Possums are lactose intolerant and need specialised milk substitutes. Wombaroo Possum Milk is recommended as it is designed specifically for baby possums.
Possums are marsupials. Marsupials are an infraclass of mammals living primarily in the Southern Hemisphere; a distinctive characteristic, common to most species, is that their baby is carried in a pouch.
Like most possums, the common brushtail possum is nocturnal. It is mainly a folivore, but has been known to eat small mammals such as rats. In most Australian habitats, leaves of eucalyptus are a significant part of the diet but rarely the sole item eaten. The tail is prehensile and naked on its lower underside. There are four colour variations: silver-grey, brown, black and gold.
It is the Australian marsupial most often seen by city-dwellers, as it is one of few that thrive in cities, as well as a wide range of natural and human-modified environments. Around human habitations, Common Brushtails are inventive and determined foragers with a liking for fruit trees, vegetable gardens, and kitchen raids.
Baby possums like to ride on their Mums back. But, unfortunately, if Mum gets spooked, they sometimes drop their baby. This is the main reason baby possums come into care. If you find an injured or sick native animal please contact your local wildlife rescue group. These volunteers are trained to care for native species.

Malcolm is a sweetie oh he really is . How old is he Von and how has he come to you ... ? Good job people like you are on hand and know what to do ... The family is growing Lucy, Daisy , Malcolm :-)

Hi Helena. It is an old video that I just came across. Malcolm came to us last Christmas. He is about 4 months old in this video. We have since passed him on to another carer who eventually released him. You're right! Our family is continually growing. But I love them all (*◡*)

HelenaMikas Hi Helena. The baby stays inside its mother’s pouch for about four or five months. This one must have just come out for a ride on Mum's back and probably fell off. Check out Wikipedia en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Common_brushtail_possum . Have a nice day. Von (◠‿◠)
