This is a FAD (Fish Attracting Device) that I launched Feb 2013. This video was shot four days after the launch, and even though no fish are visible in the video, they were showing up on the sonar. The FAD consists of a 6" PVC sewer pipe filled with Shipping peanuts. (Because I didn't make it water tight) It has a rope bridle that keeps it held horizontal in the water column and another rope and anchor that keeps it 20 feet off the bottom in a 40 ft water depth. Secured to the pipe is a tarp that "flutters" in the current with three 3 ft pieces of reflective tape streaming off that. (The reflective tape hopefully attracts wahoo when the water gets much warmer. It's a technique I just recently learned, so giving it a try.) All in all, a cheap way to put together a fad but we'll see how well it works in a little while.
