Hi. I don't know their exact age. They are still babies as they are still being hand fed and being taught to feed themselves.

I’ve also found one. I am hand feeding it pet mince & any insects I can find in the garden. My question is what next ? How do you teach them to catch, eat, fly? I’m taking mine for walks outside but I’m not sure what to do. What did you do @mrsbirdlady

How many times a day do you feed them . We have one about 6 weeks old and is spoon feed but he only eat a little bit then stops. His crop isn't full . Then about an hour later he wants more. He is just starting to crack seed

G'day, I've recently had a seemingly young Adelaide rosella that has 'adopted' my family in a sense, over the last week we've built a relationship with it and it's been coming inside and perching on our heads etc as we feed it. Not much bigger than the birds depicted here, with plenty of ruffled feathers and a sociable, yet temperamental disposition. Have you got any advice regarding do's and don'ts in a situation like that?

The Noongar people tell a charming story about how, in the Dreaming, the wagtail was a great hunter who was one day robbed of his catch by the crow and the dingo. They say that the wagtail never forgot this crime, which is why it still angrily attacks crows and dogs much bigger than itself

Babies eat special insectivore powder mixed with pet mince. Roll it into a small ball, the size of a fingernail and dip it in water, then put it in its mouth. Or you could give it soaked puppy biscuits until it is older. If in doubt take it to a vet.

Found a baby fledgling today , I left him alone so his parents could find him, but I bought him inside tonight coz cats next door ,I fed him minced heart dipped in water and now I'm here coz I need to learn how to help him.

  • @mrsbirdlady

Hi Donna, Cuckoo Shrike's are very fussy eaters (see my description below the video). You will have to try it with a variety of foods. This bird likes corn kernels, cucumber cut into pieces. See: www.birdcare.asn.au/pdf/bifcus.pdf I hope this helps. To encourage it to eat, put meat mix, sweet corn and peas into a small bowl and top with live mealworms. They seem to like the bright colours of the peas and corn and the movement of the mealworms will encourage them to become inquisitive and peck at the food. Good luck. Von

@@mrsbirdlady Thankyou for your kind helpful reply,I got up at 4.30 and fed him. Then I took him outside where I found him and when I heard him calling and getting agitated in the cage I put him on a branch ,I kept an eye on him but about 6 am he had disappeared , I hope he reunited although I can't be sure ( I went to the loo.) I heard a bird that sounded like a cuckoo shrike when I released him . So I hope he's ok.

Hi Anver. Feed the ducklings Chick Starter in water or if you can't get it give them crumbled up Weetbix in water. DO NOT feed them bread. Bread is bad for birds. Read this info: www.raising-ducks.com/feeding-ducklings/
