@@itsthefool9454 You call it pessimism, some call it realism, all about perspective. Besides, there are plenty of people in the fan base that trust management regardless of what they do and I’d say it’s pretty split between those and people becoming impatient especially with the bad signings, recent head scratching trades and questionable drafting. Hopefully some of these forward prospects hit and become very important players otherwise there won’t be much to be optimistic about. RHD is horrible outside of Seider, let’s get that out of the way. Subpar goaltending and below league average d won’t be bailed out by hard nosed forwards.

The only thing I'm confused about is trading Walman with a sweetener. Other than that I have been in lockstep with "the Yzerplan". Once Hronek and Bertuzzi are traded, you refocus on the next realistic timeline where Raymond and Seider will be young vets welcoming in the next wave. Everything until then was about killing time and fixing the culture of the Org. None of the "bad contracts" like Chiarot will be around by that time. We saw what happened last year signing too many FAs blocks the talent that's ready to come up, now they have a path

Try trading Ville Husso for Evander Kane. Husso might bounce back and be a good back up for Stuart Skinner. Evander Kane could be a solution for our 2nd line as a two year stop gap. The Oilers have their top 6 kompleted with the Skinner and Arvidsson additions so they can spare Kane. 🤔

12 goals from a blue liner, good stick great at transition D. But in the grand scheme no real loss. I'm not upset about losing walman, no biggie. The circumstances are concerning, it was bad asset management. Yzerman added draft capital to move a serviceable player on a reasonable contract. Alot of people certainly over value walman, because of two partial seasons with pretty good play paired with Mo. But even recognizing he was over rated by many in the fan base, there is no way he is a negative asset that need a pick attached to move. A team certainly would have given a late round pick for him, but yzerman didnt do his due diligence ( so the reports say anyway )

At some point you just have to bring in quality players to move the needle. Last year was a step in that direction (DeBrincat and Kane). So far, this year is a definite step backwards notwithstanding a future blockbuster trade. Based on a simple goal production analysis, which does have a corollary to points, they have lost net 50 goals, which will drop them back down to a bottom 10 team. I get the bad cost and term on players like Stamkos, Marchessault and Stephenson, but one of those guys would have offset the goal loss and kept us in the hunt at the end of the season. Again, at some point, you have to pay for progress which then creates momentum to draw even better players. You cannot economize your way into becoming a top 10 team ... just ask the Wild.

To me, it sounds like you are very bad losers over what other teams have managed to do during free agency. If you are very biased towards S.Y and that he never does wrong e.i as D-mac, then these are the kind of excuses I expect to hear. I'm not saying you three are like D-mac, but starting to sound more like it. Many fans including myself are disappointed as we don't see any impact players being added. A lot of Tuber's keep up the hope that it must mean that something else big is on, so it must be when we have S.Y right. Okay what has S.Y managed to do? We got Kane back for a year. Is it because he will again have shelter time in RW this year too or? I'm not completely against giving him that as this year (off season), he can return to preparing like any other season on paper. But for 25/26 then what? Unknown factors create a basis for further speculation only. S.Y sign some goalies and some defenders who at BEST are (1) a small upgrade on paper, then what? We also see Fischer again and we also have the eternity machine in Motte today, then what? So far under free agent, this is looking more and more like watching the movie Moneyball with an upgraded crew of RW front office in it. Will the movie be better with these new faces! I say no, since a very good film (my 2 cents) has then been turned into an extremely bad comedy. As a Fan, I find it extremely difficult to see how a rebuilding team can have a cap problem WITHOUT having a minimum of (4) elite players in their lineup, RW had 0 ELIT players in their lineup today. RW has a few very good players e.i Kane and Larks. RW is forced to rely heavily on youngsters like MO & Raz and new faces from GR to carry the team forward. I maintain that S.Y is asking for a bridge too much here and I have a hard time seeing RW being able to maintain Q status for next season. The facts remain that S.Y has signed stupid contracts without thinking long-term and he is holding on to the assets he managed to scrape together in order not to lose face publicly. For example, a buyout of Holl or trade ANY of those bad contracts we have. PLD succeeds annually with the trick of being traded, not by S.Y tho. What we see live today is a rebuild of the rebuild (Moneyball) and feel free to listen again to Gustafsson's interview about being a RW for the next two years. Does Gustafsson exude any positive body language about being a RW, I say no as a Swede. From Rags to RW its a downgrade for sure. As a fan, I choose to criticize the person who signs the contracts, not the player. Otherwise a good show as usual, keep it up.

The issue is the change in Philosophy, we were happy to hand out 4 & 5 year overpriced deals to subpar players. But when better (granted older) players become available we balk at the price and term. The Copp, Chairot, Holl deals anchored us from taking a chance on Marchessault and Stamkos, we also lost Ghost in the process. The team isn’t any better and are going to be relying on rookies to carry much of the load if we want to just make the playoffs.

@@stevensimpson8231 no doubt chariot had a much better second season in Detroit. I hope we move holl too, not Matta tho. Matta is solid and steady and good for depth. I think you keep matta until he's consistently the 7th dman. Once Matta isnt a regular, you move him, no sense in having 3 mil in the press box when someone on a league minimum can do it.

Albert, Simon and Burgers need to be in the line up next year. I think all three are ready for the jump to the NHL.

Just glad that Kanes Bonuses are not going to count against the cap. But SY has to sign Raymond and Seider and I think they deserve a longterm contract and not be lowballed because SY is always trying to get over on the younger players. He has been cheap
