Yeah I agree. AA is the best choice. I tend to prefer the diameter for pocket carry over an 18650 flashlight.

This video seems like the reviewer was being paid to say these things or given this flashlight for free because there were no critical comments or subjective opinions. I doubt this thing is totally perfect, so to me that's not honest reviewing. If I just want to hear how awesome it is, I can go watch the Fenix company videos. Secondly, why does the beam look so yellow in some shots? I had read comments about this elsewhere but thought maybe they just got a one-off lemon. Can anyone else verify the tint color of the LED on this light? That's really the only thing that would keep me from buying one.

I appreciate your honesty but I disagree on the mode sequence change to be challenging. It seems pretty straightforward. Whether do you do the 5X half tap or the 9X full taps. Either way once it’s done it’s done. You don’t have to do that again so how annoying could it possibly be? No big deal imo. Regarding more powerful flashlights of similar size, I would have to agree with you. I’m guessing the draw of this particular light is its simplicity.
How does this light compare to a basic streamlight gun light ?

No IT IS NOT THE BEST LANTERN FROM FENIX. I have one. I like it, but I cannot stand they branded their name right on the white portion of the lantern and try turning it on with one hand, not too easy as it you have turn the dial. Much harder than a push button. Again, I like it, but was disappointed. Bad design choices in my sense.

Both of my HM61R V2.0 has a mix of red/green when charging with the magnetic charger. Anyone else? Don't think it's charging.

I miss the copper accent tbh. If your camera has that color recorded accurately and the beam has a hotspot like shown at 2:24, then no thanks. The V2 lets you easily read labels and manuals/books etc if you hold it back slightly and high is bright enough to see far enough to take out the trash or keep tabs on my sister's dogs are over and they go out at night. While the magnet is nice, this seems like a few steps backwards. And I wish companies would let me choose between always starting with low and remembering last setting used. Btw you move the light with every syllable and it's super distracting.

I have 3 AA powered: Olight i5tEOS, Fenit WT20R and Fenix HP16R. For some reason, all the fishermen i know want 3xAAA, no 2xAA headlamps. I guess they are cheap and willing to pay only 10 euros for the flashlight.... My 4xAA Fenix HP16R is a monster. Its not lightweight but its comfortable enough, with a huge throw for a headlamp. And 4xAA or ni-mh will last forever in low level flood. I owned an AA Nitecore headlamp but the ratcheting system never lighted where i needed, it was too low or too high. It needed more little steps.
MT20A and HA11 have been very good to me. I even had to get HA11's for some family members. They get the job done, even if you own 21700 lights. Very portable and lightweight for backup lights.
And can someone explain using the example of Fenix E12v2 and E20v2, which are powered by AA batteries. E12v2 glows for about an hour with a power of 160lm. But E20v2 shines for over 5 hours with a power of 150lm. Yes, this is real data - I have both. It seems that in practice, a single AA flashlight is not a waste of energy. Apparently, increasing the voltage causes large energy losses. Unless something else has an influence.
Theoretically, the E12v2 should be half as bright on one battery as the E20 on two. However, this is not to the detriment of e12v2.
I own the Fenix E20 V2 and it's amazing how much run time it has in the low and medium modes and its also the most compact 2AA on the market. I have a few other 2AA flashlights and they dont have such efficiency. The LED is an SST20 I believe which is a really efficient LED, they must have made a really efficient driver for it. One thing to note is that when you draw the same current from two different battery sizes it's not the same power consumption. A larger battery will last exponentially longer not creating as much heat loss in electronic resistance. Low modes in a flashlight will always be much more efficient and sustain output closest to the ANSI FL1 rating. Most modes if not regulated will start to sag the battery voltage over a short time causing the flashlight to slowly dim. I've done many rundown tests and this is always the case unless you have a constant current driver like in the new Wurkkos FC11C.

6:50 the runtime doesn’t make sense. On some modes we will get double the runtime by just carrying an extra 18650 3400mAh battery than attaching the 21700 5000mAh extension?

