    I have never been in Portugal and am planning a bike trip. If you are biking, can anybody tell me a bit about camping and places to shower. I guess it is pretty easy to find a place to spend a night, right?

    Yes there are campgrounds everywhere! And they are (mostly) super cheap! You could also shower at the beach, if you plan on Wildcamping. They have showers and water suspensions at almost every beach ☺️

    Unfortunately, Portugal has the worst drivers in terms of respect for cyclists. It seems like they have a strong dislike for cyclists. Fortunately, I have seen some improvement in the last few years, but the older drivers still do not respect cyclists at all. I have stopped riding my road bike because of this.

    I got exactly same black saddle bags from Thule, really nice ones with fast unlocking&locking system and u can carry them as bag with bag strap that they include, they're waterproof and they got really bright reflectors on both side so nice increase to safety and no need to add own ones into bike. Both are 25liter bags to carry good amount of stuff.

    If anyone is planning this route, the trail has been much improved from Mira to Figueira da Foz. The bridge in Figueira is currently "closed" to cyclists, (many ignore this), but there is a free ferry across the river from the marina to Cabadelo. The work on the bridge is planned to be finished by end 2024, but likely to be later than this.

    I have the same 25l, only I own the black ones. They are amazing. A little edit...mine were a little more expensive. I paid €150 for just two bags of 25l. That ring lock is genius! It's called "Bäckerschloss" for a reason: You can easily lock your bike if you don't venture far away and nobody can just ride away. You also can buy a chain or a rope that fits into the lock opposite the key lock to lock the bike to a lamp post or something else. One more benefit: You cannot forget the lock - it's always there.

  • @biking_beyond
    @biking_beyondАй бұрын

    Interesting to hear a positive review, however I just can not understand how anyone could possibly like a „lock“ like this 😅 securing a 3000€ bike with a mechanism that allows thiefs to just lift the back of the bike and comfortably carry/ push the bike on the front wheel is not acceptable for me 🙈🫣

    @@biking_beyond That's good news, since I live in Spain! In 2007 I moved from Holland to the Spanish inner lands (Extremadura). It certainly is true that in the last 10 or so years, the mentallity towards cyclists has changed very strong for the better, mainly due to campains from the government and even a new set of rules for traffic regarding how to pass by a biker. People are a lot more aware now and that is great. I never cycled in Portugal, but driving my car there is already an adventure. In Portugal they seem always to race, don't keep any distance at all and in general lack patience. Your experience confirms it even more. Thanks for your response and opinion, you have a new subscriber!

    In Spain they are slowly making progress, but still don't understand much about a cycling mentallity. And there are ridiculously high fines for virtually everything. The old Franco spirit is still wandering around here. But it is a beautiful country and the people are very friendly.

    I have a set of the 13L panniers but in black... The reason they were falling off her rack was due to operator error. There is a way to manually lock and unlock the latch mechanism on the bags. It takes some fiddling around with the handle and latches but sometimes it will make a satisfying click when it locks onto the rack and other times it locks on silently. I visually inspect the system to make sure it's securely locked on before I ride. I haven't had any problems with the bags falling off (except one time but that was also due to operator error) and I can put as much or as little weight in them and they're fine as long as everything is secure. She is right about the side straps lacking adjustment though I thought that was kind of stupid too.

    Hey Vanessa, glad to see you’re back. I really enjoyed watching your touring videos a few years ago. Do yourself a favor and stay away from cheep EBikes. I don’t want to “Rain on your parade” but that Mokwheel you’re promoting makes your Koga bike look like a Rolls Royce. Just by looking at the hole where the speed sensor is routed on the frame shows me how Mokwheel cuts corners everywhere to lower the price. Rear wheel drive is also poor weight distribution especially if you add paniers not to mention the terrible center of gravity. Also judging from the rear sprocket you won’t have any decent climbing gears and rear hub drives don’t produce anywhere near as much torque as mid drive motors like from Bosch and Co. Six hours to charge a 360 wh/h battery? C’mon. My Bosch 750 Wh/h battery charges up in less than 4 hours. The tires are fine unless things get a little wet or muddy. The battery level reading on the display is a surprise but I’m sure you’ll notice when it’s empty, especially when riding with the lights on. What does that beast weigh, 30kg? Have fun getting on trains. Why would you use the push assistance if the bike is otherwise so powerful? I hope you got the bike for free. You know what they say, “Wer billig kauft, kauft 2-Mal”. Good luck with it if you decide to take it too Albania. Now that I’ve had that rant, please take a few minutes and watch, like, and subscribe to my channel where you will see a real EBike. Schöne Grüße gehen auch an Alex! Yours Truly aus Bonn, RK. P.S. I’m in the translation business and have done several translations of “Gutachten” for insurance companies where Chinese Ebike batteries exploded in the apartment while charging because they don’t have a BMS (Battery Management System). So please, be careful. kzread.info/dash/bejne/d4qZps6Hg8-yYbQ.html

    Hey, danke für deine ausführliche Nachricht! So ein E-Bike würde ich nie für eine Rad Reise nutzen, es ist ein Stadt- und Pendelrad (als welches es auch vermarktet wird). Und genau dafür nutze ich es auch :) ergo fallen die meisten deiner Punkte in dem Zusammenhang weg und auch der Vergleich mit meinem Koga WorldTraveller macht für mich nicht so viel Sinn. Wir wollen ja keine Äpfel mit Birnen vergleichen ;) das Rad wiegt genau so viel wie andere E-Bikes (meine Schwiegereltern haben hochkarätige mit Bosch-Motor etc. und die wiegen sogar mehr als das Mesa Lite 2). Natürlich ist es ein günstiges E-Bike, aber genau dadurch spricht es eine Zielgruppe an. Liebe Grüße 😊
