How do I reduce the current/water flow from the filter? Is there a way to do so with the e900? I believe the current is too strong for my fish to properly swim. Thank you.
Brilliant help. Thanks.

I have the u2 one but how do you get it to flow from the top and bottom jets as mine is only one at a time
I recently moved into a (rented) House The front and Back Garden looked awful . Basically weeds and moss etc ONLY. I cut out as many weeds by hand as possible and filled the Holes with new soil. Then i bought some Grass seeds with fertiliser and sprinkled it all over . Grass started growing where i filled the holes with new soil. But looked horrible. Last week i bought Evergreen and tried this. Within days everything on my lawn turned from Black into dust !! I wish i left it the way it was
Was the grass wet or had it just been cut when you put the treatment on it?
@@pondguru I moved it a day before and watered it after i put evergreen on
@@frankw9836 I usually apply it 3-4 days after mowing and on a dry day then I leave it a good 2-3 days before watering it in. I've had times when it has gone black but that's normally either when the moss all dies (and I rake it out) or when I walk on the grass after using the treatment on slightly wet grass or when I put too much treatment on. Now I only use it late in the day on a dry day then I stay off it for a few days and hope for rain to water it in. I always use a spreader now too since it's easy to add too much. I used to use a rotating spreader but it flung the particles too far and stained the drive and patio.
@@pondguru thanks for your reply. I raked all the dead stuff out , ordered some grass seeds and went from there
@@frankw9836 That's the way to do it - best of luck restoring the lawn.
I bought this little canister from Oase just a month ago. It now has the hanger which I think ought to be included with the filter. I also switched the hose clamps out for the traditional metal clamps. I have mine on a 10 gallon long tank and I am using the spray bar which I had to cut down to fit my tank. I also used SeaChem Matrix instead of the media provided. I do like this filter. It does what I want it to do. It is quiet and I don’t have to clean it that much. I also wanted to get rid of my HOB filter as the flow was just wrong for this particular tank. I will try your suggestion for setup to see if I like it better. All that said, this filter is pricey, but this was the only little canister I could find that would fit my tank and it wasn’t as pricey as others in this range. The setup is easier if you use traditional hose clamps and they hold the hoses better. I don’t think it is that hard to clean and as I said I don’t have to clean it often. In my case my tank is on a bar and I can set the little canister on the end with it setup for the flow to be the length of the tank. The size of HOB that I needed would not work on the end of the tank like this filter does. Again, for the right tank and situation, I think this is a good little filter. In the US the All Pond Solutions HOB 500 is $52 and the Oase is $59 so the price difference isn’t that much. Also the HOB500 is longer and did not for my tank. So be sure you look at the size of the filters when buying for a specific tank.
That is good to hear - thanks for the great report and best of luck with the tank.
Hi Richard looking for some advice regarding the video on pimping my fx6 the sponges don't all line up with one another dose this matter thanks again
(my other channel) It doesn't matter if they don't fit together perfectly as long as they both fit into the outer parts of the filter.
Are the mega foam filter pads available in the U.S.?
(my other channel) I get these foams specially made for me so as far as I know nobody else sells anything like this. I've sent plenty of these foams all over the world and international shipping is no problem - I have them on the FilterPro website http;//www.filterpro.co.uk For some reason any foams which are bumpy seem to be almost impossible to get from US suppliers whereas in the UK that's what we've used for decades as foam for pond filters. It is very strange.
I picked up a unit on eBay for $25 USD and it looks good to me! I think I scored 😂
(my other channel) That's a price you can't argue with - best of luck with the tank.

I have a 600l aquarium with Mbuna Cichlids and I am thinking of purchasing one of these beasts to replace an oase 850T which is just not powerful enough. I have enough width/depth space to accomodate it in the cabinet but is 62cm height space enough clearance for the hoses? Thanks :)
(my other channel) That should be OK since the in / out fittings are angled and the height of the filter is approx. 50cm as far as I can remember but it would be worth checking with Aquael for the exact dimensions.
I was looking into this as I was running a biotherm 850 & 250 & while they're good I wasn't completely happy with them, I have family that live in Poland so got the Hypermax 4500 link, as well as the dual outlets it has 2x 150w heaters built-in and app control & all I can say is wow!!! If they can incorporate the same tech into their smaller filters they'd literally take over the filtration market, basically 2 filters in 1 & 2 heaters built-in... this imo is now the benchmark in filtration and how all external filtration should be it really is phenomenal!! Runs silent, heats up well & the flow rate is 2nd to none, well done Aquael (I put a short video of it in operation on KZread but it's crappy so my apologies 😂)
(my other channel) Thanks for the great report - it is very important and feel free to post a link to your video here. Best of luck with the tank.

