I'm no 'expert' and we all are on a long path of learning.......use your own common sense to see what is true and what is nonsense.

@Pondguru not sure I can word my comment in a simpler way to get my point across clearer, if your saying politicians have fake agendas over climate issues i would agree ther politicians after all, but if your denying man made climate change that's just factually wrong , the vast majority of peer reviewed papers and the concencous of experts in the respective fields acknowledge this , I don't get my scientific information from any media if that's what you wher implying by "mainstream media" as a source, im curious who your source for the " documents and evidence " are ? , as I will gladly read them if you post a link or reference, my epistemology is to go with the concencous of experts wether thats a plumber , mechanic or science and not outliers in the field that seems rational to me anyway

You Mr. Pondguru r a genius! I have ordered & used yur biohome small rocks for aquariums, small ponds. Ive gotten much older now & an aquarium is for the younguns these days. I would have gone crazy for the likes of these Biorocks & not being so heavy. I have watched u for years & never grow tired of yur content. Yur a goodman with great ethics, ideas, & heart which seems to be rarer than ever. Im from Texas USA. Yur one of my most favorite people. U given me inspiration to enjoy fish again. See if I can coax one of the grandkids to try & Ill get the stuff for them. LOL

I didn't come up with the idea for these rocks - that was Michael who makes the media. It seems to have garnered some real interest so it will be available on the FilterPro site soon. I will make a video when it is available and on the FilterPro website but Don at Greatwave Engineering will also have it available from there and will be cheaper than ordering from the UK if you're in Texas. I wish I was in Texas as it's freezing cold today.

They do look really natural and attractive - plus they are perfectly porous and will naturally support a nation of beneficial bacteria.

Wow, would be cool to shape these like the Ada unzan stone!

Looks real promissing! Hope the shapes of the rocks will get better, I do not like hat most of them hae a flat side currently. Those are very useful to use as the base of a structure and help with scaping but for the upper part of scapes pieces with no flat sides are preferred.

This looks great for adding a natural rock formation in a tank to give interest,height and hiding places and instead of taking away from the aquarium environment its adding to the overall full cycle. I like it. What size of tank were you demonstrating it in?

I am very interested! This stuff looks great. Is there any maintenance to it? Do you have to clean the Biorock periodically? Do the pores get clogged? Will bacteria colonize in there helping water quality?! (I am a current Biohome customer)

If you do feel the need to clean it just bake in a hot oven for an hour or so, just as you'd do with Biohome media. I'd imagine that 99% of people won't bother cleaning it since it will so easily colonize with plants / corals.

Anyone ever tried those clay balls that pot growers use as filter media. Looks like the same stuff as the bio pellets you sell but different shape?

It goes under many names and is often used for hydroponics. It doesn't make for a very good filter media as most of the structure is sealed. However, when compared to many of the cheap ceramic rings they compare quite well and are every cheap. Go for the knobbly types of clay growing media as opposed to the smooth types of clay balls as the smooth type have very limited available surface area..

It was approx. 15kg and was made up of 3 mixed colours. I left the last colour in the box to show what size box the 5kg amount would be. I will make a video when it is available and on the FilterPro website, no worries.

Michael who makes the media for me has some listed on Ebay currently but I'm waiting until later this month to list it on my FilterPro website.

The question Richard is how to ship this to Dubai? Haha. It's really a big imptovement over the initial "flat rock". Looks really nice, Anubias and the like would love to get attached in that 😀

I run my tanks with Biohome Ultimate - a great product, I can only recommend it - the competition compares very badly 😉 Here's an idea for the rock material: Can the (un)sintered material also be pressed into shapes? I'm thinking of the typical scaping stones, dragonstone, miniature landscape,... Many greetings from Germany 🇩🇪

I'm glad the media is working well for you and best of luck with the tank. Potentially it could be made in specific shapes using a press of some sort but that's something for the future. Yes as it essentially does the same job as live rock. However, it is a much more consistent porosity when compared to live rock and it will not have the risk of bringing anything harmful (e.g. Bristleworms) into the system.

wha wha?? Can I get this in plates? I have a hydroponic greenhouse. Looks like each piece has a flat spot. Are you going to make any that don't have flat spots? I like the brown color of the BH Marine, but will this affect my fresh water planted tank? do you have a version in the brown color for FW tanks?

