great view! you have a new member. I have this bass and it sounds very good, perhaps a little too 'metallic'. In my opinion the only strange thing are the frequencies of the 'on board' equalisation, 40hz/900hz/6khz...especially the highs have a frequency outside the spectrum of the bass, in fact I cut the highs a lot (with this bass) because in my opinion the pickups are very 'open' and make all the 'clicks' heard. I'm curious to know your settings (eq and pickup mixing ), maybe they could help!

I know this video is two years old, but I was wondering, I’ve been playing some basses recently and branching out from my pj, and I haven’t been able to get that nasally TOOL bass tone, and this caught my eye. how close would you consider this to wal tone, although obviously it can never be close to a 10k bass.
@MattPula2 ай бұрын
Heyo! I wish I could answer this for you - I'm definitely familiar with Tool and Justin's bass tone, but unfortunately I'm primarily a guitarist and don't really know enough about bass or bass rigs to confidently say one way or another. If it matters I do still have and use this bass though!

Not sure how many runs you made during the year, but it'd be interesting to take another vid and then put them on the same screen side by side and see how your technique and skills developed. 2 years later, what delays are you using now? I'm seriously considering Keeley Halo, but I'm also interested in the DD-200
@MattPula4 ай бұрын
Honestly the Eccos has remained one of go-to delays, but I also tend to always have my Keeley Caverns on my board setup as an always-on or more subtle delay - the distinction I make in my head is I use the Caverns as an all-around general effect , but I go to other pedals if I want to specifically "play the effects" if that makes sense. So if I want something more robust, or need tap tempo or a looper I'll use the Eccos, or sometimes the Walrus ARP-87 (which I have in the SLARP combo pedal). I also do this with reverb - I use the Caverns for general-purpose reverb, and the Hydra or SLO-side of the SLARP if I want to get crazy with things. The Halo sounds pretty awesome in demos though, and the DD200 would probably be able to do just about anything you could ever want, just kinda depends on what you're looking for.