Got this new in box from thrift store for 5 dollars Great filter i put it in my 15gal column tank and does great, crystal clear, plants seem to like it also ,, my neon tetras give it a good rating
$5 is the deal of the century - great to hear that you got the filter for so little money and I wish you the best of luck with the tank.
I've just got this filter, can I just state the instructions do say not to fill the top tray. So yes you. Can maybe best leave empty or a very thin foam
That's why I put the media in the top tray into mesh bags - the pump is very powerful so could potentially suck foams or loose media into it (which would probably break the impeller in the pump). It seems like a shame to waste that space.

A class goal from my son James in the 2024 play-off final. He beat 4 players before lobbing the keeper from 35 - 40 yards. Loughborough Students demolished Skegness Town with a 7 goal hammering and a great team performance - this was the final goal (in extra time) which capped a great afternoon for the team who had 7 different scorers. Goals were scored by Edwards, Spiteri, O'Toole, Wicks, Bangura, Morales and Thew. Everyone connected with the club has worked so hard this season and this is the reward. Unfortunately I couldn't be there to see the game but from the clips James sent me all the goals were bangers. Well done lads and best of luck in your new division.
Just a quick video to say that the 'Mega Foams' are back in stock. www.filterpro.co.uk ('Foams' page) Since they are specially made for me they take ages to get from the date of order to the date of delivery but I've got hundreds available now. The speed the first stock sold out took me by surprise so apologies if you've been waiting a while for them to come back into stock. Added to this, I've bagged some of the popular types of Biohome media up into large mesh bags for use in sumps or XL canister filters. I've also got small mesh bags of Biogravel available on the 'Biohome Media' page of the FilterPro website www.filterpro.co.uk Media and mesh bags are available separately on the FilterPro site if you want to fill your own. Best of luck with your tanks and thanks for watching.
Jesus Christ love you
The foams look great.
Yes, they are very different from anything else available and it took a good while to find a supplier who could get the design of the high bumps and deep valleys while maintaining structural integrity (and long life). I'm very pleased with them.
Thanks for your usual efforts this filter is better than eheim 2080 XL it is made of good solid plastic.
Yes, the plastic is good quality and the design is great too - they really have produced a winner here.
Would this be to powerful for a 260 litre? Thank you
Assuming that the tank is a standard rectangle design it will be fine as far as flow goes. However, the filter does not hold much media (very few internal filters do) so it would still be better for decent sized tanks if you're wanting to achieve a full Natural cycle.
@@pondguru thanks, does the outflow adjust at all?

The filter sponge material in your link do not have the ribbed side. Does it matter?
All the foam I sell on the FilterPro site is bumpy on one side and flat on the other so I'm a bit confused here - please can you send a link to what you're seeing to [email protected] ?

Hi there! I love your video and i already watched it at least 10 times. I got myself fluval edge aquarium and it looks gorgeous. Im wondering if there is a possibility of instaling surface skimmer to the inlet of this filter. I am running put of space as i got myself quite wide heater and tropica nano co2 system and i dont think i have any wall space left. Any advice for me ?
I'm not sure that the edge filter would accept a surface skimmer as I'm not familiar with that filter. If you can go external (HOB or canister) you could have more filtration than you could ever need but I'm not sure that the edge aquariums would accept anything other than the built-in filter.
it's very rare to find the exact video I need, but this is one of them. thanks for the info :)
Good one - I'm glad that you found the video to be useful. Thanks for watching.
If you hold pumas under water it will eventually draw water
Pumas as in the big cats? Some clarification would be good....
@@pondgurumy mistake I meant pumice(the stone).
@@lastproductionstudio (my other channel) That makes sense now, thanks - since the pumice stone has lots of sealed bubbles inside it the chances of it being porous enough to draw water into the interior is slim. You could be lucky and get decent quality pumice but since it is a natural rock every piece is different. I featured a good quality pumice in the video I did ages ago looking at different types of media under a microscope - the video is called 'Looking inside filter media' so it would definitely be worth watching that before deciding what to put in the filter.
Do you know if these are still available in the uk? Unfortunately none of the links work 😢
Unfortunately I have no idea - at the time of making a video I put the relevant links into the video description and pinned comment but the links can change within a few days or weeks of upload - and I can't keep up with all the changes on 1000+ videos which is a real bummer as I like to be as relevant as possible. I can confirm the new inlet tube is like swiss cheese now, do you guys think these are ok for 350litre community tank ? Bit concerned about the low flow
For a 350 community tank it will handle that no problem as long as you upgrade the filter as outlined in this video - with the foam only set up it's pretty much useless for larger tanks (and the mass of foams causes problems with air discharge). The flow isn't really an issue since the set up of the filter is way more important than the turnover rate. It's good to see that Oase have (finally) upgraded the pre-filter pipe ..... it only took them 3 years, lol
Where to buy the pomp in US ?
As I'm in the UK I can't offer any sellers of the pump or any sort of substitute as I don't deal with any US distributors. If you search hydroponic suppliers you may find something similar.

