    Went to the Griffins game tonight. After a decent first period, in the dying seconds the Ice Hogs converted on the PP. From there, it was all downhill. A lack of effort, competing for loose pucks, poor passing, and a few goals that im sure Cossa wants to have back dominated the rest of the game. Need a big bounce back Friday. On the upside, I did Catch a shirt during the T shirt toss. Solid episode as usual boys. LGRW 🐙 🏒 🤘

    I remember draft day last year clearly. I remember when Danielson was selected, the WWP reacted as though the oxygen had been sucked out of the room. My, what a difference a year makes.

    I also wasn't very high on the pick the moment it was made. At 9, I wanted any of Moore, Benson, Yager, Dvorsky or ASP. ASP was a no-brainer at 17, still can't believe he fell that far, but I wouldn't have minded Perreault at that spot either. Crazy he fell to 23 as well.

    The way you don't box out upcoming prospects on the roster is to move out 3-4 rostered players (i.e. Copp, Veleno, Fabbri and/or Berggren). Replace those spots with one qualified trade candidate (i.e. Ericksson Ek), one free agent (i.e. Marchessault) and 2 prospects (i.e. between Danielson, Mazur, Kasper). For my part, I would like to see Danielson and Mazur make the team and leave Kasper in GR to run a full season as their 1C. Danielson's hockey IQ will likely be his difference maker. As for Mazur, bring the grit.

    Its starting to get hard to be excited about prospects, knowing we likely wont see them as early as some of these kids on other teams. That aside, I am beyond excited for what this team looks like with Razor, Nate, Larkin, Cat, ASP, and Buchelnikov. Talk about FIRE POWER

    Speaking of development.. What's up with Big Elmer Soderblom? He made the team the previous year, and he scored a wicked goal against Montreal. Then he didn't fit due to tie goes to the veteran issue. Then I hear Cleary say he's got an effort issue sometimes on the Red & White Authority last year(I believe 🤔). And I can't stand the guy, but I've got Mike Babcock's, "You gotta be an 'everydayer'" saying stuck in my head when I think of that. Is his attitude/effort improving or has he kinda stalled in his development?

  • @nickfury8973

    @nickfury8973

    I think his issue is his defense and body development. He needs to add more mass to his body without sacrificing his skating He is not skilled enough to play on the top 6, but maybe become something on the bottom 6. He is always a longshot to making it since he is a very late round draft pick He has some flashes but not consistent enough. And he is not doing that well in the AHL either which does not help his case Personally I think he might spend another year in the AHL and then head back to Sweden. Especially when more younger draft picks are arriving in the AHL.

    @nickfury8973 I tell ya what though, the last play I saw him make, he tried to flip the puck over the defender and go around..... almost made it but didn't. If he would've, it would've been all over highlights and he mightve had a better chance to stay up. Instead it was a giveaway lol.....

    Happy to repeat what I have already stated a number of times about Soderblom. He is probably the most over hyped prospect to be found in the RW organization today. There is a very small possibility that Soderblom will be anything more than a bottom 6 player in a future RW team. If he manages to take a place in a future team, then that is a success in itself. As we fans should not forget that it is already on draft day itself, these late picks have very poor odds that any "pick" in the later rounds will reach the NHL. If Cleary says he's got an effort issue, then I choose to believe it. It is a step to take from the SHL, AHL and NHL. The advantage that can be deduced is that Cleary is sincere and honest to the individual. As a Swede, I am also no stranger to the fact that he either gets traded or chooses to go back to Sweden and possibly return in the future as a "late bloomer", read - Don't stop believing.

    Kane is a lot of offense to lose yes, but he's also a blackhole defensively and a light breeze knocks him off pucks. I think he is being HIGHLY over valued because of who he is and what he has done which is deserved, but a lot of his downside is getting ignored because he grossly overperformed our offensive expectations. Burger, Mazur, Kasper, and Danielson are the players we can use combined to overcome and surpass the absence of a patty kane. I could be dead wrong and he could have been that wind in our sails, but I doubt it.

    That's 4 players you are talking about to replace the offense from Kane and his 1 roster spot though. I think they do need to start working some of these guys in to the roster but I'll be shocked if more than 2 of those guys are on the team next year, especially with Johansson being another rookie on the back end that is no longer waiver exempt and needs a spot.

    I know that this is not a popular opinion, but I do not want to see any russians on this team until russia as a country changes. And no, this is not "politics". This is many of these hockey plaeyrs actually vocally and actively supporting the regime and the war. I used to respect Ovechkin as a player until I found out that he licks putin´s a$# eveey chance he gets. Again, this is not politics--people are dying as a result of an unjust war that regime started. Playing in the NHL is a privilege. The league should shut the door to players from a pariah country which throwns international law to the toilet and is proud of it. Most other sports fedearions and leagues have done that already. NHL must follow--it will not lose that much money.
