I love this! It's just amazing to see peoples creativity, brilliance, and community when they are truly passionate about something. I've looked at these before but never needed one enough to spend that kind of money on them. In fact seeing how simple of a device these actually are makes me realize how overpriced they are. I get they are probably very precise but it's still very simple and once designed and setup there's nothing of major expense here. Anyway, absolutely brilliant thanks for sharing.

@@FelixImmler nice, that is another brilliant idea. Did you tension the lines with a weight, I think you use a 100 gram weight. Even though that's their suggestion I heard the pre tensioned pieces they sell are set at 250 grams and give a slightly lower result.

Nice upload as always Felix! 3:30 You can also press the needle against the table or a piece of wood and press the leather workpiece on top, this will give you even more power with thicker leather or whatever you want to sew.

I had a Swiss Army Knife in scouts, but it was lost long ago. It might have been a Camper. I only recently begun getting back into Swiss Army Knives and I restarted with a Rambler. It lives on my keychain and I am tickled by how much use it gets So capable. I also keep a Bantam in my wallet as a backup. The Ranger is in my fanny pack or backpack, but every now and again I will pocket carry it, so might not be always with me. My main EDC blade is a Civivi Elementum, but a Victorinox or two are always on me, even when I switch up my main blade or decide to go out with only the Rambler and Bantam.

I use "Silvo" silver polish for the metal, and after cleaning the knife up with WD40, I then use Meguiar's Ultimate Quick Detailer (Yeah - I know - it's designed for cars). The shine comes up like new. Also - learn from my (stupid) mistake! Never use a Dremel polisher on the plastic. It can easily melt the plastic because of the heat from the friction. Fortunately I did that on an old knife so it wasn't too expensive 😁

Even in China the quality of an item is related to its price. For simple mechanical items like Swiss Army knives the best Chinese products are comfortable, less expensive than Western equivalents but not 95% less expensive, because the materials are more than 10% of the cost.

Soaking A SAK in warm water solution with 1 tsp clear dish detergent and 1/4 tsp per gallon will reduce or eliminate scrubbing time dramatically compared to straight detergent. . WD40 is okay as a flush to quickly remove moisture, but is a poor lubricant. Kroil is the best multitool lube I've found. One drop per pivot is enough.

Merci Félix! A good trick I have is to unlock a tie-wrap with the bottom tip of the can opener (the end of the sharp edge). Very usefull becuse you can re-use the tie-wrap.

I just want to share that I am born American and lived in the US my whole life (aside from a once in a lifetime 3 week trip to Germany, Switzerland and Austria). I never understood why so many people around the world believed the metric system was better until I recently got a Victorinox SKA. It's so much more visually intuitive making it a lot less prone to measurement errors. I can't believe I am finally only learning this now and that it's all because of work with my SKA. I wish the imperial system would go away but the US is way too involved with it. It's everywhere here. 😩 Anyway, thank you Felix for these great videos. They've been a huge inspiration for me.