Dear Mary, My website is www.filterpro.co.uk and the kits for Biorbs are on the 'Filter Kits' page. Regards, Richard
Aquael generally have a good robust build . This one is a beastie. Not sure I like the style but if it's what you're looking for. . Function wise then there ya go.
I'm not too enamored by the design but the function of it is in no doubt. A monstrous monster.
Love your channel and your practical easy to follow advice and info. Thank you. I have several filters on my small pond (1500 gallons) that I inherited and I am slowly upgrading/modifying. The Oase filtoclear 8000 was left in sad state and hadn't been cleaned or maintained for several years. I changed the UV tube, and would now like to attack the foams filter media. 2 queries: 1) The foams are extremely expensive for what they are. are you aware of any replacement/generic foams that you might recommend? I am in the US. 2) Wondering, since I have significant easy to clean mechanical filtration elsewhere, if I could simply put a few nylon zippered filter bags filled with either K1 or one of your filter media in place of the foams, and then only gently use the handle to clean on a regular basis. Your thoughts would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Seth
Dear Seth, In the UK there are a nation of generic replacement foams for the Filtoclear filters but I'm not sure about the US availability unfortunately. The design of the filter doesn't make it suitable for adding any filter media into it since the action of pumping the handle up and down moves the foams inside the filter. If there was any media inside with the foams there is a good chance it would cause damage to the foams or the central mesh tube. Regards, Richard
@@pondguru Thank you for the speedy reply. It's unfortunate, as I've searched high and low for the generic replacement foams, with no results. Could you replace the phones with a light media in nylon bags, k1 or bioballs, for instance? Assuming making sure that only a very light touch is used with the handle? Really appreciate you taking the time. Have a great weekend. Seth
@@sethfischer5333 Unfortunately I think that a spell-checker has ruined that question as it doesn't make sense.
@@pondguru odd, as it reads fine on my side, but thanks for the response. Was commenting that there don't appear to be any available generics in the US. Recognizing that we want to be very careful with the center tube, I was curious if you thought several small nylon bags with k1 or bioball media might work I still be able to be agitated with a pump action.
@@sethfischer5333 I wouldn't add anything in there other than the foams since there is very little spare room and anything which could damage the foams will result in the foams wearing prematurely. I've read back the comment I couldn't understand and I think it was the 'phones' where 'foams' was meant to be and 'Assuming making sure that only a very light touch is used with the handle?' confused me as I forgot we were talking about a pond filter, lol - I answer so many questions every day that I get mixed up with them.
I managed to pimp my pond filter, by upgrading my retro vortex, by adding a second hand Draco drop in drum filter, no more filter floss for me 👍 great video mate, if I had a tank, that's what I'd have.
Good one - that was sensible upgrade.

Should I get this or the old school eheim 1500xl that you also did for a 180 gallon tank?
The Hypermax is a very good filter and way easier to maintain due to the pre-filter which the 1500XL doesn't have. However, the Eheim filter will hold more media. What are you stocking in the tank?
@@pondguru the plan is 41 fish in 180 gallon (peacock cichlids and haps). The 1500xl or hypermax as he bulky filter but I plan on having two seachem 110 tidals on it as well. Or use the canister filter I already have that's a marineland magniflow 360
@@pondguru what do you think? I replied the stock I'm planning
@@MichaelTilly-df4rf (my other channel) Sorry, I didn't get the first comment through but this one did come through - the messaging system on KZread has been broken for a long time. As 180 US gallons equates to over 680 litres that would require somewhere in the region of 14-15kg of media if you're trying to achieve a full cycle on the tank. Either of the canister filters will hold enough media when combined with the 2 x 110 filters on the back of the tank but it could be easier and more efficient (and much cheaper to run) to get the tank built to accept a sump and run that under the tank - you'd get way more media than you could ever need in there, it would be much easier to maintain and cost less to run than 3 separate filters. If you've already got the 110 filters and are looking for a big canister instead of a sump then the Aquael filter would be the obvious choice just because of how easy it is to maintain. However, as you're in the US (I'm assuming, since you're using gallons instead of litres) I'm not sure what the spares situation is like for Aquael over there. Check that out before making any decision.
@@ThousandYardStare thank you so much
Two of the in daisy chain, the first one comes from the tank full of sponge then linked from the outlet to the inlet to the second one full of bio which then goes back to the tank, you could even run the tank off the second one, just take out the impeller in the first one
That is one way of setting up filters and if it is working for you it's all good.