One of my favorite features is the battery indicator. I have a Warrior Mini 2, where the battery indicator is a single light that changes from green, to orange, to red. I’m sure that’d be helpful if I wasn’t colorblind. I can actually tell my battery level on the Seeker 4 Pro.
Typical fenix. Excellent build quality. Efficient circuit. Terrible tint and no true low mode. I’m done with them.
This seems like a really innovative light, and I'll probably be picking one up. For longer backpacking trips I typically take an 18650 headlamp, plus an extra cell and the Nitecore LC10 which I can use to top up my phone (which I use sparingly for maps/gps and photos). This seems like a much simpler and less cumbersome solution, although probably slightly heavier.
Admittedly, it's a nice light, but a built-in battery that cannot be swapped out means you will eventually have a $100 paper weight. For me, that's a no go.
It comes with a lifetime warranty that includes battery replacements. Once your battery starts dying quicker, you can send it in and they just send a new unit. I don’t know if they refurbish the units they receive or chuck them in the bin so idk about ewaste but with the warranty program it’ll last a lifetime.
@@linkzyofficial Hmm. I would have to see the fine print of the warrantee. According to their website, all lights and knives have a lifetime warrantee, however, rechargeable batteries and charging cases only a 2-year warrantee. If this 2-year warrantee applies to the built-in battery of a recharging case, one would assume it would also apply to the built-in battery of a light like the Arkfeld Pro. Which makes sense. It's not a question of if a rechargeable battery will fail, but when. Considering they sell millions of lights with built in rechargeable batteries it really wouldn't be financially feasible for them to replace all these batteries for free into perpetuity.
Why don’t they engineer for 14500 and AA. Seems like a miss here.

I just bought one and absolutely luv it , i thought i always liked a cool white lght beam but this is not really a cool white beam.. but i really like the color it's very bright and clear, so far i really like this light.
Also the later two models have removable straps for cleaning

Your E12 V2 has a more useful high mode. This new V3 does not sustain the 200 lumens according to the runtime graphs as it falls pretty much instantly and continues to lose brightness. For Medium, Low and build quality the V3 is better.

Does the flashlight remember the strobe mode? Can it be turned on with a tail switch?
If Fenix producers read this... Maybe it's worth thinking about a double-click return to the previous mode? If you have flashlights with 5 modes, it is difficult to switch between all of them, as for example in the fenix C7. for example, if the mode is high, a double-click could go back to the previous medium mode, another double-click and it goes to low mode. I have such a system in one of the flashlights from another manufacturer - a great idea with a large number of modes.
Fortunately, Fenix is introducing SFT diodes, because the yellow and greenish SST already discourage me from buying them. Even cold SST20s are yellowish, and SST40 and 70 are greenish. SFT does not have these problems.
I have an e12v2 and I like the color of the light. In e12v3 I see a yellow hot spot... And I was thinking about buying it, but after what I saw I won't buy it. I also have an E20v2 and it is also a great flashlight and the light is a little warmer than the e12v2, but it is not as yellow as in the e12v3.🤮
Is this optic mostly supposed to be for handguns or can you use it on an AR-15?
Great light just hate the proprietary charging everything i use is type c so i ended up opting for the wedge personally
Excellent review! One small correction is that a full press of the tail switch activates “Turbo” mode, not “High.” It really is a well-designed light.
Something that was left off about the MH25 PRO is that it has 2 different programming modes. The default is the “Daily Mode” that memorizes the last used brightness setting. The other mode is “Tactical Mode” that always activates the light in Turbo mode. I’ve been evaluating this light now for the last 4 months on duty and have it set to tactical mode. Strobe is useless in the real world, and nothing is worse than your light coming on in a dim setting when you need to light the place up. For those reasons, having the side mode selection switch that cannot be accidentally bumped when turning the light on is a plus. If I need to reduce the light output, I can step it down with that side switch. If I suddenly need to immediately illuminate something, I can just cycle the light off and on with the tail switch to get full brightness. There are no double or triple tap modes to accidentally activate. To get to strobe mode, you have to hold down the side switch for several seconds after activating the light. I find that to be a good thing since it is difficult to accidentally activate. I have also found myself really appreciating the “UltraLow” mode that is accessed by first pressing and holding the side switch and then turning on the light with the tail switch. This has been really useful for looking for something I may have dropped in my car without destroying my night vision. In the end, I think my Stinger 2020 will be returning to my duty belt with this going in the SAP pocket as a long range thrower. The Stinger can output a lot of light over a long period of time, but it has significantly less candela. I’ve been really liking the MH25 PRO so far for its beam distance and ability to always turn on at full brightness.
The Fenix pd36r pro doesn't fit a sh*t in this comparison. You have 2 good throwers over 700 m and then you bring a mix beam with 380 m... Did you ran out of throwers by that time?
