This fire on Trumbull Street in the Port Elizabeth area of the city broke out around 5:30 A.M. Firefighters encountered an advanced fire in a massive commercial building. Large multi-storied industrial structures were exposed to the fire on all sides. Fire extension was held to a minimum in these exposures. Airline flights at nearby Newark Airport were affected by the smoke column. Schools in the area delayed their classes. Firefighting operations were expected to continue throughout the day. 1/5/24.
