes a very wet ride. As little as 15mph wind chop can make it a little uncomfortable. I love it for fishing and calm days but if I could do it over I would have went with a v-haul with more deadrise, and likely not a Carolina Skiff because most don't have enough deadrise imo. I think price would play a role as well though. Sometimes you can find these for a really good deal.

    I've since learned you can do it in the oven. About 350F and let it "slump" and it won't char the label. Takes several hours and then just shut the oven off and let it cool down slowly. (i.e., don't open the oven) In total about 24 hours. But this just produced a "flat" bottle, not the same as I was going for in this vid.

  • @fredfrenchy
    @fredfrenchy7 жыл бұрын

    Thanks - Does it bend much or can you control the bend if it is laid on some supports, like pins/metal tabs or such? also another problem with oven is it may not be big enough for 350mm x 760mm glass panes. I do have some smaller paynes so could try them

    This stuff works wonders. However, one must be careful when using it along the outside of a boat, especially on any color, because fading WILL occur. If it doesn't come off with just a light rub, stop and make sure its not causing a fade mark. Don't press too hard, take your time and use a light rubbing action. If you do experience some fading a quick rub-on rub-off wax will help, but it may require some buffing and the end.

  • @7150285

    ***** is it because there's no barrel in the powerhead? Otherwise a .357 magnum from a revolver regardless what kind of bullet it has it will penetrate that 2x6 with no problem

  • @robp.7594
    @robp.759410 жыл бұрын

    It is partially the no barrel thing but the biggest factor is that the water robs the energy so fast.

  • @7150285
    @715028510 жыл бұрын

    ***** well if the bullet (cartridge) is already an inch or less away from the wood, it shouldn't matter because it's not like you're shooting from above water surface into water or shooting underwater and trying to hit a target yards away.

    you may get less thermal shock if you put a heat lamp above and below the bottle so the whole thing is hot to start then you could turn off the propane with less fear of it cooling too fast.

    you don't need to. You need one of those bottles (like the old sobes) with a little ratchet shaped indentation on the bottom. You put a nail in the corner and whack it with a hammer, harder and harder, until it knocks the inside out of the corner of that little dimple.

    i did lampwork in highschool and cracking seemed to be a recurring theme if there was any air getting to it. rather than just a vacuum, i bet this woulda been a cake-walk if you buried the bottle in some sand to absorb the heat. it may take longer, but it would cool MUCH slower allowing you to put the hole in it, and not have hairline cracks. i looked up your video while thinking of plans for my day of the dead tequila bottle bong.
