Great video
something is cooking off

Enjoyed your video very much, thanks.
Tenets failed to put out a cigarette and thats what started the fire.
Such a shame. One of the best restaurants in the area. Hope they can rebuild.
Best restaurant my ass! It had roaches. I saw them and they were crawling on the food.
Great video
Lawn did need ware
What country is this in?
New Jersey.
@@williamrashak8528 Thanks. The reason I asked is the very unusual primary wire feeding the transformer. @ 2:32 Looks like they suspended cables meant to be in underground duct-banks, overhead.
So sad! Was this a lightning strike from the morning storm that came through?
Wow, what a shame. That looks like a total loss. I wonder whose house it is
Awesome footage William. Saw the smoke on my way to school. I couldn’t make it, but you sure did🙌
I know fires are rare, but while modern construction *looks* nice, especially to those who love their McMansions, they sure burn quick.
In the US at ~3/4 of residential structure fires the fire is contained to the room of origin Of those that are not, ~3/4 the fire spread is contained to just one adjacent space Very few residential fires result in the building being lost or even severely damaged But those types of fires aren't interesting to look at so the videos do not make it here or on the news In modern home fires the structure isnt what is the primary fuel source, but rather the contents, which today are largely petroleum based. Just look at the items around you and see how many are made largely from petroleum like plastics, polyesters, nylons, etc.
@@virgilhilts3924 I called 911 when I saw this in our neighborhood. Unfortunately, the entire second floor was in flames before the trucks arrived. Very sad and very scary.
I bet that Pierce Electronic Stability Control system did or was about to activate on that High Bridge rig.
Open Cupboard Food pantry and thrift store was connected and was also a TOTAL loss. That store helped hundreds from our area. I frequented that store. Heard it was on fire and went there. So sad to watch it burn down.
Great coverage
Does anyone actually know wtf caused it
Unfortunately with that amount of fire fighters it takes away response time to other calls
Mutual aid station coverage handles that. It backfills the firehouses at this call so that response times aren't extended. If anything, it cuts response times because the backfilled volunteer houses are already staffed.
You have to keep danger at a minimum. Stay off the roof of a burning building. Open the doors and windows and use a fan for ventilation. It's much faster than Maybe getting a draft going from roof and ceiling holes. That roof already has gable end, soffit and ridge vents and there was very little smoke that would have bled out through those vents, so what are you doing up there? There's next to no smoke at all and you are still cutting the house to pieces! Don't climb a ladder to a gable end vent with a hose. 0:55 You will be pushing the smoke and heat back down the roof vent ceiling hole and you could easily fall off the ladder. Cut a hole in the ceiling from below and fog the attic. 1:47 Now this goes way beyond stupid and irresponsible. What do you think you are extinguishing by blindly applying water through that vent? Go to the fire room, open the already damaged ceiling, take a look inside the attic and then apply Just enough water to extinguish the fire. I swear, the USA fire disservice is staffed by zombie children. 2:20 Still cutting more holes JUST because it is fun! Do you see that ridge vent? No smoke coming out at all and still they cut. 2:30 2:45 You could have conventionally opened that window from the inside, but this is more fun and even barbaric! The fire damaged a small portion of this house. The fire department destroyed the rest.
you have zero idea what you are talking about and your tactics are completely false and dangerous for this fire. Source=me (who was there)
@@chrissilcox5009 And you were incapable of explaining any of what you wrote. Think about that.
You were at this fire right? I didn't see you in the video I guess the arm chair was across the street. So I guess ignore the basement fire (you know, the smoke from the alpha side basement vents) and just push in with a active gas leak (also located in the basement). Let's not cut the roof and let all the trapped smoke and heat out because.... we are firemen.. Let's walk inside, ABOVE the gas leak in the basement, ABOVE the fire, and open the windows from the inside. With active fire inside... And did I read that right? Put a fan to push air in WITH fire conditions evident (like the turbulent dark smoke?) But I mean it sounds like you were at this job so I'll take your word for it. Tyfys.
@CamelPlatoon Do you babble all the time, or do you sometimes get to the point? There was no sequencing or specific tactics to all you BS, and you didn't tell me where and how I was wrong. When you sober up or grow up, try again.
@JB91710 I actually pickup a nozzle and make the push, or go to the roof (I know it's scary for you) when you enjoy your chips and soda. I actually bite and don't bark. Unlike you lol
The very last scene at about 1:50, was the fire at our families shop at 19 & Bryant in San Francisco in October of 1967 or 1968. Yes it was used as footage on the Streets if San Francisco, but the footage was of an actual San Francisco fire. 2:00
There has to be at LEAST 40 firefighters standing around in front of that house, and probably at least another 10-15 that we don't see. That's a ridiculous number of firefighters and apparatus tied up on a simple residential house that's not even fully involved...
Crying because a bunch of volunteer firefighters showed up to volunteer... 😆😅😂🤣 Spoken like a genuine troll and wannabe... well done Can't wait to see how far you stick your foot in your mouth with a triggered reply
Soooo we are gonna hold with a 1 and 1 for a fire showing on arrival with a active gas leak, hoarding conditions, and floor collapse? Gotcha, no need for other keyboard chiefs per @ffjsb
@CamelPlatoon It's interesting that you can't focus on how the fire was fought or should have been fought. You sound like another Virgil, and the world really doesn't need another one.
Gotta love KZread phony firefighters criticizing Volunteer Firefighters for... get this... volunteering 😆😅😂🤣
@@CamelPlatoon I have no idea of what your "1 and 1" is, But this fire CLEARLY did not need as many companies as there are there. Son, I've only been on the job for over 40 years...
😢