The 'marine' version will be fine in fresh water as the added trace elements are fused into the structure and available as catalysts - they're not there to condition the water. I'm assuming that you're in the UK so phone me regarding the plates or any other shapes - if it's something you could experiment with and give feedback on that would be great. (my other channel) mineral cat litter is essentially crushed pumice so makes for a decent filter media / substrate although in the raw form many pieces will float. It's essentially what seachem sells as 'denitrate' but they use a poor quality densely structured grade of pumice rock for their 'media' hence all the gray / black waste rock in with it. With regard to the Biorock we really could do with a testing period before making it widely available so I will be contacting people who may be interested in doing that for their KZread channels with no obligation, no payment and only the goal of having unbiased true feedback which can be shared with viewers.

@@weemac1956 If you're using it under the visible substrate then it would work well in small mesh bags. That also allows you to easily remove it if you are re-scaping the aquarium. Loads of people use the Biogravel for that as it is a much better media than pumice or standard gravel for supporting anaerobic activity - I'm assuming that you're wanting to set up safe anaerobic zones n the substrate?

Been running for along long time with no fish at least two month due to me having heart failure I am on the mend slowly but can’t get much done will the filter media be ok will I have to get new bio home thanks again I know you are very busy guy thanks eric

(my other channel) Dear Eric, I hope you get better soon. With regard to the media if it has been sitting in manky water or left out of the tank / filter it will need to be sterilised by baking it in a hot oven for an hour or so prior to reuse. However, if it has been in an operational filter on a tank which is working but unoccupied by fish the media will still be fine - it may benefit from a small kick from a bacterial additive (any will do) but if it's been running all the time while you've been out of commission the bacteria will fire up very quickly when you start adding fish. Stock lightly every 2-3 weeks until you reach the full stock to allow the filter to develop in line with the stock and it will be fine. Best of luck with the tank and your recovery. Regards, Richard

@@ThousandYardStare ah ok, it looks very interesting I have a marine tank that runs just live rock and fish I do want to add coral in the future this tank has about 8 kg of live rock I did have a 5ft tank but I downsized to a 3ft. I don’t know if you remember I spoke in the phone last year about an overflow box (from Gateshead) I would be very interested in this especially if the marine biorock can have coral attached?

If you search for Biohome Biorock on ebay it will come up direct from the manufacturer. I haven't got it on the website as it is best coming straight from the manufacturer to save multiple postage costs an double handling.

Have purchased this today in Brown. You mentioned that the Brown colour is good for marine as it has trace elements in it. Would this affect my planted freshwater setup ?

@@ianscott1812 The trace elements in the red and brown are mostly common to each other so there will be many trace elements in the brown (marine) version which will be used as catalysts by freshwater bacteria. Neither of the different colours will make a difference to plants since the trace elements are fused into the structure of the media (to act as catalysts for bacterial processes) and are not there to alter the water chemistry.

The Biorock will be initially sold in 5kg amounts of the same colour so a mix of colours would be made up of multiple 5kg amounts. However this may change in the future.

It is quite rough but so is much of the rock used in aquariums. I'd say it would be less suitable for delicate fish (e.g. Discus) compared to marine use for that reason.

@@brianwatt8927 (my other channel) As long as it is used for normal rock structures it will be fine but if it was covering a large part of the base then that would restrict the usable area the corydoras could use. The 'rock' is very rough (abrasive) so it would ultimately be more suited to saltwater or cichlid use.

Just checked the provided link as I'd like to buy 40lbs of this stuff, and there's NOTHING listed!!!