Thanks again.
Where in Hackensack?
It started in a restaurant at 76 Main Street.
Don’t you just love it when your operators can’t judge the effective range of the aerial, but they try anyway, confirming that they shouldn’t be operating an aerial
Thanks for sharing
Awesome William! My video should be up shortly. Incredible you were able to get there so fast!
Thanks again, I happen to live nearby.
Great video
It's Raritan Avenue, not raritan road
Thanks, I stand corrected.
I love FDNY engines. They're not shiny, pretty toys like a lot of fire engines. They're working man tools and they look like working man tools -- usually a bit dirty and disorganized looking. But man do they get the job done. FDNY -- the best in the business.
PLEASE tell me they're both ok.
That one engine in the end of the video, was that Saddle Brook's former Engine 2?
That was my dad's truck from 1965 to 1974 when he retired there are pictures somewhere of me on that truck when I was a little kid probably like five years old
Judging by the circumstances, it was a good idea for the firefighters to mask up. Unfourtanetly, in America in other parts of the U.S, this is rare to find where both firefighters are masked up, but they did a great job handling the fire, and protecting themselves from getting poisoned, or very sick from the explosions that released chemicals. However, if you see there was someone the 6 minute mark who wasn’t wearing their mask, but I think they eventually put it on, but everyone did a good and professional job
So sorry for your losses of your businesses and your homes..😢
The owner and the children got out alive and safe
My parents live in the house, they are fine but lost everything. So sad
Has anyone called the Piscataway police to ask questions?
My friend lives there is she ok dose about jnow

So sad! Sister Grace, my sister and best friend! I have spent many months in this house: 1696! I can't believe my eyes, NWA Chineke! I am grateful to God that you all came out with the most valuable of all assets: LIFE. TO HIM ALONE BE ALL HONOR AND PRAISE, IJMNA
More importantly how are the residents in the house? Didn’t get a chance to listen, yet?
It looks like every room and basement was on fire at the same time. Except garage
very nice but i would have blacket off the whol era as them things can explode and i would have not let that trash truck near thare antel i was duble sure it was out
Oh man that is horrible😢
Ripping thanks for sharing
Thanks for watching.
Sad day I’ve been driving past that house for 7 years going to work and today I was like what😢.
Awesome Looking Pumper-Tanker!
Great video
Thanks again.
What was the time of day this fire came in. And a bowstring truss roof, I'm assuming this bldg wasn't always a Walgreens, possibly an old grocery store?
It was reported around 8:30 PM on February 25, 2024. I believe the building once housed an A&P supermarket.
@@eugenesaltz8327 had the look of an older store, thanks for the info
